peeps say its based on what u spend in the hotel your staying at that decides what you get comp'd/waived....

But then saying that, last year when staying in the MC for 2 nights, I had many hours play at the tables in the MC, avg hand at Blackjack was $35-$75 a hand, and I made my losses look like I blasted over $2k in 2 nights (I didn't :D:D:D )
Mlife desk wouldn't waive the upgrade fee to the Suite (room was already a free comp anyway) and some misc stuff charged to the room.....
So that's when I went and saw a host, got in her good books and had all charges wiped, followed by her details to say she will comp me when back in Vegas (which we had this year) :D

No idea what the criteria is for getting stuff waived, half the time, I think its the mood of the mlife desk staff on the day ! :D

thanks stuie... i'm guessing there's no science to it!

I'm just wondering if it's worth me booking the hotel reservation via MLife, or to go with something like Expedia + quidco.

the latter would work out cheaper with a good %age offer, but a few on here have said quidco payment can be hit and miss.

To get into perspective, we've been to Vegas north of 40 times, I play craps and B/J probable 2 hours every night. Never ever had any offers. I once played 7 nights on the trot at PlanetHo 3 hours a night average money on the craps table around $150. My host wouldn't even comp me a sandwich.
Never ever a good idea to chase the comps.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Have you tried LMT Club? https://www.lmtclub.com/ It is a US based site but using Clarity or similar wont pay any extra CC fees. I believe there may be a UK equivalent now. I started using it a couple of years ago. So now is probably my main hotel booking site, I will use Hotels.com now and again for the rewards or even Hotwire if there is a great secret rate for 1 or 2 nights. Even with top cashback or Quidco which doesn't always track, most times I find LMT Club cheaper for the same hotels.

    never heard of those.

I usually stay away from anywhere that charges a fee to join.

having said that some of the reviews are positive.

    maybe useful for some

I can understand that. There are usually codes available for free membership, that is how I joined after reading a thread on flyertalk.
  • Thanks guys, might think twice about feeling I should book via MLife then, unless of course it gives the best deal :)

If your room isn't comped you will be more likely to get your f&b room charges taken care of - that's my experience anyway. Book with whoevers got the cheapest rate!

Ahh so there's a chance we might get something taken care of...

I'm hoping we might get resort fees waived as we're unlikely to use wi-fi (good mobile network package) or the gym, etc.

    hi
I dunno if it ll help or be of use to you but when my brother and I stayed at the mgm in june(our 3rd time there) we spoke to the check in lady we spoke to her about the resort fee's and we asked if there was anything she could do to waive them, as we were pearl members and was our 3rd stay at the mgm and she said there wan't anything she could do and well "everyone had to pay"

But, as someone else as said never play for comps. As for gambiling my brother and i set a budget of $120 a day(we stayed for 10nights) for gambiling(we always used our Mlife cards in the slots and roulette) and well on our 7th day i went to the Mlife desk and asked if could do anything for us and well they said they d waiver our resort fees and we got a buffet each comped!
I guess its a bit hit n miss but always remeber to never over spend on gambiling so i d advice set a budget and stick to it

thanks bobby :) no, i'd certainly never go chasing comps, we'd just spend what we'd want to spend any way... chances are we probably wouldn't spend THAT much at MGM properties. Though food, drink, shopping and a bit of gambling might add up!

My main query was if it's worth booking my room through MLife? That way, we're spending $1500 or so straight away on the account (which we'd be spending anyway).
