It was probably really rude of of me to initiate the 'guess how old Tony is' game when my in laws met him...but I couldn't help myself. He should be writing books and teaching us mere mortals all his tricks.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Haha. He didn't realise you were doing that at first. Once he did, he sat up straighter. I told him it would make no difference.

His secret is that I do all the worrying for us both.
  • We've got nearly everything in place now for our Vegas trip in September.

    3 nights at Tuscany
11 Nights at Platinum (nvh - that's from the 6th if you are still there then)

Haven't booked a car yet. We could get it at any point in the trip though as we could walk from Tuscany to Platinum quite easily! We could even just go to the pool while we wait for our room if need be as it will be so easy to have our stuff ready when it's such a short trek. We could even do it in 2 runs if we struggle to carry stuff. We'll want a car to stock up though so it might make sense to get it at the start and the crossover.

Still clicking away at Social Rewards and each got $100 or so worth (partly carried over from last year and some new points), so we'll be clicking away so as to get some more if possible. It has been slow the last few months (well the last year) but I've been getting a bit more lately. Definitely still worthwhile.

Myvegas - still trying to accrue LPs, but not as much as before. I know I'm not going to get much because 2x buffets are few and far between. That said, I'm happy with some Bellagio 2/1s or whatever but they also won't use up a lot of LPs so maybe not much point in playing too much as I might struggle to spend the LPs within the max 3 redemptions. I can do some station rewards too, GVR or Red Rock buffets. I like those.

LVA - not sure if we'll buy one to be honest. Myvegas crosses over it in terms of stations. Ok, Rio 2/1 is always nice to have, Silverton too. Can't decide whether to get it. Might see what there is on myvegas by then and take it from there. :)

We will be getting the LVA book this year. Staying at Palms for part of the trip so we can use the voucher for the bill. That's the book paid for straight away.

Ooh, nice one. You can use it for half your hotel bill? Is it 50% up to $50? I can't quite remember. When are you going this year? 2 trips?

50% discount up to $100, so we will get $50 off the bill each. We always get one each and this time we will win right away.

I'm getting quite disillusioned with MyVegas, which I know is churlish since it's free to play! I have just under 1 million LPs and I'll struggle to spend many now that so many rewards have a minimum stay in a MGM property attached to them. I'd like to try and get the LV Strip helicopter flight one, and I would go back to Tender after trying it through MyVegas last trip, but not sure about anything else...

I noticed yesterday that one of the UK partners is the Genting in Birmingham. I Googled and found that it's right next to the NEC. We show dogs and go to Crufts each year, usually staying at the NEC Hilton. If I can get them and the dates aren't blacked out, I might use some LPs on the Genting for next month.

I know what you mean about MyVegas. Between us we have more than 4 million chips. We will never get to use them.

Did I imagine it, or did they used to have quite a few rewards in "tiers", where you could get the reward without an MGM property stay, but you had to spend a lot more LPs doing it? I'm sure that was the case last year when they started bringing in the mandatory stays. Now it just seems more or less everything is linked to a 3 night stay at that specific property.
