Cherry24 - Love the sound of your Christmas wrapping!!
I totally agree re the adverts
nic2075 - you can always leave the offer there, that if she has a change of mind it's no problem. I can see why she wants to, but also think she's underestimating a lot.
Does anyone else have ideas for presents then think does such a thing even existlol x
I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
Afternoon all,
Bought our new xmas tree - settled on a 5 feet fibre optic (not my choice!) for the lounge, the battered old one is going in the bar to get more battered, and OH came home with a fireplace garland, that sheds glitter.
Cards all written, finished them off today. Need to get round to buying more things but waiting for black friday and cyber monday to see if they are in the sales.
Not much else to report really, I've been feeling really crappy with the pain meds, and my mental health has taken a real down turn. Still, I'm still here, plodding along, trying not to smack someone in the head (my colleague is the most annoying person on the planet, she hates christmas and if she tells me one more time I may just have to throw a stapler at her). Just had enough today, with the computer systems playing up, bosses AWOL when they need to sort things out and now her...aaaargh! Think I'm going to make a nice cup of tea and pretend she's not here.0 -
Haha GTQ you must have a higher class of mouse!
Nic, sometimes some people won't be told otherwise. Add in the pressure all mum's get to be !!!!!!!g wonder woman and do everything and it all be perfect... Argh. I'm thankfully pretty relaxed about it all now.
Murie, you can shorten my name to Fran, which is easier to type! I'm quite used to the post Christmas birthday now and I've just accepted it. I hate crowds and fuss anyway. Haha.0 -
DOM RAVIOLI I feel your pain with the annoying colleague, you'd be less likely to miss her if you use the phone instead of the stapler :rotfl:
FRANALAMADINGDONG sorry I've got to type the lot, it's such a cool name.
CHERRY I'm quite jealous of your quiet Christmas. I do really love having the family all together but sometimes I find myself fantasising about a Christmas for two.
LEMONADEMONEY Home Bargains do those trollies very reasonably and they don't look too old ladyish.
CHRISSY you're obviously an eager beaver, still as MRSMONEYPENNY says it's better to be early than miss it altogether.
MURIE the tree has arrived and the box is huge. I am beyond excited but daren't open it yet cos what with the pressies and the Santa Paws stuff we can barely move already!
NIC hope today hasn't been too awful for you. First anniversaries are the worst. Sending you hugs. DD has bought a baby elf as DGD's elf, Rosie, will be returning with a bubby this year. Unfortunately DD can't bear the thought of Rosie having had a baby so I think she's going with her being Rosie's niece lol.
GTQ hope you've had some success with evicting your uninvited guest!
I still haven't seen the Sainsbury's Christmas ad but I love the JL one and the Waitrose one, oh and Kevin the Carrot of course. Don't like the M&S one at all. I've found the Coke one a Damp squib the past few years so hoping they might have upped their game this year.
Well the big news here (other than the arrival of my splendid tree) is that I had my last chemo today, yay! Keeping everything crossed it's done the trick but at least I'll be chemo free for the run up to Christmas. Bring it on.It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Peppa that is the best news of the day.You have had an epic year. You never know whats around the corner.I hope you have a particularly splendid Christmas this year.I need to see this monster tree in all its glory, pics please.
OMG I have pulled a spectacular stunt tonight.Put a chicken in the oven to cook at 3:30,just remembered it at 9:30 !!!!!!!!!! It's done. Not burned but disintegrated.Tastes ok.
My friend has broken her ankle and her leg in 2 places. One a vertical break. They will decide tomorrow whether to operate or not.She just slipped getting something out of the car.yikes.
Nic I think your sister will be knackered but with you all there together for her little ones first Christmas you will all be just fine.
GTQ any mouse news?
Chrissy where is the meercat experience?
Now all you folks with young children/grandchildren I need your help.I cannot find a suitable Christmas book to read aloud on our local radio.Any recommendations ? It can not be reliant on pictures and not massively long.I will have about 4 mins but you can read a younger childrens book in that time. The ones in the local bookshop are just not read aloud type of books or more winter than Christmas.I hope you can help.

Peppa- yay to your chemo. Fingers crossed for you going forward. X
Vulpix- we have many, many lovely Christmas stories. I work my way through all of them in December lol. But the one that has been all therss favourite is called Chrsitmas wishes. It's little mice and follows the poem 'twas the night before christmas'. The kids love it as it's set on Christmas Eve and cute and funny with the mice. If you want I cansend you the ISBM number to have a look.
We also have a grumpy badger one that has a lovely outcome. They are all in the wee ones room, so I'll have a look in the pile to jog my memory. I always save 'Christmas wishes' til Christmas Eve, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. X
Today wasn't too bad as I was working then out to dance classes with the girls. So no time to think. I did manage to get a lovely little plant for the cemetery. It's from Morrisons and the pot had a wee ceramic robin on it. So will be nice for the winter.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Peppa!!!! Chemo free Christmas is great! Fingers crossed it will be chemo free for good!
Vulpix, just call it pulled chicken! haha! I hope your friend is ok. That sounds nasty. I have a 5 year old son and I've been recommended Tom Fletcher's Christmasaurus. Actually that might be in the delivery that came today... Yeah, no it is too big. BUT! He did do the dinosaur that pooped Christmas. We haven't read it, but the dinosaur that pooped the planet and the dinosaur that pooped the past were huge hits in our house. They're fun, fast paced and rhyme, which is always enjoyable to kids. The jolly postman at Christmas went down well with us, but that may be due to the fiddle bits rather than the story. There's also mouseton Abby (i show no shame it is gloriously nuts!) They lose the Christmas cheese and have to search for it and... I can't quite remember the rest. It's generally a bit mental. We got it from the book people a few years back.
I am now concerned what type of books you think I inflict on my son!
Oh, and after the "blah birthday I don't do anything" thing, my mum randomly called and asked if I'd like to go see a show in London for my 30th!!!!! And maybe stay over!!!! And my dad would babysit the boy!!!! (I will have to attach care instructions as he does some pretty daft things.) It was followed by "obviously not on your birthday, but for your birthday." Ahahahaha. Still absolutely amazing. I think it was my asking for a washing basket for Christmas that made her think of something I'd love so much...
Oh, and lemonade, mum's got one of those trolleys, it's ace, purple with white spots and we get loads of stuff in it!0 -

I didn't think of the phone! She skulked off at about 3pm (we don't finish until 6!) without a word. I may be visually impaired but the sight i have left is pretty good, I'm sure I could hit her!
And congrats with the chemo, i went through it with my mum a long time ago (she's fine now, and has been for 7 years). it is a day to remember. Fingers crossed for remission.0 -

Peppa, yaa-aa-aay you did good girl!!!!!!!!
Dom, the poor woman, instead of throwing something, torture her, play Christmas music, jingle some bells, have a mini tree on your desk, wrap your desk in Christmas paper, and when she says she doesn't like Christmas say how much you pity her for having such a miserable outlook, and ask why she doesn't volunteer her time for shelter or something over the Christmas period! (love your enemies, it will drive them mad!) I bet she doesn't work Christmas day.
Cranking up the wedding preparation today, getting well excited.
ooops is that the time, school run need to get my spiked shoes out!0
