NST - January. Bobs post bauble debt busting challenge

Good evening.
Still raining here. Thankfully we are on a hill but a lot of towns around us are suffering really badly.
It's quite heartbreaking seeing places that I love to visit so badly damaged.
Today is spend-free day number 4 out of 5.
:j
Spent an hour at work for a training course so a little bit extra wages there. Unfortunately, again, these won't get paid until February's wages. So not quite sure how that works.
:undecided
All the good TV is starting so this might allow me more spend-free days. We have masterchef USA just starting (the first ever series), take me out (guilty pleasure) and we are just away to start watching secret tricks of the restaurant trade. Hooray for TV.
Glad to hear that your first day went well TOG. Sounds like a great job with lots of variation.
Chocolatelover... Maybe your hubby has decided to start cooking every so often as a new year thing?? It would be lovely if he does start cooking for you when you are on a late shift. I know (if you are anything like me) that when you get home, you normally just have junk food or a snack as the "want to eat" is gone.
Might have to go and nosey for vouchers as OH and I would like to eat out once a month (or have a takeaway). It would be good to get a bargain. Thanks for the tip raphael.
Hugs to everyone.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

NSD no 2 for me today despite having a take away for dinner. OH paid out of his personal money as he wanted the meal. It was an OK meal but we both agreed that as usual the thought of it was better than the actual meal. We have decided that we need to stop ALL take away food as we can cook as good if not better at home for far less cost.
Tomorrow will be a spend day as we are having all of the dogs bathed and groomed. We usually do it ourselves but we thought we would try out a mobile company to see if the dogs are less stressed by a stranger bathing them. Need to warn them that one of the dogs will probably scream as if she is being murdered, that could really be good for business for the company ....not :rotfl:
Inventories of all food have been done but I still need to look at a meal plan for the rest of the month. Looking at what we have in the freezer etc I think I can porobably make 30 meals or more. Will still need to do some shopping in order to allow us some variety throughout the month.

Evening all,
SFD number 5 here today :j I just can't be bothered to spend at the moment, might break it tomorrow so that I can buy some salad to have with my homemade pizza but might prefer to keep my SFD
stewby - are you a fan of Silent Witness? That started last night, they do a series of two-parters (Monday and Tuesday). I love them but I'm such a wuss that I get really scared afterwards. Last night, I was too tired and thought I'd be too scared so watched one episode when I got in from work and think I'll brave the second episode tonight before bed.
Hope you've all had good days, lots of savings being made by the sounds of your posts :jLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

As mentioned yesterday today was a planned spend day - I got my soya milk for the next few days plus Paracetamol. This is from the grocery budget.
I have also paid another £90 to my Halifax c/c taking me up to my stretch payment of £100. This should have cleared the last of the interest bearing debt on that card leaving me with my 0% for 21 mths (I think I have 19mths to go).
Can't wait for the statement which is due any day now!!
Still not done my charity donation but will on my next spend day. Also not got anything for free - may have to enter some competitions.
Am doing surveys each night so hopefully by the end of the month I can request some payouts.
Well done to everyone on the challenge - we are all doing fab!!:T0 -
Just popping in with 4/5 NSD , I'm also a wuss, skimming MSE when the scary bits come on on silent witness lol
Lunch was from home, all foods used from stores today.
A work colleague gave me a pack of muller yog as she wasn't going to use them, another gave my son a 10 pack of fruit shoots as her GD didn't like the flavour she bought, DH brought home a jar of Lloyd grossman sauce so all will be used and all free.
All back in school and routine again thank goodness, xNST October #24.

CEW - I'm completely with you on take aways. I used to get them around once a week till about 3 years ago when I started trying to sort the finances. I find now that I can't bear to spend the money on something I can do better myself. Roast dinners out are another bug bear as they now charge around £9 per head for a roast around here. I can get a free range whole bird and all the veg for the cost of one dinner out.
Fmess - wow you are on fire! 5 in a row is amazing. You and FunBrum are leading the pack.
Eager Elephant - well done on hitting your stretch target so early in the month!

Managed a NSD today, despite previously thinking I would need to pop to the shops so that's 1/21 for me :j
Have been trying to put together an online order since the weekend but the kids appear to have had other ideas about letting me have the time to meal plan etc so will probably have to pop out tomorrow to pick up something for tea unless I can salvage something from the freezer/cupboards.
It is hard getting things done with children around isn't it. Do you think there is a routine you could put in place to make sure they don't scupper your online time for food ordering?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Quick check in from me tonight after another completely manic day... Full teaching day, meeting after work, plus an argument on the phone with the hospital allegedly dealing with dh's care. Refuse to stress about it though.
Busy days = no spend days, so I have managed 3 so far.:T Which is a good job - because finances are tight as ever this month and things are not looking up as far as dh is concerned. Ah well, good news is that I can just about balance the books

As I had to pay in advance to have the sofa cover dry cleaned, came home via the supermarket. If I hadn't had to pay today, I'd have hit the yellow stickers for an NSD
I'm having what can only be termed A Bit Of A Sort Out round the abode as some things never quite settled into place when I moved in. Well, they needn't get too comfortable, they'll be heading out of the door soon!
