The delivery proved to a bit problematic so afterwards decided to say in the sunshine in the garden and have filled my and neighbours garden waste bin ( they are away and its collection day tomorrow and they do know:rotfl:) and made a few garden plans..............

Whilst digging around in the part of the garden that has rarely had attention in the last 25 years, I dug up a small red L*go brick. Bit of a wash and its like new........ This got me thinking as the brick does not belong to us - our children were not fans and we never had any in the house as far as I can remember. I also know the previous owners did not have any plastic toys, on principle. So this must have come from the owners before them, who we know and I am sure their son was a L*go fan and he must now be in his mid thirties:eek: Thinking this through a bit more.......I know this brand of toy will use top quality plastic and its built to last but think about how much must be in landfill and not only L*go but tonnes of other plastic carp toys which may not be as robust but certainly are not biodegradable:eek:

It overwrites the entire disk with zeros. Then I'm overwriting with random zeros and ones 8 times. Then if I wanted to use it again I'd have to format it :) But I don't.

Got the other one out of the machine, but one screw is still attached to the metal housing that it and the DVD drive were in. So all the rest will be off to the tip and I'll keep this until I have time to drill a couple of holes in it.
Thanks greenbee - that sounds really secure.

The most exciting thing is the massive cupboard I mentioned before I have found out today when I had a peek. Has a rail across the middle of it with old coats etc hanging in behind that it goes back at least another 8 ft and has a light switch behind the coats. It is filled with boxes and when I said to Dad whats in them he had no idea :rotfl:So I quicky shut the door and said we will do it next time.;)

Said the same about the 4  bootsale cupboards :o and the dressing table and all the drawers in both bedrooms and the massive cupboard in the en-suite and bathroom :rotfl:and the walk in cupboard in the kitchen :D

If the flat is ever sold I reckon it needs to read Storage unit with a bit of living space as thats how it feels.
Ooh, I'm probably having to downsize to a flat in the next few years, I actually quite like the sound of that :D

Now I have had a cup of tea or 10 and cleared my head a bit.

Another funny thing was a box of old Christmas cards there was 3 in there from me from many moons ago I would say early 80s. and they were all the same card :rotfl::rotfl:So I know what I like and sent the same card 3 times and its not like a pack of card type ones its a big expensive card from the days I sent them :o What a waste of money and why didnt anyone say do you know you sent the same card for 3 years running :rotfl:
I thought my memory was pretty good but I am beginning to doubt that now !

Karmacat if I lived there I wouldnt even have to have a bit of furniture on display it could all be in cupboards :rotfl:Even my sofas would fit in the tardis in the hallway ;)

:D I'm salivating at the mere thought of a flat with soooo many cupboards.

I have a tank cupboard, with an area below the tank about 18 inches tall and 3 ft wide. I have a broom cupboard (13 inches deep x 20 wide) which holds Henry d'Vac, the ironing board and several other things, and the airing cupboard, which is about a foot deep x 20 inches wide, interspersed with a lot of pipework.

Can only drool at the prospect of cupboards you can get lost it......

Got in just before 8 pm last night, and after work today took the mega-heavy bag of curtains to the chazzer on the luggage trolley. Have my personal wally trolley full of curtains and yarn for my pal. We've been texting to arrange getting together to hand these things over, Thurs looking plausible atm.

Thinking about my electicial upgrade which is incoming next Tuesday. I am feeling sooo sorry for the sparks, these flats would only be easy to work on if completely empty. As is, we will have an interesting day, to put it mildly...........:rotfl:

Mav is there scope to remodel it at all, to gain more rooms by using the floor space better?

A drawer of old financial paperwork from 2006-7 has just gone through the shredder. What it was doing in the top drawer of a bedside cabinet I really don't know!

A lampshade I never liked but cost me £30 is going to the charity shop. It was replaced on the fitting years ago by something I do like, we do we hang onto carp we don't like just because it cost a lot of money?

Found some more bras which don't fit well to send to a breast care charity, don't know why they got missed on the previous cull a couple of months back.

Still got the cookery books piled in the dining room, will try and have a go first thing tomorrow as I'm better at making decisions about stuff in the morning and I need to use the table for work!

Does anybody else get freaked out by the Ikea storage advert with all the clothes flying in through the windows and piled in the cupboards?

I'm really working on hard to make sure there's more going out than coming in, the thought of it all coming back to haunt me is the stuff of nightmares!

Sounds like the doorway to Narnia!

7 bags dropped off at the charity shop this morning. DD1 and I started having a go at her room this morning while my Mum watched the baby. She was surprisingly grown up about letting go of stuff and it going to help other people. We did all her books but didn't get rid of many, except to hold back 10 or so for little sister. We let go of all of the playdoh accessories which I know she hasn't played with in 6 months, since it was then that I binned all of the crusty playdoh she had left out uncovered! She also spent some time putting her sylvanians back where they belong and separating her lego into the correct boxes. Not much gotten rid off but a start.

Having a day trip out on the train tomorrow so probably won't be doing any kondoing unless I can persuade DH to deal with the stuff he's been keeping on top of the wardrobe for 2 years!
  • Slinky I haven't seen that ad, but I would hate clothes coming piling in! I've hated being given clothes as presents so I imagine I wouldn't be keen on it at all.

musogirl sounds like great progress :) decluttering/kondoing/thinning out is another skill you are teaching your DD

mav .......having flasbacks of walls of tinned food in hall cupboards now. I can understand, but it seems such a waste. 6 binbags and 19 shoeboxes is a fabulous amount to get through - well done both of you!

I'm avoiding the fact I should give away my 2 pairs of high heels. I almost never wore them when well, I'm hugely unlikely to wear them by choice ever again but I'm stalling. I think its because I'm getting rid due to illness, or maybe its a fantasy self thing. Oh and lots of guilt about little they have been used *sigh*

Fantastic, thought I would turn off the school alarm (usually I just leave it on) as I was determined to have a lie in. Led here wide awake!

I will get up in a minute and will start. Think I will finish dd1's book folding with her name in that I was supposed to do for Xmas! A lot of my things lying around and lurking are half finished things so I am hoping to do some of these this half term.

Lady came for eBay so have more space to do some KD. went to a holiday craft event yesterday with mum. Someone mentioned it and I have not seen mum so enthusiastic about something. She made three cards and all the way home was telling me about them! There is also a club that runs every week and is £2 but craft bits are free. Bus stop close by so I think they will be seeing a new face!
