I had an HSBC card with my full name, middle name included.

It was changed to initials and surname at my request. Giving away a middle name could compromise security.

I agree with you regarding your full name could compromise security.

I have a card with Lloyds Banking Group and it shows my full name, first letter of middle name, and last name. Want it to be initials, first letter of middle name, and surname. will call them if they can do this.

Other cards I hold with other banks are initials and surname by default. It's easier too when you need to put your name on online forms when doing online shopping.

If HSBC can do that for their customers, hopefully, other banks will do it too.

Other than with AmEx cards, the name isn't part of the authorisation message, so you can put whatever you want anyway.

Queried regarding the name formatting on credit/debit cards on the phone with the bank a while back.

They said I need to go to branch with ID, so that they could perform that request. I find it a bit odd though, as I'm not changing my name, just the format of it on the cards. I didn't bother I'm the end, and went for their default name format which is full first name and last name.

Odd. I would change some more of mine but it's a bit pointless as most of them don't leave the house, plus I'm of an age where I have to carry my driving licence around everywhere anyway.
