  • Happy Birthday 3 for the holidays!

I've finally broken up for 2 blissful but busy weeks off. It's my birthday tomorrow, then the wedding on 23rd, then tumbling straight into Christmas. December has flown by even while I've been stuck at work, so my time off will whizz by.

I'm going to try and fit some present wrapping in around all the other plans for today, going out for a meal this evening to celebrate my birthday and have a hair appointment and the like booked to get myself beautified. (That doesn't happen very often!)

That's great news MRSINVISIBLE, hope you all have a fabulous Christmas :T. Looks like you might have to take up the guitar lol. My mum has done something similar, she's so difficult to buy for (82, borderline diabetic, doesn't drink, doesn't want smellies or ornaments, no hobbies to speak of, etc.). DD1 has bought her a brooch, DD2 a photo book, I've got her a furry covered hot water bottle that she'll probably never use and my sister has got her a puzzle because doing jigsaws is her only hobby. Yesterday she suddenly said she's going to stop doing jigsaws, grrr!

CREATIVEGAL enjoy your time off. You're right it will whizz by but enjoy each day as it comes and at least you'll have made the most of it.

Just realised I've completely forgotten about the challenge, oops.

    Hi Folks,

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Creative gal xx

Mrs I have a marvellous time.Like peppa says, time for you to take up the guitar.Haha.

I am FULL of cold.No voice, just squeeks! I have got so much to do.I need to vacc the whole house as bits of the new carpet are in every room.I havent finished decorating the kitchen yet.My stepson is arriving soon as we are all going out later to celebrate Mr V's birthday.I couldn't feel less like going out and being sociable.

Peppa I know what you mean about buying for ladies in their 80's.Made harder for you by your Mum being borderline diabetic. My Mum and MIL want nothing.I just get them fancy bits they wouldnt buy themselves.MIL likes candles and my Mum likes eating! They are the same age and have birthdays on 6th and 11th January, how very inconsiderate.I always get my Mum Christmas cake and Christmas pudding in the sales as its her favourite.I saw the old lady who was Nan in The royal family being interviewed once and she said she asked her family for toilet rolls for Christmas as she wanted nothing but they wanted to give something.I did think they could have got her something like a jar of coffee instead!

Thanks for candle info Chrissy.MIL will be getting one for her Birthday!

Today is my last day without DD2.I planned to be all ready and spend today elegantly wrapping and listening to Christmas songs,NOPE.Wheezing along getting nowhere fast!!!

    Laters Vx

VULPIX sorry to hear you're poorly. We used to get Mum biscuits and chocolate but of course that's out now. I tried buying a candle once but she wouldn't burn it so it just sat on the side. DD bought her a mug with biscuits last year and she said 'I don't know why Sarah bought me a mug, I've already got one'. I give up lol.

Have a fabulous trip FREE and do what DD says, relax and order what you want. She's arranged a wonderful trip for you so enjoy and put MSE principles aside for the weekend. You've raised wonderful, caring children and I they'll get a real kick out of seeing you enjoy yourself. Oh and of course we'll need to hear about it when you get back :D

  • Have a great time Mrs I and Free.
I have giggled at your present problems! I did framed photos of the boy for my awkward ones. They all love pictures of family, they don't see us much and my brother wouldn't ever send pictures of my nieces, or anything else for that matter! I've done picture calendars and picture mugs in the past too. It doesn't hurt that the boy is an absolute beauty! I find buying for men a nightmare. I did some nice bourbon for dad and wallets for my brothers this year.

    Feel better soon vulpix!

Grandad was rushed to hospital last night. He's stable and is under observation for a few days. He does like to scare us. Hoping that they'll keep him in over Christmas because we live so far away and my uncle is away over Christmas so there's no one to keep an eye on him. Plus he's a stubborn old git!
