Chrissy- at least something positive came out of the boredom! My DH would like to see Cirque du Soleil too.

I have wondered about those 3 too, especially Jess (and Feisty and Baby Boo)

I've been wondering about JJ too and Feisty and BabyBoo. Hope it's a case of no news is good news.

MONEYMISSION you gave amazing self control, I'm ripping the tops off parcels before I've got them from the door to the front room :D

MURIE if your cake carries on this way your lot are going to be pie eyed for the holidays lol.

VULPIX your ladies obviously have no imagination, I bet your jingle bells idea will be great. I'm still debating mine but think I know where I'm going with it. Just hope I get it done in time.

TREASUREQUEEN the gold hamper sounds lovely - I wouldn't have thought of honeycomb, that's a great idea (one of DH's favourites).

Finishing off the back room today so should be in less of a mess tonight.

Over the past few years I've been buying silver charms for DGD and honorary DGD at Christmas and birthdays and they e had them with little notes explaining why I chose them. I think it's time to call it a day now though so DDs have given them back to me with the bracelets so I can get them all soldered on. There are 12 charms on each so that's 24 charms I have to get soldered which is probably going to cost me a bomb. I'm not sure I really thought it through! I'll put them on in the right place and order and then try to find a reasonably priced local jeweller to solder them.

Having an overhaul of the finances too now that I'm not working and not always functioning on all cylinders. Have made an appointment at the bank on Thursday so will get everything rejigged and sorted out which will be one less thing to worry about.

Hello you caring, wonderful lot, I am here :j

Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers and positive thoughts, they really are appreciated :)

Well, it has taken weeks BUT this week I finally feel we are back to some sense of normality  Poor DH came home the day after my post after being told he had pneumonia again! He was worryingly bad for weeks and is still refusing to go back in for a chest xray to check it's all cleared as he feels they made him so much worse last time he was admitted  He has to have the operation again in 4-6 months and he is gutted that it will be either when we celebrate little My's first Christmas or her first birthday :(

This adorable little monster celebrated her half birthday the Saturday DH came out of hospital and we even threw her a little party lol

It's going so quickly now! I need to know everyones special Christmas traditions that they do/did with their little ones as this year we will be starting! :D

I've had to make a difficult decision regarding the end of my maternity leave next month. We cutting my hours working outside of the home right back as DH can't cope with the baby, baby refuses a bottle and is fed by me and I don't want to miss a single moment with poorly DH and our little miracle. It's going to be very tough and belts will be so tight they may be corseted, but I feel it is the right decision.

I'm sorry I've not read back but there were 13 odd pages since my last post  Not long now!

Yay Feisty- glad to see you back!
No wonder your poor DH is fed up with everything he has gone though x. Little miss looks a real beauty- I love that achievements board, its a fantastic idea. As far as managing money wise- you will manage cus it means so much to you all. as you say, the most important thing is time as a family.

Peppa- Im thinking by pass the cake ingredients and just eat/drink the fruit and have a very 'merry' August! Sounds like you have an expensive time ahead with all those charms needing soldering! Have you looked at soldering them yourself by getting the stuff individually? I have no idea if it would be cost effective or not (or how you would do it!) but it might be worth some research on the subject if its very expensive to get them done. Its a good idea to get finances sorted as that kind of worry can spiral out of control ( does for me anyway)x.
I have been on the go all day and can honestly say I am more than ready for my bed!
Hope everyone is OK and has enjoyed the lovely weather x

Welcome home FEISTY, glad you and gorgeous mini Feisty are ok and hope DH soon feels stronger and able to face the op again. You'll manage the reduction in your finances somehow, having time with your two most precious people is worth the sacrifices. I'm sure with your crafty background you'll be able to come up with low cost pressies that everyone will love.

MURIE going straight to the fruit sounds like a great plan :D Sleep well, sweet dreams.

  • Hi Feisty, good to see you. She's a real cutie. I love the 'being nakie' comment, I still say that to our youngest when she strips off. It seems the love of 'being nakie' sometimes lasts beyond the baby/toddler years :rotfl:

    Some traditions we have,

New PJ's on Christmas Eve. Also a few other small presents to open on Christmas Eve, usually a book & cuddly toy. Santa sneaks into our bedrooms while the girls are having their baths/showers and leaves their Christmas Eve presents on the beds. All these years and I've never even seen him, he is very sneaky & clever to never get caught out in our hallway or one of the bedrooms :)

Watch a Christmas movie on Christmas Eve (when I was younger we would always watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, but now we just choose whichever one we fancy watching. Last year it was Arthur Christmas, if you haven't seen it you must watch it :))

The obvious one - milk, cookies & carrot left out.

Christmas stocking left in bedrooms so Santa can fill it overnight. Stockings are brought into our room on Christmas morning to open, before going downstairs to see if Santa has left anything else.

A silly tradition from when I was young is, when going down the stairs on Christmas morning it has to be Dad, Mum, then kids from oldest to youngest. Kids then stand in front of living room door & Dad opens it to see the magic.

We also get our girls a Build a Bear cuddly every year. It's much easier now you can buy them online, when they were only sold in store we would queue for AGES to get them made & then have to pick an outfit and queue to pay!

That's just a few I have thought of at the moment. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something so might be back, but I think a lot of them are traditions that most people have anyway, so I'm sure you'll have some good ones to choose from.

Fiesty, nice to hear from you.Lovely photo of a gorgeous girl.Extremely neat chalking btw.Respect.What is nakie?no clothes?

I think it is the right decision to be with your family.you cut your cloth no matter how much money you have.Miss Fiesty wont remember being hard up.When my kids were young I was incredibly hard up and all our stuff came from charity shops and car boot sales (mine too). They were always beautifully turned out and remember their childhood with great fondness.Lots of walks, digging in the garden, bikes and picnics and stuff.

I think my Christmas traditions were just the same as as from my childhood.Mince pie and carrot, stocking on the bed which was opened on my bed and presents under the tree.Oh we always had bacon butties and hot tea for breakfast.

New traditions I will start if I have grandchildren is advent Christmas stories.A new book every night at bed time.Only 24 to find! I'm not sure if elf on a shelf would be my thing,I think it would get a bit like hard work.I like the new Christmas pj's on Christmas Eve idea.

    Gotta go,plasterer is here.

    Vx

I am so bad ! my OH works nights so every time anything is put through the letterbox the dog barks. I have told a particular takeaway not to post menus. Well today yet again i saw them coming down the path so i let the dog out who went towards him like a bat out of hell growling. The guy dropped his bag and ran faster than bolt ! screaming like a little girl .It was so funny.
Had he just stood there the dog would have been on his back wanting a belly rub . He is all mouth with not a viscious bone to back it up , obviously thats not what the guy saw which to be honest was my intention.

Hopefully there wont be any more menus.
