  • Yay to progress with the interlopers GTQ! Maybe I'm your mum in a parallel universe lol:D
  • That's good news GTQ. Hopefully they'll all hightail it out of there before they get what's coming to them!

What an apt name for this thread fairy lights!

    That's so annoying peppa/Mrs H!

Good tip Chrissy, we don't have an asda near us. At Mr T there were peppa pig advent calendars for 50p and star wars for 75p. They had one of those nutibullet things for £41 too. I don't want one but I keep seeing people barmy for them. It was ys though.

Well the boy instantly projectile vomited after his flu spray thing in two places and on another child! Thankfully it was at school and there was none on him so I had no vomitty clean up but I must apologise to the poor child's mother on Monday. We're going to their house on Tuesday! Well, we are if she forgives us! It meant we couldn't go to another friend's party today although he's ok and it was the spray I didn't want to risk it.

I used non-party time wisely and had a look at @mazon's lightening deals and saw fit flops on a deal for £21! Mum lives in these and they show! But they're normally £50 I knew if I just waited I'd know her perfect gift when I saw it. I've gotten her some chocolate truffle sprouts when I popped to Mr T today too. It means I just have the one brother left and I'll either get him the same as the other brother (wallet, and they don't see each other) or a Sheffield Wednesday hoodie, but I'm awful at sizings so it's likely going to be the wallet if it is still reduced.
Next job is to write cards, which the boy can mostly do for his class seen as though we left school before he got homework or his reading record back.

    I'm a bit chuffed.
  • Evening everyone, a very happy Free here tonight, i finished the stockings off today and got most of the stuff for the girls pamper hampers, they didnt have all what i wanted so will go to another branch, got the dogs advent calendar (can you believe i spend 6 times the price of the kids calendars :rotfl:) So i feel a lot more organised now, i got some Lebkuchen and Pringles in my shop too to add to the christmas cupboard. I doubled up my sainsburys points and got £30 of clothes for Thumpers birthday (next October :rotfl:) i got them now just in case they stop doing the double up as Tescos have done.

MRSH oh no wonder you were annoyed i cant remember any of my log in details either, i rely on it being open all the time on my laptop, i wouldnt know where to start or who to contact, that is a lovely present for your DH, very thoughtful

CHRISSY i tried to get some in our Asda when i heard about them but theirs werent reduced :(

GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY ooh fingers crossed you have got rid of them, apparently DS read the instructions of our poison and it can take a week to work :(

    Morning everyone

Well my plan for today is after some housework is done to get down all the gifts I already have and go through them and then know what I need to get. I have blanked next weekend out for finishing Christmas stuff and told DH he will have to do the running around for DD at her out of school activities because I'm busy. ;)

I had the first 6 months of this year with no job :( so no money to buy anything apart from in the first couple of weeks when I still had some December wages left. Then I went to work full-time in the summer, so had cash :jbut no spare time.:o Then I took Oct half term off, only for everyone including me to be ill that week.

This is why I'm so far behind (compared to other people on here  - I don't count the foolish people who only start in December:D)

Mrs H- I can imagine you were a tad annoyed! Never mind- we still love ya no matter what you are called ! I think I would struggle to find 24 'reasons I love you' sometimes for my DH!!

GTQ- finger crossed the visitors are on their way out!
Chrissy- sorry your day out was a bit crud- its awful when something you have planned and look forward to doesn't live up to expectations. Was DD very upset?

framalamadindong- ooh nice! Im sure the other mom will be fine- its what kids do and cant be helped. You had a bargain on the fit flops.
Free- YAY!! you've finished the stockings!! I too spend a silly amount on the cat and dogs advent calendar- Its Ruby's 7th birthday today and I have got her a teddy and chew and wrapped them up!! (She loves opening wrapping paper). DH says I make more fuss of them than I do him! I hope your visitor disappears soon too.

Mrs H- I forgot to say the turkey parcel from Aldi was lovely but the salted caramel truffles aren't as nice as I would like- the caramel tastes burnt. ( I had to try them for research purposes you understand!)

Don't forget anyone who wants to take part in the Christmas card swap pm me so I can add their names to the list .
    lovin' this site!

Just a tad ! By the time we got home she had a migraine and had worked herself into a state.

Well i'm super organised i have bought a few items of Amazons lightening deals and added a few bits from DDs birthday wishlist so i can have the free delivery, its all items i would be buying anyway at some point.I hate paying for delivery.

I have my eye test tomorrow [finally] and i think on Tuesday we are going to see the magical beasts film .

I bought one of those huge plastic coca cola savings bottles a while ago the idea being that next christmas we would maybe go out for a meal or a treat , hubby counted it up and theres £41 in it already.:T

  • I've been meaning to post for ages, but not found the time with work and life tiring me out! My husband and I had a break in Cardiff at the beginning of the month, which was a much needed escape from the monotony of work-tea-bed, which had started to set in. We did the Doctor Who Experience, which was great, although perhaps somewhat expensive, the museum, and lots of wandering around the shops. I managed to get my husband a few bits for Christmas, though sadly, only one of them is going to be a surprise.
I made huge inroads into my Christmas present shopping yesterday, as I went into Birmingham with my mother in law, and managed to get quite a bit. (and was treated to a salted caramel cappuccino in Costa- gorgeous and not too sweet.) I still need a little more for my husband, and a couple of presents for friend's children, but other than that, all I need to do is wrap the presents.
I am feeling in a very festive mood at the moment, knowing that lots of excitement is around the corner (and somewhat helped by reading Christmas books - currently on The Chocolate Lover's Christmas, which is ok, but I think I've been rather spoiled by some of the books I've read previously this year that are rather more evocatively descriptive.)
Counting down the working days now until I break up for Christmas.

I'm back!!!!!! The MSE people have been really helpful and sent a renewed password to the account linked to PEPPAPIG, they couldn't tell me which email it was but I just checked them all, including DH's and found it. Hooray! I shall definitely be keeping a note of it this time.

I was planning to do my reindeer challenge today but it's very wet and I need to be outside so that's out for now. The big bonus of not working is that I can be flexible though so hopefully I can get on with it tomorrow instead.

FRANALAMADINGDONG bet your son was popular bless him. :D I've completely forgotten about the Christmas cards. I've bought them but just not sure I'm going to send them, the post is just so expensive.

FREE well done on the pressies. I'm all done now except for DH and DD2's birthday on 1st Jan. I think we're getting her a dressing table but she's still deciding. She's one of those people who prefers to choose than have a surprise - no idea where she gets that from, I live surprises. Well apart from the year my mum bought me tea towels that is, oh and the new toilet seat :rotfl:

MURIE I must admit I liked being MRS-H but didn't like losing all my history and not being able to post pics and things so I'm glad to be back. Big Happy Birthday to Ruby! Glad the turkey parcel was good but annoying about the salted caramel.

CHRISSY well done to you too with your Amazon orders and hope the eye test goes well. I'd like to see Magical Beasts too, I saw the trailer and it looks really good. I bought a glass demijohn on one of the local selling sites a few months ago but haven't put any money in it yet. Maybe we'll start with the new year and see how much we can save.

CREATIVEGAL nice to see you back. I've just read The Chocolate Lovers Christmas but unlike you it was better than a couple of others I've read (or part read). I was really disappointed with the Debbie Macomber books I read and didn't finish them. I prefer the Christmas bits to the romance bits and definitely more than all the physical detail some authors insist on going into. It makes me cringe, it's not 50 shades for goodness sake! I have to skip those pages and get back to snow and trees and all the good stuff for my festive fix!

I can't believe how quickly the time is going now, I think the next few weeks will fly by and I haven't even planned my December activities yet! Going to try making DH's pressie today but will be difficult without him seeing it. Fortunately he's not very observant so probably won't notice.

Happy Sunday everyone. More Christmas films for me today I think.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

    Evening!

Well it has been manic here. Next door but one put some creepy old gazebo thing up, which ended up three doors down in the mad winds. Managed to finally sort out a few things, which includes having an hour with my niece on saturday, so I may get an idea of what to buy her (she's 8 years old, but is 4 feet 10 tall - my dad is 6 feet 9 so we know where she gets it from!) but she is at the age where she isn't into much, not big on music, and finds most toys too childish. She has a tablet, and a DS (my old one!) and she's super happy with them, so I am stuck, hopefully saturday will bring us happiness!

Still haven't managed to buck up the courage to see the surgeon. Or to buy any more xmas presents - I want a couple of computer games, but I'm waiting for black friday, as I know they are in stock everywhere so I can pick them up whenever, but it feels like I am doing nothing! I'm like 30% done on pressies, but its 34 days to go.

Update - I've worn my christmas jumper to work, put my ringtone to Jingle Bells (work phone!), and festived the office up as much as I can get away with. co-worker has calmed the heck down, and I think she's safe for another year...!

Hope everyone is having an awesome thursday/friday.

    How about some DS games?
Morning everyone, i have woken up feeling horrible this morning, im not sure if it is my colitis or just something else

DOMRAVIOLI/VULPIX i find it fascinating that you have snow and i am sitting here with bright sunshine going on

FEISTY i too am going to sainsburys this weekend to trade up my points but i am going to put them towards Thumpers birthday next year to give me a head start

DOMRAVIOLI haha i love that you have saturated your work colleague with christmas already :rotfl:

PIXTOTTS uggh so has my sleeping pattern gone haywire its driving me nuts

CHRISSY have a lovely day out

VULPIX have a lovely couple of days in Oxford

I hope your trade up went better than mine Free! Spent 40 odd minutes finding gifts that would be appreciated and that were included and just as I was about to go and exchange there was a message on the tannoy saying the system was down
28 hours to go, and counting! Feel as if l am on track, though, thank goodness for lists. Hotel has a super cold room, where all the completed stuff can be stored, Fave cous has the responsibility of getting the dress and the cake there. fave niece has the make-up to do, so l think l'm getting off quite lightly. All excited and revved up now.

Good Luck MrsI, can't wait to hear all about it :)

Ok I've calmed down now and I've decided MRS-H is ok. Apparently MSE has connected me to an old account I had in 2009 but as I can't remember my password for PEPPAPIG or which email address I had at the time I'll stay as MRS-H now. :)

Welcome to the thread FAIRYLIGHTS, you're in the right place for all things festive!

Welcome THRIFTKITTEN, your mum's window display sounds lovely.

GTQ and FREESPIRIT and anyone else with unwanted visitors, I hope they go soon, it's horrible knowing that something is there. We had a little guest last year and got the pest man in. I think the little blighter might have come from next door as we covered all holes and the man put poison down. The poison wasn't taken but we never heard from our lodger again. Hope he's not rotting away somewhere!

VULPIX have a lovely time in Oxford, wrap up well.:)

MRSINVISIBLE good luck with the wedding, it sounds like everything is well in hand. You've all done so well getting everything ready. :T

CHRISSEY sorry to hear the trip didn't live up to expectations, it's horrible when that happens, especially when you've made so much effort to go in the first place.

Been into the woods today's to collect some supplies for my reindeer challenge so hopefully will get it done in time if the rain keeps away.

I've decided to go with the 'reasons why I love you' pressie for DH. I think he'll appreciate it and I've come up with lots of reasons now so it's all good. Going to pop to The Works later (all being well) to get either a handmade type book and I'll add a reason to each page or a wooden box to decorate and put a card in for each reason. I can't take credit for the idea but I am happy to steal it lol.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

I was going to ask if you had a seperate account that it was perhaps linking you to :( Well MrsH is still lovely :) Good luck with the foraging!

We can be behind together ;)

I've been feeling a little over-whelmed with everything these last few weeks, so treated myself to a new mat and slippers just for my log cabin!

    15036348_10209240860512065_2184605805879864924_n.jpg?oh=4a8554021ab2aa7b0e34dc61c0f27481&oe=58B9D3B7

Still very behind on Christmas prep and I am very envious of those that are finished! The sainsbury fiasco didn't help, but I am determined to be at least finished with shopping by the end of the month.

Can anyone suggest some things to put in Little My's stocking? She will be 11 months old and I have no idea where to even start!

Also I'd love some recommendations on NONE romance Christmas books? I love a bit of soppiness, but every Christmas book I've read recently has been all about the romance and hardly anything to do with Christmas :(

I am being very naughty and hid in the cabin under the guise of working as the tiny monster is refusing her afternoon nap and I don't have the stamina to cope. I will be super mummy in a minutes and pop her in the sling to do some baking, but right now I need 10 minutes peace :rotfl:
