I'm all excited as I had a PM from MSEBadger awarding me my 7th Anniversary Badge:dance:. Where has all the time gone though?
Yay happy 7th anniversary. the years are flying by!
I don't have much energy as said before I would happily lie in bed all day :rotfl: just needs must and all that.0 -
Good day All! Really surprised with progress for my first month trying this challenge - I wish this would continue every month, although i doubt it (I will try though).. had a quite a few survey prize monies pending as it turns out.
£32.45 from a surveys app, bringing total to a hard to believe £101.90!:j:j:j
On a side note: how does one even go about acquiring badges for things such as utilising MSE's utility comparison tool to switch (It has saved me so much during the 2 years I have been on the lower contract)Debt Free Wannabe (Since 12/15 - Target 06/17). Overdraft ([STRIKE]£1250[/STRIKE]/£1000) Personal Loan ([STRIKE]£615.70 [/STRIKE]£0) Credit Card ([STRIKE]£432.03[/STRIKE] £2064.74)
SPC 10: #549! SPC9: £86.46 / Make £10 a day: 2016: 536.740 -

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Happy New Year everyone!!!
101 months WOW!!!!!
Life has changed since this thread started.
I am going to give you a bit of my story since this thread and I hope you read it as a positive not as a brag.
I started this thread when things were very very desperate, debt up to our eyeballs not possible way of getting more if anything went wrong, overdrafts maxed too. Prescriptions would be prescribed but no money to get them and our whole food cupboard bore the SmartPrice logo. We didn't do anything or go anywhere when my husband saw a Martin Lewis article online and bought the book, we then used the forum and the help and information inspired us. Suddenly finding and making money felt like an exciting new game (almost a hobby) and every single penny we earnt or saved went off the date and we watched our Debt Free date get closer and closer by the minute. This thread inspired me so much there were so many ideas to explore and tips and help.
I think until you are truly truly skint you never understand how to watch your pennies but once you have learnt it you never lose it and will always be careful and make your money stretch.
We became debt free maybe 7 years ago or more but we still have the MSE way. We've gone from financial ruin to saving for fun things and pretty much living the dream all from what we have learnt. There is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel and when you become debt free it is AMAZING and all the money you used to spend on debt becomes savings and holidays..
Stick with it, it is worth it and as I sit tonight to book our family trip to New York I am actually pleased we had the debt as it taught us so much.

I'm here... nothing to report except I have swapped my ISP - so that should hopefully save me some money. I never normally engage with cold callers but it was my mobile company so I listened and they offered me a good deal and hopefully they'll be better than the current "fruit-coloured" company who have never sent me a bill and don't ever answer the phone.
As long as the BB isn't too slow.
Once I've had a bill or two, I'll work out what I'm saving and pop it into the savings account I found at the bank. The other thing I did was cancel a DD to a phone company for insurance on my phone at a massive £15 a month.Make £520 a year in 2020 so far (£0 cash £0 AGC)

Penny challenge: 21/366 (66.70/671.61)
