Happe belated birthday Peppa. I didn't get a chance to get on yesterday. X

Well done on all the stocking makes. Again I failed at having a go. But I love seeing all your different ideas.

That's the Christmas cd in the car. All my DD's doing. The frosty morning and xmas songs will make a nice drive to school and work.

    Have a good day x

  • Belated happy birthday Peppa, hope it was a good day,

Well done to those who are crafty, your creations are amazing.

Got some good news and devastating news. Good news is that my hearing has suddenly returned to more or less normal, still some loss with tinnitus, so will continue with mri etc, to establish what was the cause and if it is likely to recur.

Devastating. I'm from a small rural area in west of Ireland, everyone knows everyone. Yesterday afternoon a couple were found dead, gardai say they have assault injuries, their son was found with serious head injuries and has been transferred to one of the major hospitals in Dublin, believe me no one is transferred that far unless absolutely necessary. Being a small area, it is going to be rife with speculation. I dealt with the families of murder victims for years, but as London is obviously so much bigger, it is less "personal", this news from home is really difficult to absorb.

    Thanks NIC and GTQ.

GTQ that's terrible, you just don't expect these things in very rural areas do you? I think it's much more personal in a small community and leaves you feeling very unsafe. I do hope the Garda solve it quickly and that their son makes a full recovery. Before we moved here we lived in a seaside town with a high level of pubs, day trippers, clubs and transient populations. There were very few problems years ago but in the last ten years things seem to have got worse and at the moment they're having a speight of stabbings - I'm so glad we moved away although I do miss the sea and our bigger house. On a happier note, glad your hearing has improved on its own. I have tinnitus too but I can usually shut it out. Mine is a high pitched white noise.

DomRavioli - Thanks, it was a little crazy and at one point I thought 'what have we done?'. The cats weren't happy at all and cried for two nights solid but we are all happy and settled now. Hope all goes well at docs.

    - That's lovely regarding DD. Glad it was a rewarding experience.

04624181 - Glad the health check went super. Move was crazy as I mention above but we are all good now thanks xx

Free - Hi, I daren't buy any magazines. With the current lack of storage I'm been super brutal. I have very little room for anything. Need to be creative. I love those Christmas magazines though.

Gettingtherequickly - Pleased to hear your hearing has improved :) How awful regarding the family. I'm so sorry for your community's loss.

GTQ- brilliant news on getting your hearing back- I too suffer from tinnitus which can be deafening at times but gives me a good excuse to phase the family out and pretend I haven't heard them! That is awful news, any crime in a small community is devastating to everyone, as Peppa says it feels so much more personal and can lead to real insecurity for those more vulnerable as there are always going to be questions as to if it was perpetrated by people in their midst. Hopefully the son will survive recover and cope with his awful loss.

Dom Ravioli- fingers crossed for speedy diagnosis and treatment x

Cherry- glad the move went Ok.

Chrissy- DD is coming on so well, you should really proud of her x

04624181- that's an impressive weight loss, it will give you a lovely boost to keep on the diet x As far as the card swop is concerned, would it work best done like the football fixtures when names are put into a hat and drawn out and matched with the next one out? You would need a definitive list of who wants to take part well in advance though as it wouldn't be fair if someone dropped out cus that would mean someone else would not get a card. (if that makes sense?)

When I saw that reindeer is the theme this month I was chuffed cus I have been wanting to have a go at a craft for a while and it involves reindeer so PEPPA- I have just completed my challenge for this month!!!! Its just drying out now so will wait to see how it turns out but so far it looks OK.Lets see if we can 'rein' in our physic crafting shall we 'deer'??? (Sorry couldn't resist that!). Two birds with one stone, something I had been planning to have a go at and something for the challenge!!

I forgot to say the other day I was in HB and saw a cylinder full of 'snowballs' for an indoor snowball fight £3.99. There looked to be at least 20 in there. I think they are polystyrene balls about 3" in diameter with a slightly sparkly flocked covering. Ideal for those doing indoor snowball fights as part of their elf activities.

  • Hi All,

GTQ, that's really shocking news, I can imagine its rocked the community!

The stocking crafts are all lovely! I particularly like the stocking made of baby clothes, it looks great and is a lovely memento. I didn't join in on that one, I couldn't think of anything I wanted to do and then I forgot about it totally! But I'll try to think up something for the reindeer challenge.

I'm feeling quite festive at the moment, my lunchtime read is currently A Christmas Carol and I'm really enjoying it. And I've bought a few Christmas bits and stashed them away, including an advent calendar for my step son and a bottle of cheap red wine for mulling. I always get the wine early because the cheap stuff disappears from the shelves closer to the day.

But I can't really start on my present shopping just yet, I'm waiting for people to start letting me know what they want. And I'm intentionally leaving my stepson to the last minute because he's 11 and just started secondary school and is changing so fast, I don't want to buy early and have him change his mind about what's cool. So for now I'm just stashing the cash in my savings account.

    .

Tiny little portions! I made some for my class, had actually made the portions quite small, but some did say that they didn't expect the sudden sugar hit:rotfl:
