  • Seems like I have not been here for ages, it is year end at work, so really busy and having one of those periods when your social life is hectic also. Think I need to slow done, house looks as if a bomb has hit it, need to do something at weekend. Had been asked to deliver some stuff to some who had been re-housed having been made homeless. As she has children in school, and those that asked me have children in same school, they felt it would be better for me to go as I don't know her and the one thing that has shone through everything is her self pride & dignity. She had been asked what she wanted, bless her as she had been given bunk beds, her priority was a table & chairs so homework & meals could be done at table. She was over the moon at getting them, and a bed for herself! So refreshing to meet someone who prioritises needs over wants. As it was the bed in my spare room, I know need to sort it out, been thinking of using it as a library, with a futon/sofa bed for some time, she gave me the impetus to do it.

Not done anything Christmassy per se, but did pick up some silver earrings in Sainsburys at the weekend, so will put them away as token gifts. Need to start thinking about making my Christmas cakes, going away end of July, so would like to have them all done by then.

Will do a proper catch up over the weekend, can tell you all about my lunch at the Shard, followed by going to the viewing platform, then a bus tour with afternoon tea. Will not feel like eating for a week I will be such a pig on Friday!

Thank you PRINCESSKITTY, VULPIX, NEWTHRIFT, MRSINVISIBLE 3FORHOLUDAYS and SALMAGUNDI.

MRSINVISIBLE I hope you were able to help your DD through her very difficult time. I know she must miss him so much all the time but anniversaries of any sort always seem to be even harder, bringing everything into such sharp focus. Thank goodness she's got her lovely mum for support.

PRINCESSKITTY that's good news that you've made friends with someone who's also new to the area, you can settle in together :)

NEWTHRIFT I hope your DH is feeling better now.

VULPIX I hope you enjoyed your unexpected weather fountain and it was all connected up again quickly.

NIC my granddaughter is mad about Shopkins at the moment although I must admit I really can't see why, they seem a bit pointless to me but then what do I know lol?

GTQ tea at the Shard sounds fab, I think I need to hear all about it!

    FREE, thinking of you x

Belated birthday wishes to Quidsy. Hope that you had a lovely day.

GTQ I'm looking forward to hearing all about your adventures in London - might give me some ideas for things to do next time!

PrincessKitty Glad to read that you met someone who is also new to the area. :)

    Thinking of you Freespirit!

Peppa Great to hear from you! :)

  • Hi all

Hugs to Free. I am hoping you are bearing up xx

Princess, thanks for the link I may not manage 100 but will have fun trying.Pleased about you meeting another new-to-area mum.

I am off to Malta in 3 days so I am hoping to find some nice things there to buy for Christmas. It is always lovely on Christmas morning when people are opening their gifts and they remind me of days away or holidays I have been on. I only buy for my parents, husband and children and their OHs so it is not a long list.

It is usually work I have issues with. We do a secret Santa but I usually give a little gift to each of them. I have done home made Christmas chutney in small jars, snowman soup and last year I did reindeer noses. Really need inspiration for this year but I am afraid to go onto Pinterest. It seems to have a time zone all of it's own. I “pop” on and 5 minutes later I have lost 2 hours of time!!!!

Well, off to check the spreadsheet for my holibobs to ensure I forget nothing

    Hugs to all

    xxx
Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j

Nitnurse I have the same 'time-zone' issue when I go on Pinterest haha!

Well DH is better than over the weekend but he still isn't right, it's so unlike him to be not well. I'm trying to get him to go to the Dr's if he is no better over night as I'm a little concerned. Just such a mashing of different and changing symptoms. It may all be stress related as he is more stressed atm but I would rather he get checked out as its very out of sorts for him.
    Nothing much to report in.
    Hope everyone is ok x
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Afternoon everyone, aww you lovely ladies who have been concerned about me on here and private messages thankyou it has brought tears to my eyes while i am sat here, something made me log in and it is probably just what i needed, i have been in a bit of a fug, still really ill, with this colon/stomach thing it will be 3 months at the end of this week :( and it has gotten me right down i have to admit, it has really stopped me from getting on with most things in life, even down to not being able to bear thinking about let alone cooking dinners, i just got fed up with having nothing to say on here except im still in pain/ill, when there are much worse things our lovelies are going through, or even every night the kids come home from work and ask how i am.

I havent got to the point where i want to go back on ADs so that is good, i have also been wrapping the christmas presents that i already have (as again i usually wrap as i buy but i just cba was chucking them in the wardrobe) i had a survey payout and bought some dinosaur toys, book and puzzle for Thumper to put away for christmas so i think i am back in the christmas zone again (thank gawd) :D I also broke my glasses TWICE!!! so had to go to opticians and fork out for some new ones  that has had to go on my CC :o which is really annoying! Anyway i see the dr on friday so we can discuss my results and see where we go from here because although i am stressed even thinking about more tests etc i need to sort this out once and for all. DD2 op wasnt that successful :( she still has the pains in her back the only thing she has noticed is she can stand for longer without it hurting so much!!

PEPPAPIG i so admire you, you are being so strong and its very understandable you are terrified about the chemo, i have everything crossed that you wont suffer the awful sickness/side effects and wish you all the luck in the world beating this. Hope you are having lots of cuddles with your grandchildren to take your mind off it

VULPIX thankyou also for saying what you did, it was lovely to read thankyou x how is your toe? Your luck definitely needs to change healthwise too!!!

NITNURSE i hope you have a fabby holiday my lovely

NEWTHRIFT you are definitely putting the time in with your gift lists ;) i hope your DH is better now! I pinned one of your pins the other day about 100 christmas advent things to do and although i wasnt going to do it again this year (i still have the gingerbread house waiting to be made in the cupboard) there were some really lovely things to do on there and i think it may change my mind :D

MRSINVISIBLE i cant believe it is a year your DDs DH died, bless her, i hope she has gotten through it ok with your love and thoughtfulness helping her

PRINCESSKITTY im so glad you have found another mum in your position, keep doing what you are doing and you will be perfectly fine :) How disappointing for you regarding your tea at the Ritz, that is quite shocking really for somewhere like that, i hope the tea was a bit more enjoyable!

NIC i think MSGIGGLEWICK is the expert on Shopkins on here as her DD loves them! Glad the job is still going well

QUIDSY aww im sorry i havent been on to say happy birthday, :bdaycake: i hope you had a wonderful day!
GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY oh well done you for doing something so lovely! Ooh i want to hear all about the shard and your other trips out :D

3FORHOLIDAYS thankyou my lovely, i hope you are well!

  • So nice to see you back here posting again freespirit, but in your own time, I know how quickly one day off the forum soon turns into five, but everyone fits straight back in no matter how long they are awol for.
Cannot even think of advice for the pain you and some of the other lovelies are in because thankfully I've not had to deal with that, but that does not stop me from being a shoulder if you ever need a rant. xx

Lovely to have you posting again FREE, you've been missed. I do hope your doctor is able to offer you some light at the end of the tunnel. You'll feel so much better if you can manage your symptoms so they stop taking over your life. Good for you being strong about the docs appointment too, we know how difficult these things can be for you but you're doing a great job in facing your fears. Sorry to hear DD's op hasn't made as much difference as was hoped, ending hugs for you both.

You're right, I'm getting a many cuddles as I can. DD brought littlest DGS over today which was lovely and I'll see all three of them on Sunday as it's my DGD's 'family' birthday party - I love her very much but the thought of going to her actual party with about thirty or more hyped up children is pushing it a bit far lol :D
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • Great to see you back on here Free. hope dr can sort things for you.

Peppa - hope your chemo etc isn't too bad. sends lots of cranberry juice your way.

Nic - check out amazon, they often have the shopkins playsets down in offer. You may be lucky and get the odd bargain from tescos too.

I ordered dd2's main christmas pressie the other day at less than half price... complete set of the pens an illustrator recommended to her. So she'll be happy. Not really done much else as its my dd3's 14th bday tomorrow so been busy with that.. I'm making a red velvet oreo cake on her request.. its going to be very un diet friendly lol .... talking of which i've been back on the slimming world diet now just over 2 weeks.. lost 6lbs so far. got a few stone to go until im back to where i was before my dad and others died last year. but its going now! so must not dwell on the fact its there.. Sorry all I haven't been On this thread for ages. I've tried back reading but you've all had so much going on.
Hugs where needed and it sounds like a lot of you do from what I've quickly read.

Not had much Christmassy going on but I've been really busy as I've got some extra days at work and I've been trying to clear some of my crafting stash.

Will pop back more often and try and keep up.
