GQ, you're a marvel! Well done :T:T:T
MThank you. I'm a tired little bunny and there's plenty more up there which could have been dealt with if I only could afford a car to cart things around these days. As is, there will have to be some left for my next visitation (Easter). And the visit after that, and the visit after that.......:rotfl:
Still outrageous amounts of Stuff every which way in this house, this would be a mad kondo-ist's dream come true to work on, but it ain't my Stuff and I have to baby-step any efforts here.
Wa-hey, it'll be good to get back to w*rk tomorrow for a rest!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I had a lightbulb moment about 4am this morning - we have 2 sofas in our lounge, each having 4 sets of washable covers (2 terracotta, 2 dark green) The largest sofa is on it's way out - 2 seats are decidedly lower than the other and hard to sit on and the batons in the arms move about if you put any pressure on. They are about 13 years old and have been well used by us, 4 children and visitors over the years, the larger one also having been slept on regularly for about 6 months solid. The smaller sofa is in better condition and worth donating on, along with spare covers.
We think that we've found some sofas to buy in replacement - but it struck me that why on earth am I holding onto 3 sets of spare covers for the large sofa which will be making it's way to the tip when the time comes....? 2 sets of large covers (the terracotta ones - which we haven't used since we redecorated in a totally different colour scheme 2 years ago but kept just in case..) now sorted out for textile recycling (we have a tip/ recycling centre trip to do tomorrow anyway) Spare large green ones kept as current set on is in need of a wash anyway
Much space cleared in airing cupboard as a result
Will be glad to ultimately pass on the smaller sofa and its many sets of covers in a couple of months time!
At that point I will have a double width deep shelf totally empty in the airing cupboard!:T

Greent, funny how such thoughts just strike at odd moments, isn't? I am pretty sure I could make better use of some of the limited storage in our tiny house but I am still waiting for that particular Woo moment!I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0

I do some of my best kondo thinking in the quiet time between waking up and getting out of bed. It's interesting how that if you sit staring at a problem and try to bludgeon your brain into finding a solution, you often fail.
But if you let things percolate, sometimes the perfect solution pops up at random.
I have now loaded the wally trolley, and a second luggage trolley, the latter with a defunct-seal but otherwise strong vac bag. The curtains are stashed in there and should be able to be transported down to the chazzer like that.
I will leave them en-trollied overnight and roll them down to the chazzer after work tomorrow. Decluttering without a car causes some interesting challenges, not to mention a darned good workout.
I've been away for the weekend with only a washbag and a change of undies and socks, but I towed heavy loads of books in one direction and now loads of curtains in another.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GQ- Your kondoing sounds intense! I'm exhausted just reading about it!
My kondoing has resumed over the last few days. Friday night saw the overflowing towel and bedding collection come out of the spare room and airing cupboard. The towel and flannel collection have been reduced and now fit nicely folded into 2 wicker baskets that have been placed onto airing cupboard shelf.
Last night I sorted the bedding. All guest bedding is now folded in the drawers under the guest bed. Children's bedding is folded into 2 boxes to be stored in their room once the rest of the room has been sorted. Main bedroom bedding is now folded into the wire drawers at the bottom of my ikea wardrobe, made space for by all the rest of the rubbish that has come out! 2 bin bags of linen to go to the charity shop.
DH and my bedroom is now looking so nice I think I'm going to deal with the 2 small piles of random stuff even though they have no discernable category just so that I have one room done. Hopefully this will motivate me to do the rest!0 -
The pile of stuff for eBay will be going... I have bids on all three items and they end soon. Some of the stuff comes from the category of 'OMG i paid £x for that' other bits have been outgrown or served their purpose. The best bit is that it is the start of half term so I have plans to tackle numerous things this week whether they materialise is another matter!
Also busy getting bits reading for craft stall e.g. book folding etc. DD is fundraising for her Baden Powell for Guides to pay for the camp they have to do. The more she makes the less I have to pay so I have worked out that the more I use up of our surplus the better it is for me!Don’t put it down - put it away!

GQ - as always your adventures in Kondoing at your parents' place are great to hear about. Are you SURE you don't want to change your job and start travelling round the country helping the rest of us out?
In all seriousness, I think the fact that you can only do a little at a time is probably the reason you have had so much success with getting your parents to get going on the decluttering. The pace is slow enough not to frighten them.
Hopefully everything you removed this time will be gone by the time you get back, and over Easter you will manage to make progress on the places that impact on their quality of life. Even if they won't get rid of certain things, at least you have made space in the attic to 'store' (in an organised fashion) the things that they don't need day to day.
My energy levels are very low at the moment, partly due to the cycle of being tired so not exercising so being tired. But I do need to summon up the energy to start clearing out so I have space to pack up the two bedrooms.0 -
GQ, you are an inspiration.
I've used up my very last bath bomb. The pretty box has been put to good use, it smells gorgeous.
We are busy decorating whilst son is at uni. I had seen some bedding I liked in s'burys, whilst browsing I spotted a brushed cotton bed set for a double bed reduced from £28 to £14. It's lovely, it will replace the very old and thin bed set currently in use.
It's half term this week and I have a very busy week planned, lots of cleaning, sorting and decorating along with catching up with friends.

Heh, I am a tired inspiration. Due to clambering around at strange angles in the loft, I seem to have given some unaccustomed muscle groups like my glutes a workout..........:rotfl:
Dad came back from hospital visiting and Nan is much brighter than she was yesterday. She would have had to go into this same hospital tomorrow anyway as an outpatient to have the dressing on her wounds (there are two, the site of the skin cancer and the site where the graft was taken) dressed.
As it is, we don't know how things will pan out but we're taking it one day at a time.
I will now say toodle-pip until tomorrow afternoon/ evening as I have to gather up the last few things then off to catch my bus back to the city.
If you are in a city somewhere this evening and see a woman with two shopping trollies, one on either arm, feel free to approach and introduce yourself - I'll probably be in need to a breather.:p:D
G'night, all. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
