It rather repends on what type of metering you have.
For an average user (3100kWh/year) on a credit meter, paying monthly by DD, based in London supply region, I see all the following suppliers offering a lower tariff (some have a number of tariffs lower) than Bulb:
Symbio
Neon Reef
Green
OFTM
Utility Point
Nabuh
Yorkshire Energy
Gulf
Igloo
People's Energy
The cheapest annual cost would be £405, whereas Bulb would set you back £478
However, if you are with a PPM, Bulb are currently coming out cheapest at £483
As always, consult a comparison site to find yourself the best deal.
Prices will vary by supply region, and of course are dependant on your actual consumption.
Prices were correct at time of posting for new applications.0 -
Half of those companies are ones that I personally wouldn't go near though as I'm not just price driven. (although Bulb's service currently is terrible anyway)
Symbio, Utility Point, Nabuh and OFTM have been too cheap for too long, and all have had issues either in the past or currently.
Neon Reef is Utility Points backup company for when they go bust this year.
People's Energy needing to do 2 month up front in the winter months puts me off.0 -
Having been with Bulb over a year now I will say I have had no problems with them APART from their Gas prices, WHEN oh WHEN are you going to drop your high gas price Bulb, C'MON!!!!!!!!
I like Bulb, easy website to use, easy submitting meter reads, no problems with billing, adjust my own DD BUT!!!!!! this high gas price is annoying me now, Bulb, MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT SOON!!!!0 -

Astute people switched Gas out from different suppliers to cheaper Gas suppliers, Yes Bulb very expensive for Gas and even if it reduced its Gas prices would still be very expensive, I switched Gas out from Bulb last April.....0 -

I agree with every word of that.
Twice in recent weeks I was one finger press away from switching away but then thought I'll give them a bit more time to drop their gas price.
Like others though, I won't wait forever.1 -

I wonder if any prepay customers can tell us of their experiences?
See here for Bulb opening hours..

If youve had an outage on your gas or electric meter, what was the response like?0 -
Can't say that I'm impressed with the Bulb web site. When I attempt to "refine my quote" it persists in believing that I am with NPower and Brit Gas (not so) even though I try to correct it. I suppose in this scenario it is not difficult to claim savings (which are pie in the sky)Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
I am so fed up with e-on, I am thinking of switching even though I am still in contract. Could anyone tell me whether Bulb still pay exit fees, please? I began a switch to Bulb last year and stopped it the day before the 14 days ran out; would this be held against me, were I to try to switch to them again?
Sorry if these questions are dumb or lazy; I just cba to read through a whole load of t's and c's when I can switch penalty free in a little over 3 months if I can just stick e-on's godawful customer service until then. TIA.0
