You aren't meant to contact the spammers in any way whatsoever, or it simply increases the amount of spam you get. Give a unique email address to everyone you sign up with and you can soon see who has passed on your details and any that attract spam you simply stop using that address. I've reduced my spam down to zero in this way.
But thats just it. They dont HAVE an option to unsubscribe. I spent ages blocking them all but they just come back with a slight change to the address.
I have given up now and just never read anything in bulk. I know I probably miss a few genuine e mails, but thats the price I pay for being a freebie hunterI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. You said most don't have an option to unsubscribe which implies that there were some and also implies that you would use the unsubscribe option if there was one. I was just giving a warning that the unsubscribe in any spam doesn't work and only makes things worse. If you're signing up to freebies etc I hope you aren't giving your main email address. Even if you don't want to do what I do with giving a unique email address to everyone, you could still setup a separate gmail account just purely for signing up for the freebies. (the gmail spam filter is also quite good in itself)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Honestly, even the loss of just one genuine email isn't a price worth paying -- Sod's Law could well have it that the legitimate email you fail to receive or
fail to read is an email of genuine importance.
Nothing wrong with hunting freebies so long as you appreciate that the cost of handing out a freebie, even in quantity, can work out less than buying a cleansed, up-to-date and legitimate target list from a broker.
Superscaper's advice is spot on: I also have a number of web mail accounts from Google which I use for "disposable" correspondence, not least in the hope that one day, perhaps, I might profit from being the target of a UK-based spammer --

I have already said somewhere that my dad, and also me now, has a separate e mail account for freebuies.
I use whichever my ISP is. IMy main e mail is a yahoo one and Ichange isps every month in order to get either free or £1 a month internet access so use the isp e mail. I never log into it and if it gets full of spam the spammers'll get a shock when their messages biounce back when my contract with the current isp expires!
I have about 10 g mail addresses but they do get spam in them even so.
My yahoo filters all the spam into bulk, its just now and then a genuine e mail goes into bulk too.
This bad freebie happened about 4 years ago. I have since learned my lesson and use didd e mail but just cannot shift the beggars and as there are many things I have subscribed to with that addy such as pinecone research, valued opinions, lightspeed, pigsback, quidco etc, I dont want to just abandon itI can be brown I can be blue I can be violet and sky. I can be hurtful I can be purple I can be anything you like..Gotta be green gotta be mean gotta be everything more...0 -

Since when is playing a fairground game evidence of greed or stupidity?
You may have strict Presbyterian tendencies but your joylessness isn't shared by thick, greedy, something-for-nothing-seekers like me who buy a Lottery ticket. Or visit a fairground stall in expectation of a bit of fun.
If you want some posts to be moved, your own definitely qualifies for the Sour & Miserable section.
