Evening everyone, i really cant stop having nana naps in this heat it is sapping all energy from me!! DS came home today with a little treat for me, a YC votive and a bar of chocolate, and tomorrow we are finally doing one of his presents to me from christmas
where i was so ill i still have 4 days out from all the kids still to do. Anyway tomorrows is lunch on a Double Decker Bus, it isnt far away prob about half an hour, it will be something crossed off my 50s list at least. I think we may go early as the heat will be stifling on there, as its supposed to be 27 degrees tomorrow
NEWTHRIFT wow that is organised too, it will be nice to know that they are done. Glad you had a nice day yesterday. My sleep is erratic atm with this heat too!
MRSINVISIBLE wow i dont know how you stay so sane, you are always sorting things out for other people, what a lovely person you are!!! I hope you can help your coz, she must be worried sick and just want to get DH home, i do hope the insurance arent trying to wriggle out of paying
04624181 i have never heard of those jelly beans before, especially with a game as well, they look great fun!

Morning all, we are up early, picnic packed all ready for a day at the beach. Hubby has decided to just "nip" and see a car he has seen before we go. So im sat having a brew and a catch up on here before we go. Have reserved some bits at argos that i need to pick up. Daughters design a friend stash is building up nicely. I think I am going to get her an amazon kindle fire for christmas too. Would like to get my mum one also so will start putting money away and get it when they go down to £40 again.
Free- The game is so funny, some of the flavours are disgusting, dog food, skunk, vomit.rotten egg. But the other flavours are lovely. You just have no idea which they are going to be when you put them in your mouth as they have no smell at all. Can see us having so much fun with that on christmas day. May even get the actual game for my dads house as we always go for christmas day breakfast x Checked halfcost website and it said the house planters are in stock again so i have tried to order them as its free p&p on spends over £5.
Hope everybody is ok and enjoying the weather xx0 -
l really feel for all of you who cant sleep for the heat/mugginess it is horrible. lt hasn't affected us much as we have had rain rain and thunderstorms with rain!!!
But l still have the nana-naps too, then l feel guilty, and try to stay awake.
DD is getting a brace for her other ankle, lovely orthotist has sourced what looks in the picture to be ideal.
DS2 needs an op, just a minor one, but under GA so needs specialist anaesthetist because of the dystrophy. This means probably a longer wait, can't be helped, safer this way.
Fave coz phoned, she had had a meltdown on the ward, nice nurse got her a 'translator' (one of nice nurses friends who speaks very good English) with the result that her DH got discharged. Her brother is going to them this weekend to drive the campervan back, so that lets me off the hook for that. Booked on a ferry Monday morning. The insurers are still being difficult , yes l think they are trying to wriggle out of paying. Thank goodness for the E111 card eh?
Spent just over an hour on phone to Child tax credit speaking to an adviser who was so helpful, (Amy, if you are reading this) she sussed out that there were 2 problems, not one, did a lot of digging in the files, put us on hold, sorted it out, filled the forms in over the phone arranged to ring us on Monday to check that it had gone through, and wished us a nice day.
Crisis over, now just chaos.
DS2's birthday today, so we may go out for dinner, but for now, l need coffee. xx0 -
Great news on all fronts MRSINVISIBLE, you are def a force of nature!
0462 my DD got the jelly bean thing for DGD for her birthday in May. They loved it but def couldn't persuade me to try, if I'd have got the smelly feet one or the vomit one I think that may have been exactly what I would have done! Hope you have a fab day at the beach. I am loving this weather.
FREE if you need a nanna nap then have a nanna nap, listen to your body and you won't go far wrong. Your treat today sounds lovely, hope you really enjoy it and aren't too hot. Your DS has such good ideas.
Well we saw the littlies yesterday as we stayed with littlest DGS (2) while DD1 took eldest (4) and DGD (7) who is staying with her til today, to see the BFG. Was so sweet when they came back and were both trying to tell me about it at the same time. DGD has the book but DGS didn't know much about it before he went and although he liked it he can't get the hang of big friendly giant and calls him the big bad giant! Will be seeing them again this afternoon and taking my mum with us as DD2 is coming to DD1's to collect DGD. Sounds more complex than it is lol.
Have finished the second vintage cabinet, the smaller one so will put the pics on Instagram. Still don't really know what I'm doing. Did see some comments yesterday but got confused scrolling through ha ha. I'm a bit of a thickie when things look different but I'll get the hang of it eventually. Not sure DD will be able to fit it in now as didn't realise there are pipes on the wall where it was goi g to go. Fortunately I think I've found somewhere I could put it so it won't go to waste. Just some horribly varnished shelves to upcycling now and some sewing. Once she's done the second coat pif paint on the wall I can put the tiles round the worktop but it might take some time now both the boys are at home. Little boys and decorating are not the best combination!
Have a fabulous day everyone!!!It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hi all
MoneyMission 2015, I'm sorry that you couldn't find the advents. I just typed in Yankee Candle advents and up they pop. I'm pleased you managed to get what you wanted on the Yankee site though.:)
FeistyFidget- massive hugs and positive thoughts coming your way
FreeSpirit, Newthrift. I also liked the cutter but have seen an idea on another forum. If you have an old cut glass or crystal one with a pattern on the bottom, you can imprint it onto pastry lids for your mince pies or shortbread biscuits. Because of the way they are cut, it looks like snowflakes.
Newthrift. My amazon basket is always full. I save everything in it throughout the month then review it carefully, move items to the for later option if I'm still not sure. I only buy once a month on pay week. This way it seems to control the impulse buys.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Peppapig. We had a static for a few years but it is really costly The site fees vary from place to place as does facilities. Its really important to visit a few to see what suits you. You also need to factor in the costs of insurance and gas and electric servicing. The caravan needs to be drained down for the winter to avoid bursts so you may need help with this. You could probably kit it out with surplus things you have at home and a few trips to B+M, Wilkos etc. After saying all that we absolutely adored ours.:D:D
Freespirit. Pleeased to see you are cracking on with your 50 list. Sounds like a great day out :j:j:j
04624181 I've added the beans to my groaning basket on Amazon. Thought it could be fun for a game on Boxing Day at the family party. We have games we play each year but I'm always on the look out for a new one to add a bit of a surprise.:D
Well, the heat has got to me. I have had to raid my holiday clothes to use at work. The girls were all amazed to see me wearing colours. I always wear a “uniform” of black tailored trousers with a long black cardigan. I have 5 tops for the 5 days and most of these are black and white so turning up in a pint patterned dress was a big shock to all. I certainly didn't feel like I should be working. Its funny how your clothes can make you feel a certain way.
Well, catch up soon
xxxxStart by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
Loving de-cluttering0 -
Evening all! Thankfully a bit cooler today.
Just had a quick check in, hugs for all who need it, difficult to be dealing with things on top of this hot weather.
Went for a pedicure today so that the trotters look reasonable for my holiday. Was sitting there being massaged & having the foot treatment, which is very difficult when you are ticklish, & suddenly realised that the girl beside was getting much better value for money, mine were started after her & I was finished long before her, then looked and realised her feet were a lot bigger than mine, so of course it was going to take longer
Thanks for all the good vibes for DB, he starts the job on 1st August, he is over the moon.
Got a busy few days ahead, so I can have as much done as possible before I go, need to plan, but want to be able to get to airport completely chilled.
Hugs to you all.A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Evening everyone, it was a lovely morning this morning at the bus cafe, i had a Bacon in Brioche Bun and then DS went and got us a slice of chocolate cake each and kept saying well it is christmas (seen as it was part of my christmas present :rotfl:) people must have thought we were mad
Here is a couple of piccies:
BTW i totally forgot and missed qvc christmas in july :rotfl:doh!!!
04624181 i hope you had a lovely picnic at the beach today, i will put those beans on my wishlist they sound like HP Bertie Botts Beans ??? Great fun we would enjoy that. Good luck with the planters
MRSINVISIBLE so glad your fave coz has got her DH out of the hospital and help is at hand. Also glad you finally got hold of someone who does their job properly and has sorted the whole tax credit fiasco out, that must be a weight off your mind.
PEPPAPIG i know he does really think and put an effort into presents for us all, my next one off of him is afternoon tea at a hotel in Winchester, I have my Feathers and Fur:D on Thursday from DD1 and still have my Clay Pigeon shooting from DD2 to do as well. I cant wait to see the pics of your second cabinet you are so talented at renovating old furniture it always looks beautiful, your DD is a very lucky girl. Glad you got to see the littlies, that made me laugh you saying about both the GC trying to tell you about it at the same time, my twins used to do that a LOT!!
NITNURSE ah i know what sort of glasses you mean, my mum used to have them, what a brilliant idea. My DD1 did the exact same thing this week, raided her holiday clothes put away for Jordan to wear to work because it was so darn hot in the office
GETTINGTHEREQUICKLY that is fab news about your brother getting the job, i hope he enjoys it. If you dont get on again (i assume you are going this week?) have a fab time away spending time with your family

Free you haven't - the 25th is tomorrow so you've not missed anything! TV guide is here if you want to see what's on.0 -
Thanks for the link LAZYSHEEP, I was looking for the outline for tomorrow earlier and couldn't find it. Must admit I'm going off QVC a bit after a disappointing customer service experience which is unusual for them.
FREESPIRIT I'm glad you enjoyed your bus experience, it all looks very nice. Def with DS on the chocolate cake! Your other experiences sound fab, you've got some lovely things to look forward to. I bought DH a clay pigeon shooting session a few years ago and he really enjoyed it, as did I!
GTQ I could really enjoy a pedicure although it's not the same when you have to do it yourself!
NITNURSE I know what you mean about the expense of a static caravan, it's what's holding me back I think because DH doesn't think we'd use it enough to justify the cost given we'd have to fund the petrol to get there as well and I've got a feeling he's right. The fees, insurance etc on the small family run site I went to see are in the region of £1800 to £2000 a year which is quite good compared to some but not if we don't use it regularly. Hadn't realised about draining down so will ask about maintenance etc when we go next week. I really want one though so maybe it's about thinking of other localities. I'm not giving up yet lol. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Morning all, Hope everybody is ok. Hubby bought the car, we are now owners of a citreon piccasso 2 litre diesel. Its a manual....we did have an automatic ( easier for my back/leg) but hubby has said it was just about us having a reliable car for 6-12 months whilst we do the loft extension and rest of the house. Once all that is finished we can look at changing it if we want to. Didnt get to the beach on saturday as by the time we had sorted the car out it was past lunch time so we went to the cinema, went on some games at the arcade then we had a games night. Lots of laughs were had. Picked up a suitcase/Travel set and a wardrobe for the design a friend doll yesterday. They were both half price. DD would like Mr Frosty which I am totally thrilled with as I always wanted one when I was a girl but never got one- mum thought they were too messy!! So you know I ma going to get her one and have hours of fun with her with it! x She loves shopping too so going to get her a Primark voucher and a H&M voucher as they are her favourite shops.
Mrs invisible- Good to hear your fave cousin is finally on her way home. It must of been so awful for her to have to cope with all of that aswell as her hubby being ill. Sounds like you managed to get hold of a good person at tax credits.
peppapig- It was alot of fun but some of the smells/tastes were very realistic. Glad you got to see the littlies, how cute that they were both excited to tell you about the film x I do not have experience of owning a caravan but a family member did. We rented it from them a few times and the kids absolutely loved it!! They only used to rent it out to family and out of the 3 holidays we spent there we never turned the tv on once. They used to make a small charge to cover the site fees and charges but we were always happy to pay it. Is this something you could possibly do to help offset the costs?
nitnurse-not2- thats a fabulous tip re the snowflake imprint thanks x Im sure you will have lots of fun with the Beanboozled. It has been so hot and muggy lately.
GTQ- LOL i was laughing when you said about the girl with the bigger feet taking longer. have a lovely holiday xx So glad DB got the job, great news.
Free- WOW the pictures look amazing! sounds like you had a lovely time x Its so lovely to hear that you are having a lovely time and you have got some more great days out to come too.
Fiesty- Hope you are all doing ok, prayers being sent up x0
