It is quite easy to lose the details on several thousand court cases is it not?0 -
A non paywall report on the Times article in the Telegraph

Following the Times article on parking companies and the article in the Telegraph regarding Sainsbury's, I emailed Mike Coupe, CEO of Sainsbury's.
Today, this email arrived
"Thank you for getting in touch with Mike Coupe about the recent article regarding the overall slowdown in sales among the “Big 4” in the Telegraph. Mike has asked that I reply to you on his behalf. I understand that you strongly believe that one of the ways to counteract this would be to rethink our policies regarding parking charges. I am sorry to learn that you still have got some concerns about these. We are committed to making a real difference to the communities where we have a presence.
Just as there are many attributable reasons for the current slowdown e.g. the impact of commodity-led deflation and the impact of Lidl and Aldi, it would be remiss of us not to take into consideration the valid points you’ve raised.I have logged your concerns for the attention of our corporate affairs team. We welcome your comments and will give full consideration to them when reviewing our future corporate policy.
We are grateful for your feedback. We look forward to seeing you in store again soon. and hope you'll visit us again soon.
Kind regards
Michael Bannon | Sainsbury's Careline Senior Advisor
Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd | 33 Holborn, London | EC1N 2HT
Time will tell, but the more people who contact the CEO of the companies, the more they will listen.
IGNORANCE DOES NOT MAKE PROFITS0 -
Having recently moved to Southport, I find the parking situation there at the large supermarkets in town facinating and bizarre!
Sainsburys, Morrisons and Asda are all within easy walking distance of the Promenade so they seem obsessed with preventing holidaymakers from using their car parks. As a result, I and I'm sure many other residents rush around the stores buying only essentials in order that we can avoid risking overunning the various restricted time allowances for each store. True you can pay and then receive a refund but as each store has different systems, times and ts ans cs, we simply avoid spending time in the stores!
Tesco are out of town with unrestricted parking so must be coining it!!0 -

And thereby hangs the tale of supermarkets not looking on their own doorstep as to why profits are down0 -

Asda do NOT control the car park outside their store. The Council do, Sefton to be more precise.0 -
As someone who has to visit Asda Southport, i will for once come to their defence (not something i usually do).
Asda do NOT control the car park outside their store. The Council do, Sefton to be more precise.
not wanting to argue with you (I do not know the location) , however ASDA have a habit of telling people that they do not "actually" own the car park , in order to get rid of complainers.
does this site have the "preverbal" smart (insert other scumbags here) parking signs , or is it CLEARLY marked sefton councilSave a Rachael

They do NOT control Southport.
And yes, i am very aware of the tactics of 'not so smart' and the customer service fob off. Afterall i collect their tickets for fun.
I was also instrumental in getting 'not so smart' suspended from accessing the DVLA data because of their own incompetence.0
