    Morning all
Sounds like lots have their work cut out helping family kondo their excess.

Mavvy looking forward to seeing a stall set up on the esplanade next time I visit Norfolk.

It's half term here and Dh is off so we may clear some excess even if it's just watching some DVDs to take to the chasser.

    Have a joyful day all.

No excuses today - house to myself and I have to stay in for a delivery - no snowy mountains in the sunshine for me:(

What to tackle though..............every category needs a revisit.....TBH I am a bit of an area/room kondoite if truth be known. Maybe I will start with this desk:eek:

Better safe than sorry. When I discard old machines, I remove the hard disks, take them apart as far as possible, bash 'em with a hammer, and leave them out in the rain for a week :D.

If national security needed to, bet they could still extract stuff from it:eek::eek:;)

Laptop is still going with the zeroing and looks like it hasn't started the overwrite yet. Getting the HD out of the iMac will be a major job so not sure I'll bother. It hasn't been used for at least 5 years!
Can I ask, what *is* zeroing? Is it the same as reformatting?

OH and I went and looked at a potential new home on Saturday. The owner who showed my her home opened the cupboard doors in her bedroom. Single door to what should be a double width built in wardrobe, same arrangement in the room alongside it. All her clothes jammed in on nasty thin wire hangars........ arghhh, about 18 inches of rail to either side of the door you couldn't see or barely reach. Couldn't bear to have lived with that arrangement but it would have meant ripping bits of walls out! Too many other things which would have required expensive changes and it was overpriced for what it was, so we walked away.

I took out a subscription for a magazine and the free gift was out of stock:mad:. So instead I got a huge box with 4 pyrex items a fancy mug and a wonderful gardening book. truly joyful. The pyrex is a small veg dish, a souffl! dish, a flan dish the size smaller than the one I already have and a tiny measuring jug which I have wanted for a while but was too mean to buy. :j

It overwrites the entire disk with zeros. Then I'm overwriting with random zeros and ones 8 times. Then if I wanted to use it again I'd have to format it :) But I don't.

Got the other one out of the machine, but one screw is still attached to the metal housing that it and the DVD drive were in. So all the rest will be off to the tip and I'll keep this until I have time to drill a couple of holes in it.
  • I went back through clothes, jewellery and toiletries at the weekend, Igamogam. I found a good heap of stuff to thank and let go. I am trialling a pair of shoes today that were at the back of the wardrobe for a good while without being worn. I'm pleased to say that they are sparking much joy at present - v comfortable (despite having heels) and they're red, I feel a bit like Dorothy. They will definitely be in regular use now.
Kitchen is a bit of a disaster zone - my own fault for using it as a dumping ground and not putting stuff away. I think that will be tonight's task.

First off may I say Grey Queen hats off to you as I am exhusted. I only did 4 hours how you can do a weekend or more you need a medal :T
Well 17 sheets of all shapes and sizes
    Drum roll
    wait for it
kept for dust sheets :rotfl:Even the fluffy faux sheepskin type one which goes over the matress x2 single and double :rotfl:

How many dust sheets does an 83 year old need. I told him I am now questioning his sanity and thinking about putting the POA in to place :D

The most exciting thing is the massive cupboard I mentioned before I have found out today when I had a peek. Has a rail across the middle of it with old coats etc hanging in behind that it goes back at least another 8 ft and has a light switch behind the coats. It is filled with boxes and when I said to Dad whats in them he had no idea :rotfl:So I quicky shut the door and said we will do it next time.;)

Said the same about the 4  bootsale cupboards :o and the dressing table and all the drawers in both bedrooms and the massive cupboard in the en-suite and bathroom :rotfl:and the walk in cupboard in the kitchen :D

If the flat is ever sold I reckon it needs to read Storage unit with a bit of living space as thats how it feels.

Did get 3 big bin bags to the chazzer and 3 out for rubbish as it had all died in storage.

Dad has (ish) sorted (ish) photos and cards into 19 shoe boxes (I counted) with labels on saying things like Mountains, cards before 1951  and one which said 'people' and under that'I dont know':rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:When questioned on that one yes it is a whole box with people who he doesnt know :D
