Sorry to hear about your Nan GQ.

Any chance you can tell your parents there are bird germs in the curtains... or you saw a mouse near them? Or that you have just heard a charity appeal asking for curtains?

I have to take the kids swimming. Then clearly I need to stock up on cold weather supplies and bring in more logs and kindling as we may have a snowflake tomorrow. Possibly.

My next big Kondo exercise is to move the contents of the two bedrooms due for renovation into the rest of the house without making living conditions too stressful. I'm pretty ruthless nowadays, but realistically can't get rid of stuff I might reasonably need when the house is finished.

Mavvymoo thanks for the name of the boots you recommend. Have had a look and a stockist is quite near me. I wear uggs and they are no use if you are caught in the rain or if there is slush as they let in the water so soggy feet and soggy boots.

Grunnie - how did you find a list of stockists please, I have tried several times since Mav and I first had a "conversation" about them, but the search engine I mostly use didn't find a list outside of Sweden:eek:

Enjoying the curtain sagas, but I must confess to having a 'spare' pair of bedroom curtains :o Our bedroom overlooks the street, and I put up the spare pair when I take the current ones down to launder / iron them - no guarantee of getting them washed, dried (no tumble drier here and they are a lined cotton fabric) and ironed between getting up and going to bed time, and I don't fancy going to bed / getting changed in front of the whole street

Re. pillows - most of mine are feather/down. I wash them in the summer on a 90C wash, then tumble dry until crispy. The stuff about skin cells and dust mite poo is science not marketing, so they need keeping clean.

Totally agree! The article I read about the weight of dust mites etc was in a science publication. The changing them frequently i.e every 6 months was on a website that sold pillows................just saying:D;):D

:) Thanks for your good wishes. Nan is sitting up in the chair beside her bed, on an antibiotic drip and saline. She's a bit wan but the consultant who did her surgery on Monday heard she was admitted yesterday afternoon and came to see her right away. He's a lovely bloke, they were very chary about operating on the lower leg of a lady of her advanced age, but it was an invasive skin cancer and there weren't any good choices left.

Anyway, taking it one day at a time. Dad will go get Aunt tomorrow afternoon and go visit, Mum will go on Monday, etc etc. They're very good at that hospital.

Among curtain wrangling and dead bird disposal (Dad peeked in the placcy bag I put it in, decided it was a sparrow and that he'd put it, minus placcy bag, into their compost heap). Which then made me anxious that there was a placcy bag in this house with dead bird germs in it, but he reassured me that the bag went straight in the bin.:rotfl:

I am dismantling some cushions to get at the materials and the zips and the degraded foam inners are already in the bin. These are items which couldn't be got rid of in September, so we've come on apace since then.

:p By golly, at this rate, there'll soon be enough room up in that loft for birdies to fly about unhindered..........
