Doing tip's to get a better car is done in the garage, I know, I do it every year.
A 'lot' attendant may let u get into a better car, but when you get to the exit, its a different story.....Yep tried the tip in the garage and failed (see above)
what happens when you get to the exit and they check your papers
Hi Stuie
Did I miss your reply.
what did you mean , when you get to the exit it is a different story0 -

Yeah I don't get it either. I have hired cars in Vegas for the last 20 years and if the voucher for the type of car you have paid for doesn't match what you are trying to exit with you wont get out.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

for those who have used Alamo recently - I just checked in and the voucher says to go to the counter to get my paperwork and keys...somehow I thought that if I checked in online I could go straight to the cars and skip the counter. Am I making that up? I'm also having deja vu over this...we have only used Alamo once before and I wonder if I had exactly the same question last time...Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

You may have missed a step
you can check in online then you have to do another step to be able to go straight to the car, cant remember exactly what it is you have to do though, but I have done it for our pick up in may
just checked my voucher and it is a "skip the counter" voucher, I think you have to be a member of Alamo insiders to get it but not sure0 -
thank you! found it on the check-in confirmation email, and all done.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

Alamo: (even when checking in online)
You goto the booth and complete the booking there and bang in credit card into machine, or goto the desk to complete the same.
Alamo Insiders - think its like Dollar DE / Hertz , so u can skip....
Although, good tip and communication between garage and exit guy = win win
Dollar: if DE, go straight to Garage desk
Hertz Gold - Go straight to Garage Gold Desk
I use all 3, for any trip I/we do to the states..
What I was saying about the Exit and being a different story...
Last year, with Dollar, I tipped a guy $10 in the garage, and he let me take a Nissan Maxima (PCAR /Premuim).
When I got to the Exit, the guy was like "your booking is for a fullsize".....
So I give the speil about me having a free upgrade voucher to the next class, and I checked it with that guy over there (points to a garage guy in the distance).. The Exit guy goes to talk to that garage kid, 4 min's later, the 'Exit' guy is back, asks to see license and credit card again, and lets me out....
So the story is, depending on circumstances, that non-official upgrade can go either way, and u not get out of the garage!
The year before, I did the same, paid a guy $20, and went from Fullsize to Buick Lacrosse which is Luxury class (LCAR), but that guy wrote something on the sleeve of my booking form, so at the Exit gate, I said to the guy I had a friendly chat with <name> and he put me in this, so 1 min later, we drove out!
That's what I mean about stories, I think its Hit and Miss, as I have seen cars reverse at the exit gates too and watch people get out.... (before the exit spikes)0 -

Free show tickets if it works for you.
My direct Aria 3 day booking just provides Blue Man Group, but is worth trying.
Anyone who booked this how did you get past the information page? Keeps asking for state, zip, and phone despite it stating US only.0 -
put in the address of hooters, and there phone number, I did0

Nice answer StuieUK34, but I just retried and luckily got it to work with my own address.
I never bothered before as I was pretty certain I would be cancelling a Aria reservation, as I had double booked with MGM Sig via hotels.com at a good rate.
However, rebooked MGM Sig direct today, and as long as the $ does not go under 1.3 I have made a £ saving and have 2 free tickets to Blue Man.0
