Morning all
Hope everyone is well or as well as can be and all enjoyed their new year celebrations. We had family round for the day, main meal at lunch then mil wanted to go home so after that we listened to ds1 play his guitar and sing for a while then watched strongman and Sherlock followed by snacks and board games. Really enjoyable day. The lads are still sleeping so we're watching a DVD that Dh got for Christmas. Days boot, a bit of an epic so I've got my crochet to hand.
Have a good day all.SPC~12 ot 124

Happy New Year Everyone I hope your dreams and wishes come true in 2016 x
lol I have been 'hired out' through work to the business downstairs before to get everything organized. It is a real passion of mine! In the US they actually have companies that come to your house and organize it all or a particular room! They have whole shops dedicated to organization items! I think I live in the wrong countryHappy New Year to everyone. Myself and the OH just had a chilled night on the sofa with some buffet bits and some bubbles which is quite a novelty as he's worked quite a few of the previous ones so it was nice to actually see him at New Year.
Had a nice lie in this morning then have taken down all the decorations (I like to leave them up for NYE), put them away, rearranged the lounge and got all our clothes ready for our holiday next week so I don't go back to work for another 12 days :rotfl: Will be flying off just as my colleagues go back to work haha!
Just going to enjoy the next couple of days not having to watch the clock etc and plop in front of the tv to watch Sherlock tonight.
Ooo thank you, I had no idea there was a new Sherlock! Will definitely have to watch on playerEnjoy your holiday!

Feisty - pantry looks fab, do you do home visits, and could you extend your organisational skills to a playroom please? ;-)
Very early start for me. We went to bed far too early last night and dh woke up at 3am and decided it was a good idea to switch the lamp on and read. Hence we have now been sat downstairs for the last 2 hours.
We decided to host a small NYE party, just for people on the close that dh has got to know since we moved here (he is the sociable one, myself and dd1(15) were absolutely dreading the party, and the idea of "strangers" - but it was a huge success! The 4 couples/families invited all turned up, everyone got on really well.
Dd1 has made friends with the girl next door who we thought was much younger, but is actually only 15 months younger than her! And dd2 had a blast with the younger sibling, who is the same age (8).
They are all at different schools, but have already got the whole of 2016 holidays planned out together!
And I actually managed to relax, enjoy myself, and speak to people! Dh was very proud of me (I'm really not usually good in social situations). We felt quite honoured that it was almost 3am before the last guests left - we are obviously quite good fun to be with lol.
We have decided to make it our thing, an annual NYE party! Bad news is, it has given me another reason/excuse to spend - I have decided we need entertainment for our next party - so will be putting together a family games night hamper for xmas. If anyone can recommend games suitable for ages 8-60 ish it would be a huge help. So far in my amaz@n wishlist are exploding kittens, pandemic (more for just us to play) and rapidough.
Well done for excelling in the social situation! I can imagine how hard that would have been, I'm fine with people I know well but somehow manage to come across as stuck up to strangers as I'm painfully shy.
As for the entertainment idea, does either your DH or DD have a games console? You can pick up some really cheap group games like Buzz, singstar or dance mats for a few pounds at summer car boot sales and they always seem to go down really well at partiesYou'd be surprised how keen everyone is to jump in after a few shandy's
I read about an amazing money challenge yesterday that seems pretty simple. You save 1p on 1st Jan, 2p on 2nd Jan, 3p on 3rd Jan etc and by the end of the year you will have earned £667.95 over the year and the most you'd have to put in would be £3.65 a day! Plus it doesn't reach over the £1 a day limit until the 2nd week of AprilI blogged about it if you wanted a read and a link to the printable template;
http://thriftybutglam.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/save-66795-in-year-1p-at-time.html
I've got my jar already filled with over £4 (it's a leap year so needed to start with £3.66 to use the template) DH is under very strict instructions not to touch any of the money, not even for car parking :rotfl:Fingers crossed it will pay for Christmas and give us a bit of a boost for next year!

Pinknfluffy I had a chance to play Logo over the holidays and it sounds like a board game that could fit your criteria.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Feisty, just been on your blog and printed off the label for my savings tin. Thank you for suggesting that and having the download link to print it on your lovely blog. Dd3 mentioned it yesterday but your explanation of it is really clear.
Pinknfluffy, scattergories is a really good game that you can play individually or in teams, you roll a bit alphabet dice to pick the letter and then set the timer then have to find a word starting with the letter for each of the 10 items you are given. If you answer is the same as someone else's neither of you get a point, and if you can give a two word answer with the letter you get double points for example in the tv programmes starting with b you picked block busters that would be two points where bullseye would be one point.SPC~12 ot 124

Well our decs are down. I love them but the place looks so much neater once they're down. My poor tree has taken a hammering from the monkey and his toys this year so the bottom just looked a mess. Time to start the big clear out now. Far too many toys have entered the house this Christmas. I can't get in the dining room for toot toot tracks!!
Feisty your pantry has inspired me. That and the room of doom upstairs are going to be my January projects. OHs projects will be the garage and boarding out the loft, he just doesn't know it yet.
Better get on, happy new year all xxx0 -

Your NYE party sounds great Pinknfluffy well done on the social aspect. I'm very like you, I hate the thought of socialising or meeting new people. But usually end up having a great time by the end. Karaoke is a favourite. I prefer trivial pursuits lol, but most friends I know prefer to get the karaoke machine out.
I've just taken all the decs and tree down. It took me all morning/afternoon! I was sad to see it go, but feel better after a good Hoover and dust. I have my fake candles lit and a few higher up. What I will miss is my wee tree at the front door. I had nice coloured lights on it. It cheered me up going to the loo and seeing it or coming home lol.
Planning another family games night tonight. Going to play Trivial pursuit family edition, charades and rock band for something different. My wee boy hasn't played it before and we got the whole set up, including drums and 2 guitars for £10 in a charity shop before Christmas. X:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Just went and got some christmas DVD's. I got rid of SKY, so don't have easy access to the Christmas films I'm used to or have SkY plussed. Thought id try the Megashopbot and it worked. I got Elf for £4 odd, Polar express and my own copy of White Christmas. I kept trying to find them really cheap, but didn't want 2nd hand as they are often scratched. That's me sorted for next year.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0
