Anyone heard anything about Marriott Las Vegas Grand Chateau? Looking for a half decent hotel for last three days of hols at end of Feb. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking that's the hotel that looks a bit like Paris (with the greeny blue bit at the roof), and it's a big building yet I've never much heard anyone mention it! Surprising to be honest as it must have a lot of rooms so someone must have stayed there! Look at the size of Platinum and we have at least 3 people on here that regularly stay there, and others who have too.

Mandalay Bay...we won't be doing it again...not even saved by the champagne add on.

Also had a groupon for ameriCAN bar at linq...as already mentioned on here, had hassle when they decided to cut the all day wristband drinks short.

We also did Mandalay Bay buffet, and found it ok. It's not the best but I don't think it's terrible. Just not a huge range IMO. I would go back on a myvegas deal, but maybe not pay full price for it.

ameriCAN - we also did that in September. Could have been around the same time as you as we are home just 2 weeks. The all day wristband was still running when we were there, when did they stop it? They're still selling it on Groupon as well.

We went into the bar at 11.00pm.They were still serving,if you paid for drinks, but said they had finished honouring the wristbands for the day.
I kicked up a fuss, and we had a couple more drinks each before leaving.

Think we may have crossed wires here....it's not that the wristband deal wasn't on,it was,but they "chose" to not serve anyone with a wristband with a drink late in the evening.

    Ah, I see.

We went in around 7pm initially maybe. We had a couple of drinks then we went for a wander. We went back and had maybe 2 or 3 more, but it was well before that time. I think they told us it was only till midnight when we bought the wristband. I'm assuming you were in it earlier and had drinks, then went back at 11 (rather than just entering at 11pm for the first time). I doubt I got my money's worth really as I only had maybe 4 or 5 vodkas, and I asked them to make them weak as I don't like strong spirits. I know cocktails are probably strong, but I don't like vodka with 7up etc to be strong. If we had known you can take your own food in we may have went a bit earlier then popped out and taken something in to eat. I don't like beer either so it probably wasn't ideal for me as 'well drinks' aren't really what I would choose in another bar.

I notice the price of it has gone up to $32 on Groupon now. I'm sure I only paid $18, was likely $24 with a 20% discount or similar.

Yeah...we had two or three drinks in the afternoon.
    Then returned after we had eaten,as I say,about 11pm.
  • an mlife question... my account is currently sitting at zero.

if i booked our room via mlife (say $1200 inc taxes), am I likely to get anything comped, waived, discounted, etc.? Or is that not enough spend to warrant much?

i'd guess we might spend an extra $1000 on other purchases and gambling while we're there.

peeps say its based on what u spend in the hotel your staying at that decides what you get comp'd/waived....

But then saying that, last year when staying in the MC for 2 nights, I had many hours play at the tables in the MC, avg hand at Blackjack was $35-$75 a hand, and I made my losses look like I blasted over $2k in 2 nights (I didn't :D:D:D )
Mlife desk wouldn't waive the upgrade fee to the Suite (room was already a free comp anyway) and some misc stuff charged to the room.....
So that's when I went and saw a host, got in her good books and had all charges wiped, followed by her details to say she will comp me when back in Vegas (which we had this year) :D

No idea what the criteria is for getting stuff waived, half the time, I think its the mood of the mlife desk staff on the day ! :D

We love the Wynn end of the strip....in fact we are staying there in 3 weeks time!!We always tend to stay in hotels at this end...we have done Mirage and TI many times and in June did Venetian(amazing). for me it is situated just where I spend most of my time...Fashionshow mall...and then the fast bus stop straight down to outlet mall.Plus we like the restaurants down there aswell. The main thing I did discover in June was that in the Wynn they still had a whole row of original Willy Wonka slots.....I am praying they are still there in 3 weeks time....sad I know but they are the only ones I seem to win on!!!!

Thinking of a stay around New Years Eve, ideally about 4 nights, is this about right for a minimum stay or do some hotels require longer?
    Any thoughts appreciated.

We loved NYE in Vegas, although it was pretty cold! Most hotels require a minimum of 2 night stay, so 4 nights would cover that easily. Unless it is this year you are thinking of going, I would say book as early as possible with free cancellation, as prices goes up pretty quickly. Have fun!
