My Debt Busting Diary 2016

  • Morning all!

Jobs for yesterday all complete except for eBay. The boys jabs aren't due until mid May, which means I have until mid June to raise the funds. eBay sales are off the mark for the week with £4.99 bid, fingers crossed more follow suit.

Weigh in last night and another 2lb loss :j this would have taken me to 30lb / 31lb but I've moved the goal post and lowered my target as I feel I'm still not quite where I want to be. So new target means I'm 30lb / 37lb. The end is still in sight tho :)

Meal plan done for week, just need to pick some fruit up from Aldi later - I'm meeting a friend at lunch so will do this on the way back to save making a special journey.

Managed to get part of DS 1st birthday pressie yesterday. Managed to get £80 worth for £28 as the item was reduced and I'd got a very generous voucher code - feeling very pleased with myself as it'll be his main pressie.

Need to sort neds winter rugs out for cleaning. May drop his heavier one off today whilst I'm out as he shouldn't need it again until next winter. Will help to spread the cost rather than leave it all until last minute and get stung for £50ish in one go.

    Jobs for today.....
    1. Pay vet bill off cc
    2. Move ponies fencing
    3. Sort rugs to be cleaned
    4. Aldi shop
    5. Put clean washing away
    6. Clean kitchen

Well ours are well and truly in at the moment, the fields resemble swimming pools and it's raining non stop. I need to sort through rugs as I have a lot that don't fit any I own right now and I was just hanging on to them but I will try and sell. I'm guessing heavy stable won't sell well now though!
    Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)

    Loan 1 £1787
    Loan 2 £1683
    Total £8601 Was £39302

Don't want to rub it in but it's been 17 degrees here and the big man is having his first night out!!!! How bizarre!!!

Finally sat down after a manic but productive day. All jobs done except fence but will do that in the morning since I have one less stable to do. Had some butternut squash and sweet potatoes to use up, so made a couple of SW curries to freeze.

Oh it's just been rain rain cold rain here. The two mares are in full neck 450gms and the gelding is in a 200g, but he is/was fatter and I don't mind him having to work for it just now. Mine have lived out the last two winters but I don't think I can do it again, even with the shelter, those rugs, and permanent unlimited hay. They are all fed up beyond belief. Me too :(

Where is it 17 degrees and when can I move there???

    Deal!

SS you mentioned checking passports for vaccination date. Not sure if you have a smartphone but there is a free app called Stable Mate that allows you to track all that stuff. It's made by the people who sell Equest and therefore is pre loaded with all the various wormers etc so if you say you've used equest it knows the worming interval but also allows you to enter worm counts. Has vaccs farrier and dental categories too. You can enter several horses, and set alerts say a week before jabs are due. Quite handy to have it all in one place.

Ooh sounds interesting - I'll have a look. Thank you!

So the new credit card arrived this morning. It's offered 23 months at 0% on balance transfers with a 0% fee. The limit is enough to transfer both cards across plus the £150 ish currently on my other card. I usually pay the other off monthly - use it for petrol etc to get the clubcard points but with it being a tight month I've added it to the others to give us a bit of breathing space. Not ideal I know but I needed to take the hit somewhere  So I now have just the one card to remember to pay but with a bigger scarier number. I've now got a couple of cards unused, so will phone and cancel these once the BT gone through.

I've had another bid on eBay - so currently at £9.98. Not great (I've got loads listed lol!), but definitely a step in the right direction.

Today we're having a day around the house in an attempt to get it half way near clean and tidy before the weekend. Wish me luck :rotfl:
  • Spoke too soon about the weather- the big lads been back in the last couple of nights. Oh well it was nice while it lasted!

Nothing much to report money wise, just trying to keep it all ticking over until payday. I've got £24 in bids so far, with all my items ending tonight. This will take me to almost half way towards the vets bill. Can't wait to get this paid, then I can get back to focusing on the credit card.

Updated my spreadsheet in light of the new cc - definitely aiming to have this paid off by the end of the 23 month 0% period. Preferably a lot sooner.

Been thinking about looking into ppi claims - it's likely we took it out on our first mortgage as we were young and naive and pretty much went along with everything they said. OH also thinks he had it on an old car finance plan but that was from 15 years ago, so not sure whether it's too old. Will do some research this week.
  • Morning all!
Little man seems to be favouring the 4am wake up calls again. Fingers crossed it doesn't last too long!

eBay sales finished at £53.88 yesterday. Very please with that. 4 out of the 6 have paid already, so will get packing and down the post office later. Takes my mini target for the vets bill to £113.03 /£200 :T Can't wait to get the money set aside and get back to my overpayments!

Right so after playing with the spreadsheet yesterday, the verdict is as follows:

    1. Continue paying at current rate, DF date March 2019
    2. Up payments to £270 per month once back at work DF date March 2018 (end of 0% period).
    3. Aim for £100 per month overpayments DF date October 2017

As OH car is getting on, the chances our we'll end up replacing that within 3 years, so would be great to go for scenario 3 and hopefully get a bit of money behind us towards the new one. I like a challenge.....

    Jobs for this week:
    1. Post eBay
    2. Sort Mums birthday pressie
    3. Meal plan
    4. Order horse supplement
    5. Tidy tack room and sell anything not needed.
    6. Sort utility room.

Very similar to do list as mine!!

Well done on the ebaying. I have a load of show rugs that don't fit any of mine, so really I should get them on but people want anything for nothing! Also saddle cloths etc etc, but these are ten a penny anyway so not sure if they should just go to charity or such like.

All looking great, and I hope the little man starts favouring at least 5:30 opposed to 4am! LOL
