Hi,
Hmm Camp Christmas, flamingoes and Hawian spring to mind .No idea why.I don't know if there might be any ideas on the Elfilicious pinterest board.
Tax Credits.Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh.When I was a single person they were very much appreciated.Although the forms used to fill me with dread. When I got married it turned into a nightmare because it's done retrospectively. We somehow owed them £500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We paid it off and have never applied again, its just too complicated for my brain to cope with.Hope its sorted soon.A pain but worth it.
Lovely flowers Free.Very pretty colours.Well done to you for that and going to the crem and avoiding drama.xx
Mr V phoned the Gp yesterday from work. They gave him a phone app with a Dr and a real app followed and he was then sent back down to the hospital for more tests and a scan.More warfrin and a return to the hospital next week.Hats off to GPs they have a new receptionist and it makes such a difference.
They are putting the finishing touches to the wall as we speak.I will say if these guys worked for my builder they wouldn't last a morning. They sit in the van a lot.
I have had a similar problem with tiny dressings,my district nurse gave me some even though I wasn't her patient.
Today the weather forecast is not too bad so am off shopping when Mr V comes home then he wants to watch the footie and I want to get in the garden.Last year when I made the front garden I just shoved plants anywhere but now I am moving them about to better effect.Must say I am so slow and I wouldn't last 10 mins working for my builder!Cannot wait for these guys to finish so I can get on with the back garden.
I am thinking that we will have a smaller Christmas this year.DS in Canada and DD1 will be living with her boyfriend. Now might be the time to spend less money on them.I suspect I will have to do Christmas lunch for my brothers family as they had us last year as we had no kitchen.Got my head full of garden at the moment, need to ponder on that. Tax credits take £100 a week off for each week your on maternity leave. I basically earn nothing when I was on it as I only got £90 per week so I just earn nothing whilst on maternity leave where tax credits was earnt... Always worth ringing to check :-)
Nothing much Christmas's happening here... Keep picking bits up if I see them... Wanting to start wrapping it all soon boxed up n in the loft out the way til December! Need to get the excuse straight ready for baby arriving in November!
Hope everyone is well! Hugs to those that need it. Always read but dint have much chance to post! Have oldest at school youngest at home and also have baby niece twice a week so super busy!0 -
Oh my goodness, I haven't been on this thread for a day or two and there's 3 new pages!! Everybody is on a serious chatter at the moment :rotfl:
Free - that wreath is beautiful, you are so clever! It really is gorgeous.
I'm going to read through the 3 pages that I have missed and chat later.0 -
Peppa- ooh look at you multitasking- chemo and posting on the thread xx Glad you had a lovely time at CK store, online sales are brilliant but you cant beat a good mooch in a shop and finding bargains for the feel good factor.
Free- very professional looking flowers, those gift cards were a bargain.
Pinksteps- so pleased that you are more on an even keel after recent events. Your idea for a 1950's Christmas is lovely- can I be nosey and ask why you chose that theme? You are so right, there are certain lovely ladies on here who manage to keep everyone going when things are tough (you know who you are). I think its a massive deal to have been able to cope with what you have gone through without having to use ADs- you should be proud of yourself x
Chrissy- glad DD is doing well x
Vulpix- glad MrV has taken the plunge and got more advice/treatment. Hope you managed to get into the garden with all this rotten weather we have.
Linz- I want to start wrapping too but I know it'll get wrecked if I do.
Happy Birthday RuthHoney and Happy belated Birthday 042624181- hope you both had fab days!
MoneyMission- yup after weeks when its been really quiet on here it suddenly seems to have taken off these past few days.lovin' this site!

FEISTY I feel your pain. I've never claimed tax credits but DD does and they're always a nightmare! Hope they can get you sorted out quickly.
BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY 0462, late as usual because I never remember to check the list and tend to rely on others to post! Hope you had a fabulous day.
PINKSTEPS so glad things are moving forward for you and loving your 50s Christmas idea.
FREE hope today goes as well as it can for you. Your flowers will be lovely because you've put something of yourself into them. I must admit I tend to go for non-funeral funeral flowers, either a hand tied bouquet or something in a basket, because anything with a tag of wedding or funeral seems to cost a fortune.
Had a fabulous afternoon at the Cath Kidston shop yesterday and bought three things to put away for Christmas/birthdays while I was there. Having chemo at the mo, hurrah for hospitals having wi-fi
I'm glad you enjoy d the CK shopthank goodness for hospital wifi!
freespirit66 wrote: »Evening everyone, well today went well, i finished the wreath and went to the crematorium and had a few moments paying my respects, here is a pic:
I also got 4 christmas presents sorted out today, Costco were doing an offer of so much % off a pack of four £15 itunes gift cards, so that is all 4 nieces and nephews sorted and i virtually got one free it came to £46.99 so i used the £40 i had put away for christmas and just added the rest, i am well chuffed!
:bdaycake:HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTHHONEY :bdaycake:
FEISTY thankyou for the good luck wisheswell done on making little miss a shirt for fathers day i bet it looks fab! Its a long time since i had tax credits but if i remember rightly that is how they base everything on the previous year for the current year so you wont benefit from these low earnings until next year, but someone who currently claims them might correct me on that???
PINKSTEPS you have managed to get by without ADs because you are a strong lady my lovely!! I absolutely love the 50's christmas idea and will look out for any ideas/tips for you
PEPPAPIG yes it went well thankyou, i avoided all stress and just went and spent time on my own. Glad you had a fab time yesterday, did you treat yourself to something nice? Hope chemo went well today and you feel ok the next few days xx
Free those flowers are beautiful! I think you would have been looking at at least £75 for a similar arrangement around here and I think yours are more meaningful as they are handmade xxx
Thanks for all the advice on tax credits! Apparently I have to submit the forms based on last years earnings, which they will then reject, so then I have to phone them and tell them about our change in circumstances :rotfl: I have a fairly accurate estimate of this years earnings as I don't plan to return to work until January, but my MP ends the end of Septemberthank goodness for a small amount of savings that we managed to squirrel away to see us through 3 months and I'll be picking up some at home work then too as my cousin will the hand the businesses back over
I am still doing really well with the penny a day challenge and I'm hoping that if we are thrifty we can not only use this money to pay for all of Christmas, but also birthday presents next year! I'm also tempted to apply for the m&s credit card as there is a free £30 voucher off a first spend and that would be fab for food or a cheap gift.[/COLOR]2024 Challenges

Peppapig I do like Cath Kidston, and cannot seem to leave the shop empty handed! Fortunately for me though our local is an outlet shop so full of bargains but then I buy too much.
Murie I just love everything 1950s, it seems such an innocent era, although probably not and I like the romantic thought of it. My parents had wonderful photos from then, my mum making all her own clothes and furnishings. The whole style was far more classy in those years than nowadays, but that's my opinion only.
Vulpix lol, flamingo theme sounds so do-able, my sons will HAVE to humour me, see I even contradict myself as the above paragraph proves. Now where can I get a classy flamingo from .....
Freespirit66 those flowers are so personal to you, the love and thought gone into making the wreath and I expect you remembered back to some lovely thoughts of your aunt to keep her memory with you to help you through the day. x0 -
Feisty- that's sounds like a heck of a palaver to get tax credits! Well done with the penny a day challenge.
Pinksteps- the reason I asked is that my sis loves that period too- for much the same reason, she loves the gentility of the era. If you are after pink flamingos then home bargains have a pink flamingo wall lamp (with led bulbs light a dressing room light if you know what I mean- its the only way I can describe it lol). They are about 30cm tall battery operated and cost £4.99. I considered them for DDs Kate Spade themed birthday but decided not to in the end cus I didnt know what to do with them afterwards, but if you are going to use them for the whole Christmas period then they would be more economical than just using them for one day as I planned.lovin' this site!

O,o,o.I have seen the most adorable string of flamingo lights in The Range.I almost bought them, walked round the shop with them and then had a talk with myself and put them down.Think they were £8.I have put some flamingo pics on the pinterest board.
I am home alone today and fully intend to cut the hedge and move more plants about. It sounds like this garden is massive,it isn't.ha.
Was talking to DD1 last night and I may buy her and boyfriend an oak tv cabinet for Christmas. They pretty much have everything else as they both have a flat each now.

Hi all, I’ve been busy wiping snot (sorry!) off Wiggle’s nose, his face, his clothes, my clothes, the furniture etc etc! He’s having a nap now so thought I’d catch up with you lovelies, although we’re busy chatting again now so the pages are going quickly! I’ve done a little more updating to my Christmas s/s but haven’t actually bought anything. I came across some tins with ‘Grandads treats tin’ on the top so I’m thinking of buying one for my dad and my FiL from Wiggle and filling it with a few things they like.
_party_ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY 04624181 and Ruth Honey! _party_ I hope you are both well and had good birthdays.
freespirit oh you poor thing, I can only imagine how stressful it was having water coming in your house! We’ve had a couple of leaks in the last few years and it’s horrible. Your homemade wreath is lovely, I am glad you got it finished and managed to spend some time paying your respects. Well done on the itunes cards – bargain!
mrsinvisible oh don’t be embarrassed, most of the people I have encountered since having Wiggle have been really lovely, it’s just the odd one or two that make you feel like you’re being silly!
CHRISSYG I’m really glad to hear your DD’s op went well and I hope it really helps her.
Vulpix sorry to hear you’re still feeling strange after your flight, I don’t think we always realise the effects these things have on our bodies. I hope you feel normal again soon. Glad to hear your DH called the GP, self-diagnosing by Google can be scary!
Peppapig I’m forever Googling something about an actor or TV programme when we’re watching TV, I don’t know how we go this information before?! I didn’t know there was a Cath Kidston outlet shop in St Neots? We’re going there to see family in a couple of weeks so I feel a shopping trip coming on! I hope your chemo went well and that you are feeling ok.
Gettingtherequickly congrats on the £100 win! And your holiday sounds fab.
Fiesty glad you got back on track with the vinyl machine and it turned out well, bargain! I hope you have some luck with tax credits, I don’t get these things either!0 -
Hi All
Just a quick one to let you know that Tesco gift cards are offering 25% off gift cards for New Look, iTunes, Pizza Hut & Pizza Express.
There are certain terms which make it confusing, but basically your total balance can't exceed £100 (including postage) and you can only order up to £100 per day.
So I've just ordered £100 worth of New Look vouchers for £80 and tomorrow I will order £100 iTunes vouchers. Comes in handy for Christmas presents :j
