Hi, I'm considering switching to bulb from a fixed tariff as it is currently being suggested by the energy saving club but I'm a bit nervous about a variable tariff after many years of being fixed and the fact that the current offer closes on 9th January
Please can any current bulb clients here tell me if bulb have made any recent price increases or are they saving a shock until the offer period ends.
Cynical! Moi?

Am on E7 and I joined Bulb in November when I believe they had just had a price increase.
It's all a gamble. In the past I've ended up paying over the odds by going for the safe fixed tariff option and I'm sure others could say the same of variable.
I had to move anyway as my old deal had come to an end. Bulb was cheaper than the alternatives offered - even without taking into account referral cash back. There is no tie in so it seemed like a no brainer. Live life on the edge and go for it. :j0 -
Does anyone have any experience with Green Network Energy or Yorkshire Energy (Green Partridge)?
Am considering moving to Bulb, obv nervous abt a variable deal, but the 2 above also have good rates for me (Econ 7 40%).0 -
No experience to offer FF but I am erring towards GNE now with their 18 month fix dual fuel. yes there is an exit penalty but the quote for me is good and only £45pa more than I'm currently paying ScottishPwr but that ends jan31 when it has a masive hike.
The only downside to GNE that I can find is the DD is taken in advance so there is a risk of 2 payments one to each provider at the changeover.
I heard on the news this morning that as a result of the price cap coming into effect today that some suppliers were withdrawing some of their cheaper deals to make up for their "losses" due to the cap. I guess this is likely to be the big boys mainly. I'm going to keep an eye on GNE and join them as soon as I see any suggestion of their tariff changing.

Thanks MST! I'm also with Scot Power and leaving 31 Jan! The Bulb deal will give me £700 pa usage and GNE £714 pa so not much in it (best Scot P deal £900 haha).
ps: no gas deal for me... I live in the sticks and we don't have mainline gas so have to use LPG for heating/hot water (the good news is that I moved from Calor to Flogas and my heating bill has gone down a massive 40%!).
Also, I can't see any links for a discount on Bulb any more, have they stopped?
AND the Bulb guy doesn't seem to appear on this thread any more?0 -
Thats interesting - we must be in different areas (southampton for me).
Scottish power currently £803 rising to £1004 !**!
GNE will be £874 and £25 cashback
Bulb will be £901 and £25 cashback
My consumption is pretty low 1722kWh LX and 14226kWh gas
as I have solar PV and solar thermal for hot water for about 7-8 months a year.
The two systems earn about £1400 PA in FIT so I can't complain about my net energy bill of over -£500!

I'm with Scot Power and they continually try to put my DD up (leaving end of month). I don't allow it - I go online and adjust it back down to the usual amount and it's been like that for abt 3years. When I give meter readings each month I get the notification whilst still logged on - so just go through and change it back down. Never been a problem for me but I can see this same process happening with Bulb... but again the posts suggest you can go in and change it back immed. As long as you can do that I don't see a problem.
One important thing though... I make sure my DD has landed with Scot P BEFORE I give the meter readings, otherwise it thinks I'm in a debit situation and will deffo put up DD. Always check DD has gone through before giving monthly meter reading. (Don't have and never want a smart meter - I like to be in control).
Bit nervous about moving to them cus it appears they're having more problems since their customer base increased substantially.
And, as I said before, the Bulb guy doesn't appear to be on this thread any more.0 -
My usage is 4742 kWh per annum! About £664 pa, but, as I said, rising to over £900 if I stay with them, lol
I'm Northants.
In fact, the deal I found is:
Daily Standing Chg £0.2455
Day Units £0.15383 per unit
Night Units £0.08201 per unit0 -
I've not looked at E7 deals but I did notice that some of their best offerings were exclusively via comparison websites. A bit strange as they have to pay the comparisons site fees.
Must suit their business model I guess.
