Dizzy my deepest condolences to you and yours on the passing of your nan. I wish we were close enough to help in some practical way. Sending hugs and coping vibes.
Pigpen hope the hat pattern gets more interesting, I'm trying a new crochet pattern it's really easy but looks nice Nd after the first few rows I can do it without thinking so it's easy to do while watching DVDs
Need to have a shower and wash my hair then I'll make a start on tidying before visitors come round.

  • Hi

Please may I come back? Been away too long and house is and the house looks like it has been ransacked.

I have written a huge frog list for the whole house and it feels quite overwhelming but I think I am going to try to break it down into 12 projects over the year. Baby steps.

Before I tackle any of that though, I need to get some order back into this place and get my boys (8 and 7) into helping out a bit more.

    Here is today's list:

Monday - a bit of everything!
    Level 1
Rehoming - find a convenient spot and gather up all the new and existing items that need a home. Spend 10 min sorting into piles according to which room they will go to. Maybe pop them in old carrier bags and enlist some help to "deliver" them to the right homes!
    Level 2
Dust and deweb all through downstairs
    Sweep or vac too
Tidy your tree or xmas decs - are all the chocs eaten? Can you dust around / under?
    Level 3
Sort through the fridge - any leftovers that need to be binned? What do you need between now and new year?
Wipe down all the kitchen counters and the sink
S&S the downstairs loo / cloak.
    Extras
Sort your laundry - get cracking if you want empty baskets by Thursday!
Start the ironing, if you're joining the challenge! Sort it into 4 piles and do the first one!
Treat yourself to something light and healthy for lunch - do you have time for HM soup?
Reorganise boys rooms so they are more likely to put things in their place

I hope things start to improve soon for those in flooded areas.

    Make £2,021 in 2021 - £148.95/£2,021 (7.3%)
  • Getting through the list this morning. Youngest two are up and breakfasted. DS2 is still fast asleep. Ive chopped leftover chicken and ham for pie and left a little chicken for the soup I will make later. Chicken stock is on with all the bones etc in it and the washing up is done. Having a cuppa and a browse now:)

    Morning all

Welcome newbies & welcome back returners :D

Dizzy - Sorry for your loss. Massive hugs with coping vibes, floods stay away and mice get chased vibes to you.

I've decided to do some laundry after all today. I'm going to go for a long hot soak in the bath later as I've woken up with backache, so I'll be changing my bed etc. I also need to get my diary & new filofax sorted with all the various dates. Seriously considering doing stickers on the computer to minimise the amount of times I need to write the same work related things out, and my "week ahead" for the notes section which tells me what's happening the following week so I can remember to post birthday cards etc in time (not that that worked all the time in 2015). Hoping to be more organised in 2016 but we shall see.

For Christmas this year we donated 'shoeboxes' to the needy (homeless, vulnerable, various shelters, YMCA, dogs trust etc) through a charity here in Liverpool instead of buying those over 18 gifts. We plan to do the same next year so I want to make a start on what we need to buy so I can buy one thing each week in theory, but I'm also going to use my wool stash up to knit some blankets, maybe some scarves, and I might even challenge myself to have a go at some dog jumpers. So decluttering, keeping me busy, doing something I enjoy, helping those who are in need, and sorting Christmas gifts out for those we struggle to buy for all in one go. ;)

    Personal:
    Set up diary
    Set up filofax
    Clip dogs claws & groom
Laundry - towels, mixed, dark, light - Towels in TD, mixed in WM
Change bed - Stripped and airing
    Grocery inventory & flinging session
    Meal plan
Set up grocery lists in filofax
    Wash up
Find some knitting patterns to use up wool stash
    Bins out
    Scrub yard

Think I'm going to potter around online while I have a coffee and until my CD finishes then I'll get stuck in.

Healing vibes for Mr Ionafan and everyone else who is feeling under the weather now that Christmas itself is over.

Your December sounds like the December from Hell, Dizzy. I'd have done exactly what you did last night after all that, especially as you've managed to be so upbeat through it all. (((more hugs)))

Welcome back FBO, Wendy, Skint and Missymoo - sorry that's a week or two late for some of you but I'm still running to catch up.

The rest of the turkey is being dealt with today, and I've just cleaned the kitchen sink properly, having done one load of the immense stack of washing. Back to basics here.
    Better is good enough.
  • Picture up, checked tomorrow is bin day so all recycling and rubbish will be out tonight. Must remember to put mils out as well later. Lounge bathroom and kitchen have had a good S&S, our bed made and wm is on. One of the children at school kindly bought me a lovely notebook and pen set, that will be my lists book for the new year. The Plan is to one day be organised.
Promised ds1 well take him to e local at lunchtime for a game of pool as he's back at work tomorrow, so nipping down before the visitors arrive.

    Have a good day all

Dizzy - sending huge hugs and copious amounts of coping vibes your way. I don't know whereabouts in Sussex you are, but I'm in Hampshire and free at the end of the week if I can help in any way. Thoughts and prayers for all who knew and loved Grandma - a fantastic age but sorely missed xx

Welcome back to all returners and hello to any newbies x

I'm about to deep clean the giant ratty cage and then the babies can join the others (and, hopefully, get along nicely!)

    Back later x

    A quick:wave: to everyone today.
Mr N and I went to the gym, so feel virtuous. Stopped at local 'garden centre' for free coffee and bought next year's Xmas cards in the sale, Mr N also got a really nice coat half price.

Just walked round the garden, amazing how much is sprouting/flowering etc. Next big plan is to replace a very long (about 80ft) pergola which is mainly rotten. Have to decide whether to replace it all (unlikely) or just build a smaller one, keeping some posts where they are as they have bird boxes on.

    Filled bird feeders.
About to have a quick check round lounge before friend comes round for tea.
    Sunny here (Herts).
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
  • All decs down and cards gone. Need to clean loos and some glass and peel carrots for tea. Hope everyone ok X
