still haven't managed to catch up yet :o as had a lot going on so apologies if I've missed anything important

Peppa sorry to hear about your results fingers crossed the next ones will bring good news.

The tree is up :j still need to do the rest of the decs but currently moving furniture and decorating so need to get that finished 1st.
Still need some stocking fillers and a couple of gift vouchers (they can wait till last minute) but otherwise I'm pretty much done present wise just need to get everything wrapped.
Re ordered taz's main present as found it even cheaper on a black friday deal so will take the original one back for a refund when that turns up.
Had some great luck on the nectar double up not only did I get ds game using points but they gave me bonus points back equal to what I spent so going to put them towards the xmas food shop.

Had a slight change of plans/tradition and booked a meal out xmas eve. I had a pre op for an op on my arm and should get an appointment within the next 6wks so there's a chance it could be before xmas(honestly not expecting it to be but you never know)and didn't want to try and sort something last minute if I can't cook. I might cheat a little and get some ready to cook bits in just in case too.

Still need to get my scratch cards but haven't seen any £1 xmas ones this year. Not sure wether to pay the extra get the £2 ones or just pick up some normal £1 ones?

Not sure if anyone's posted but lidl had the cellophane wrap in

Has anyone seen any disney winnie the pooh xmas wrap? SDD wants some but I can't seem to find any this year

can't wait till tomorrow the countdown is officially on and the xmas elves arrive

    tc all
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk
  • I did some stitching last night and it was tenuously related to the challenge so I'm back on with that but my reveal will be a little later as it's destined to go to someone on mse and I'm not sure if they look at this thread.

Been busy making reindeer food for the kiddies in one of my classes, the other are getting knitted mini stockings which I still haven't finished. Friday is decoration day where I work so the Christmas t shirt will be getting its first airing of the year. Gave DGS his Christmas elf jacket and pjs at te weekend so they can be worn all through December.

Hoping to get the deccys and tree up at the weekend

Hugs and good wishes to all who need them. Busy again today so will pop in later to catch up. X

good Morning everyone, I am so sorry I have not been on. I have been working extra hours, husband has had a minor operation and we have been doing helping alot at church. I have been trying to keep up with the thread.
I have not had chance to do the reindeer challenge, was hoping to start it at weekend but never got chance.
Before I buy another gift I need to start wrapping as I have a sneaky feeling I have actually purchased more than I have written in my notebook. Also need to get my christmas elf stuff out ready for tomorrow, my DD is beyond excited.

Peppa- I am sure the news knocked you for 6, I am sending big hugs, positive thoughts and prayers xx Just think of this as your official goodbye to the big C, It is like the final act, the final HUGE kick up the jacksy! I can only imagine how you must feel but you are not alone and we are all here if you need us xx
GTQ- I agree with other statements,Amazon will tell you to keep it. Charity is a great idea.
free- Loving the arrangement you are so talented. I remember loving it last year. I too would love a tutorial if you have chance xxx I too do not get the nightmare before christmas film, my dd likes it so have tried to watch it but cannot sit through it.
vulpix- I too think a porch tree is needed, and the 8ft tree will be needed at some point so do not get rid of it.
murie- WOW that is an amazing deal for your tree, I need a new one so will be looking in the sales.
mrs moneypenny- You are very talented making cushion covers. I once wanted to make my DS and DD one of those huge pillows with arms on ( think snuggle pillow), lets just say I had to throw the sad attempt lol
domravioli- sorry to hear your hubby was ill on his bday, I too need to do the wrapping, it is the task I start of loving and then get bored lol
franalamadingdong- Hope you feel better soon, there is so much going around, sounds like your DS has been looking after you.
chrissyg- my tree looks like it has shrunk, I desperately need a new one. Hope you and dd enjoy the coca cola truck on 8th, it will soon be here.
LMG1305- I agree with you and free about the nightmare before christmas. just cannot get into it. Jingle all the way is one of our family favourites here.
clumsy42- the stars sound like they will be lovely, what a fantastic idea x Your boots sound like a good purchase, I need new boots but have not looked in clarks, will have a look.
mandco- good spot with Tazs main gift. I think you are right to be prepared just in case they call you in for your operation as you never know.
pinksteps- hope you are ok, Wow lucky for your mum re the table.

I am sorry if I have missed anybody out, it is not intentional and I vow to keep up to date. Big hugs and christmas sprinkles to everyone xxxx
  • 04624181 I used to work as a Over locker and machinist in the yearsBC (before children) and I'm of an age where we were taught sewing at school so I know my way round a dress pattern and piece of Aida fabric. Thanks to mrs hodby, all those years we dissed her lessons and complained how boring they were and she Really was teaching us a valuable life skill.

  • :rotfl::rotfl:Just been speaking to Amazon, I must be the only one that they have ever said they will send someone to collect an order delivered in error:rotfl: Oh well, maybe we will get a lot more raffle tickets sold instead.

I've been reading every few days trying to keep up but just haven't sat and posted.

Peppa - Sorry the results weren't great but fingers crossed for you that the next ones will have good news.

GTQ - :rotfl: that is just typical!!!!

I need to marzipan the two christmas cakes tonight so they can settle ready for decorating saturday. DH hasn't managed to get me the decs off the loft yet so i'm hoping he'll get me some down tomorrow, even if just enough so I can begin my tree! Usually I would have everything up by the end of tomorrow which I know will be a long shot as I have an appointment in the middle of the day but would be nice to get most stuff up.

I can't remember everything I have read so just sending Christmassy hugs and hoping everyone is well - DECEMBER TOMORROW :D
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Oh GTQ that's so annoying! Hopefully they won't turn up. I feel bad now for encouraging you to call them. :(. Well you've done the honourable thing so hopefully karma will ensure the raffle is a great success.

I've reported the post from christmaslord as spam, they're obviously just trying to build up a 'posts' record. If a few of us report it then it'll get removed.

04624181 - I think we're all the same at the moment, it's such a busy time of year I am hardly getting on here at all at the moment! We all love Arthur Christmas in our house and I highly recommend you watch it if you can. I also love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, it was the movie we would always watch on Christmas Eve when me & my sisters all still lived at home. I don't get to watch it on Christmas Eve now because my girls choose the movie (usually Arthur Christmas) but I do always try to watch it at some point over the Christmas period.

GTQ - that's typical but I wonder if it's maybe the value of the item/items. It's possible they have a limit that they can write off in these circumstances but these items go over that limit. I know Lego is very expensive, especially the bigger sets. It was good of you to contact them though, I'm sure there are lots of people who would keep quiet about it.

mandco - I don't think I've seen any £1 Christmas scratchcards this year. I bought some £2 to give to my sisters and I bought myself a £5 one, I've already scratched it & have won my £5 back. Just need to get to the shop to claim it. I did have a little search for you on Google for Winnie the Pooh Christmas wrap but the only one I found in stock was from America & $14 per roll!! There are Winnie the Pooh wrapping paper rolls on Amazon but they're not Christmas themed.

Peppa - I hope you're feeling ok. Thinking of you x

Free - that arrangement is lovely. I would never be able to create something like that, I'm useless with most crafty things. I can just about make a ready bought bouquet of flowers look pretty in a vase :rotfl:

newthrift - I hope you get to put your decs up soon. I have put some of mine up but still have another tree to put up & decorate and some other bits & bobs to put round the house. I also have 2 small pre-lit trees to put up in my daughters rooms but I'm still trying to get them cleared out & tidied up before I put them up.

ChrissyG - I love the Coca Cola Christmas advert, when it starts coming on TV it always feels like Christmas is really coming. We were lucky a few years ago, we had taken a trip in to our city centre to do some Christmas shopping and it was there. We didn't bother queuing to get a can of coke or an 'official' photo but we did manage to stand on the other side of it and got a good photo beside it.

DomRavioli - Hope the OH is feeling better now. I've only got 2 people to buy for now, everybody else is finished. I've placed my grocery order ready to be delivered on December 22nd. I wanted to make sure I got a Christmas slot so just ordered loads of things and keep going back in to take things off or add things on. I always order it for December 22nd so if anything is out of stock or gets substituted I can go out on December 23rd to get those bits. I went grocery shopping on Christmas Eve the first year we were in our own house & I vowed never to do it again, it was crazy busy, people everywhere, queues were ridiculous and the shelves were running low by the time we got there . My OH sorts the meat out and we usually get a few extra treats from Costco a few days before Christmas Eve.

I can't believe how quickly this year is going. December tomorrow & the schools break up in just over 2 weeks! I have lots of wrapping still to do but now that my tree is up I will start wrapping our friends & family's gifts to put them under it so at least that's some wrapping done.

Right I've rambled on long enough. Sorry to anybody I have missed replying to, I hope everybody is having a good day. I'd better get back to work now I suppose, my lunch break has been slightly longer than it should have been :rotfl:

Reindeer challenge complete! Have added two little mini reindeer to the big ones we made last year. I planned and supervised but I must admit DH did the cutting and drilling. First pic is the reindeer challenge, second pic is the new little ones with the rest of the herd lol.

It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • Afternoon everyone, jeez its so cold here :o the LR is now all clean and ready for us to go and choose a tree on saturday now :D

Here is my reindeer, i have decopatched it, not that pleased with it really although i love the little reindeers on the paper :D

    IMG_1511_zpsocnrq6vi.jpg

PEPPAPIG i absolutely love your family of reindeers they look so sweet. Funnily enough i was looking at a house opposite while i was washing up and they have one in their front garden too. Oh blimey i wouldnt know where to start with a tutorial, they are so easy to make anyone could make them, i start with a plastic rectangle floristry tray and a rectangle piece of oasis, soak the oasis for 20 mins so it is wet all the way through, wrap some floristry tape around the oasis and tray to hold it on securely. Then start at the bottom with fir tree greenery all around the oasis in one layer. Then put your candles or whatever you are using in place and cut some greenery up and poke into the oasis then dot your flowers around all the while making sure it is equal all the way around, then poke more greenery in the gaps to make it nice and bushy. Keep the oasis topped up with water every couple of days so it doesnt dry out. You can buy all different shaped trays, oasis and make your own arrangement up. Can we see piccies of your new tree all up and decorated please :D

LMG oh i am glad i am not the only one who finds the fascination with the film funny. I too love National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and watch it whenever i can, but my kids think it is really old fashioned and wont watch it with me

DOMRAVIOLI i hope your OH is better soon

FRAN oh bless your little boy looking after his mumma, i hope you feel better soon

CHRISSY i loved seeing the coca cola truck last year but get there early unless you dont mind huge crowds

CLUMSY i really enjoying doing decopatch, i have seen the stars and they are lovely

MANDCO i dont blame you for booking a meal out, you know if you dont it will happen around then!! I still need to get my christmas scratchcards too!

MRSMONEYPENNY aww i bet DGS will look so cute in those clothes

04624181 i cant believe it is time for advent calendars and elves tomorrow, november has just disappeared??

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY oh no typical, i have never had it happen to me either, the last time the company who sent the wrong thing sent a prepaid envelope for me to send back to them

NEWTHRIFT i hope we get to see your lovely christmas cakes
