Name formatting on debit/credit cards

Options
Currently some of my debit/credit cards displays my full first name and last name (e.g. Joe Bloggs), and some are just the first initial and full last name (J Bloogs).

I like my cards to have just my first initials and full last name (e.g. J Bloggs). If i call the bank to put a request saying that once my cards expire, i want my new cards to display my first initial and full last name. Would they do it?

    I don't think so.
Why do you care? Nobody looks at your bank cards anymore except you.

They'd probably be unsure whether to put Bloggs or Bloogs!

  • I can only speak for RBS Group here but we are able to display your card name to your preference. I don't imagine it being much different in other banks. We type them ourselves so it should be possible.

Awkward when you're sending Stephanie a card and write Seph instead...

(Ignoring my other thread when I said my supermarket does not accept contactless)....

When I do occassionally go to Waitrose, it is incredibly creepy when they look at your MyWaitrose Card and say:

"How are you today, Mr Bloggs?"

I mean, it just feels so forced that they stare at my card for 3 or 4 seconds and then say it :rotfl:

EDIT: When I come to think of it, they don't even say Mr. Bloggs, they say Joe! Maybe i'm the only one that thinks it's just weird.

I guess you're having an identity crisis Book12 or is it Dragonfly?

We don't all have an Alter ego. I'm not certain whether you were being rude or that was a very poor joke.

The thread I was actually referring to, posted by Dragonfly (I posted in both threads at the same time - so if anyone read both threads, they would wonder why I said no contactless, and mentioned Waitrose in this thread...):

How would the formatting of your name on your card stop Waitrose checkout staff to call you by the name printed on your card?

Have you considered changing your checkout operator? Or are you fancying them as much as they fancy you? An invite to a date might be in order in this case....

A friend of mine has just become a grandfather to the grandchild of the woman who accosted him some 40 years ago at the local Waitrose checkout....and so far, they lived happily ever after
