I agree though. I'm all up for a good old heated debate but no need for malice.
btw my 12 yr old daughter is sitting as I peruse this thread, and said "What was the scam?"
I said that someone was done out of a few hundred quid at a fairground.
She said, "What did they knick her credit card?
I said no, and I think it is a he
Oh, well what happened she said, so I explained.
"What?" she said. "Don't they have any self restraint?"
lmao Wise beyond her years. (And taught well by her mum)I can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -
Few years ago when we were there was a similar one, tried & failed with us of course, the same guy was on 'Real Hustle' warning people of the scams which can be done (he's on the end of the video on the link posted)One day I might be more organised...........

That was my first reaction, but the people who operate these scams are experts at "pushing your buttons" and applying psychological pressure. Few of us can be sure of our ability to resist...
Thomas Merton describes being the victim of something very similar. And he was not only highly educated but also became a spiritual guru to an entire generation.0 -

Not all of it is...i live in the residential part and hardley ever venture down to the promenade or into town, i don't need to. I have local butchers, grocers and bakers on my doorstep. People seem to think "Blackpool" is hotels, arcades and the pleasure beach. in reality thats just a small part of it. The rest is farmland, quiet streets, pubs that still cook home made meals and a community spirit that lasts well after the season finishes.0 -
I am sorry this hppened to you but if anyone ever tried to get me to play games like these I refuse and will not let anyone with me play them either, it has happened to me in the past, only a few quid though but why would anyone play away this kind of money, £10 a go was bad enough but uping the stakes when your not winning is just stupid.
No one could get me to part with that much money for nothing.0 -

Famous last words.
I don't think I have ever fallen for this kind of thing, but if an expert at this really targetted me, I don't know what would happen.0 -
I fell for it once, but I've learnt! Though i didn't lose as much as the OP.
Now when they call me over, i just say 'na, you're ok' and carry on walking.just passing through.... Nothing to see....0 -
We are all up for something for nothing, humans need for bettering oneself with minimum effort is an evolutionary development. If the OP is greedy then so am I and so are you all. We've all tried to gain something and it hasn't worked out. Look at rich people. Now they are usually very greedy and they usually got where they are through desire to better their lot. And its paid dividends for them.
Read Robert Caldini's book "INFLUENCE, The Psychology of Persuasion" and you may not be so quick to judge. Its pretty scary to know that there are people out there who know exactly how to push your buttons. We're all wise after the event.
To the OP you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and off guard. Your mind was on autopilot and these guys pushed your buttons. Don't feel ashamed, theres many a better man been had than some of the flamers on here.;)0
