hi
I can understands peoples frustrations in regards parking fee, add on other fees as well like the resort fees and well it builds up fast!!
as for the parking fees -it must be working well for them, i mean IF(and its a big if) people stoped usuing the parking and stuff im sure they d quickly stop the scheme but they haven't
The first time we went to vegas we both felt it ll be our first and only time in vegas til we got home and said lets book up again!
same thing happened last year !
Im not too sure about vegas next year though. For some reason when we got back from our trip in june i didn't feel like booking up again, nearly 6months down the line, Im still in 2 minds about going back, , i guess a mixture of things such as the travelling and i guess the resort fees i hate(i know i should consider it part of the whole price)0 -
There are plenty of other places to visit in the USA but of course it all depends on what you want."Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0

Prices for everything go up.
My heating bill will go up £20 a month when my contact finishes.
Food costs will go up next year.
Vegas was never a cheap holiday option...but you could get good value.
Now it costs a fair bit more than when we first went, with "new" costs like resort fees, and parking charges.
But the biggest increase for us is the amount of pounds we now need to change for our spends while there.
The rates have steadily gone down from $2 to the £....but was generally happy with anything around $1.50.
Low exchange rate,Add on the fact that we now like to gamble in the casinos a bit more now,and the overall spending money is quite a lot more than we used to need to take.
But we love going to Vegas...if we can afford it,we will probably continue to go.
We have booked New York/New Orleans for June next year....the hotel costs for those places are massively dearer than hotels in Vegas.
So much so,that we will probably book to stay outside of Manhattan when we go.
We are more than happy to stay in hotels like The Orleans, and Luxor/MC
So paying £150+ a night for a "cheap" New York hotel puts Vegas costs in perspective for us.
No one likes it when you find yourself paying more....especially when those extras never used to be charged for.....but a good price on a flight,a deal on a hotel room, free food from Mlife and good places you can always use for a cheap meal....Ellis Island...and it's not hard to "save" a bit on increasing costs.
Bottom line for us...if we can still afford to go to Vegas,we will continue to go...after all there is nowhere better is there ?
That's why we will be there again next October, and hopefully many more times after that.0 -
24 hours ago, and my mindset was I was coming to the end of a superb holiday and would be back very soon.
Now, after landing at 8 am this morning, I never want to go back. I hate jetlag when we come home.0 -
hi brats
and you are totally right in the points you have made- had forgotten about the exchange rate !!
vegas is an amazing place though, its the best holiday i ve been on this year when we did new york-vegas.
new york is also a great place though you are right in regards the prices, and the bathrooms in the rooms, my god there tiny !!!
I am looking at doing new york-vegas again next year but most likely on my own! hopefully i can find a few deals !
Seldom Seen Kid- i can so relate! when we had returned home i was jeg laged and well as many people may well know i have little patience as it is, but after jeg lag its twice as worse!!!0 -
The car parking charge has killed Vegas for me . A night in the Excalibur gets close to $100 a night. I just stay one night at the beginning and end of each trip to the US. I stay at Comfort Suites etc when touring and the points soon add up for free nights. Just coming to the end of a month long trip and heading back to Vegas from Tucson ready to use my MLife vouchers.0

Good points. I am a fairly newbie to LV as I started going about 5 years ago and am shortly off for my 8th trip in a week or so.
You can still get fairly good value from Vegas even though sterling is poor. Picking the right time to go when you can get a deal on a flight, not being convention season helps keep accommodation reasonable, be flexible on choice and location of accommodation, subscribing to various newsletters helps and I wouldn't hesitate to cannel a hotel if a better deal comes along.
Not a lot one can do about resort fees unfortunately, pick a smaller chain or out of town location these will be cheaper. I have been able to waive the fees on a couple of recent trips with minor complaints i.e. wifi constantly not working in the room or another occasion the room hadn't been cleaned that day.
You can still get good value on eating out like you said Ellis Island is cheap and cheerful, good deals to be had on Groupon and I will happily spend a few hours at the stage door bar on Flamingo.
I still enjoy the vibe and atmosphere of LV but like others all the added extras and low sterling value may have an impact on future visits, especially when there are other places I would like to visit. Maybe going twice a year hasn't helped, if I spread my trips say once every two or three years there may be new things to do and see.0 -
