I don't think you have any other options but to find the money somehow.

You will be sanctioned if you turn the job down.
You will always be in the same position with any other job, so effectively you are unemployable unless you find a way round it.

Congrats on your job offer.

Try speaking to the nursery and see if they will take part payment upfront, explain what's happening, they may be able to sort something out if you explain.

Accept the job. I refuse to accept there is no way to solve this problem.

Explain you have childcare issues but desperately want the job, and ask if there is any way they can help.

Get you partner to do the same. My employers offer these kind of things, just need to ask hr - do this tomorrow or you may be waiting til January - plus there are childcare vouchers etc.
Ask as nice as you can if the nursery would agree to defer part of the payment - perhaps offering as much as you can up front. Even if this means being unable to pay some bills next month. This is counterintuitive advice, but ignore council tax for a month then paying it at payday would help you bridge the gap. Nursery suddenly becomes a priority bill, like rent/mortgage/ food.

Normally I would say eBay the life out of anything you own, MusicMagpie any DVDs/CDs, Cash Converters etc. But I am not sure you will raise funds quickly at this time of year. Especially if you are waiting on this nags through the post.

As others have said, you can't let this chance go, you must do everything to scrounge up the £700.

Can OH get an advance on his wages?

Ask family and friends for loans, early birthday money, sell Xmas presents on ebay?

Spend on credit cards - short term pain for long term gain!

Will the nursery accept credit card? some do so it would be worth asking.

I would say turning down the job isn't an option really.

Hi. I get the feeling that the OP doesn't want to accept the job, throwing in the towel before every option has been explored. She has a history of starting numerous posts, including several SOA's, since Feb 2011, and not coming back to acknowledge the replies.

Bextas, if you are ever going to get yourself out of debt, you will do everything you can to take this job. Improving your financial situation by earning money, along with the support of your partner, is the only way you can dig yourself out of a hole. Face up to the truth, you need to work. Suggestions have been made as to how you can overcome this problem, help yourself, you can do it.

Hi. Congrats on your new job but it's a shame you had to decline it. Your message says you are on JSA with a 2 year old baby. My question would be why on that kind of benefit as i think you should be on Income Support as your child is under 5years old and there is a fund available to Jobcenter to help people like yourself if they need to go back to work.

Thanks I have as pointed out by another poster who has done their homework got debts and have no way of raising £700. I've tried all you have suggested. desperate to get out to work and sort debt but not sure what I can do to raise £700. On top of this by turning down the job my jsa gets stopped. I'm so angry at myself for getting in to debt over the years it's really impacting my life now.
