That's a good page, I usually go on there to plan out where I might redeem before we go. I usually make a list of places I think I might go, often checking them for happy hours too (Yes, happy hours and 2/1s etc can be combined with TR points, making them go further and there's also no tax when you pay with them.)
We will probably keep it simple and use in Earl Of Sandwiches (craving one as I type).

I know it will get a lot harder / slower, but joined the program on 8th July and today have 1,005 points (so $10). I thought I would just mention this for anyone thinking of joining who has a up coming trip and thought it might be too late. For reference, a lot of the points come easy at the start due to watching videos and following on an active Twitter account.

I'm so excited now I'm feeling giddy :D Dr has confirmed son can travel :T She actually said he won't need it, but I' rather be safe than sorry! We are off to the Gatwick hitlon on Saturday night (courtesy of holiday extras) :D then flying in the bubble on Sunday. I've got so much I need to do within that time from now, but can't seem to concentrate :rotfl:

ps Here's links to road maps which show the routes to each of the Grand Canyon rims from Las Vegas - mainly to show how far apart they are from each other.

Fly to the south rim and take a helicopter tour from there.

We used a firm called papillon, but there are many others.

This is the tour we did. Flight + coach tour + helicopter with hotel pick up and drop off. Was very well organised.
Oh, that's what we've booked :). Cost a fortune , please tell me it's worth it, I usually spend less on a holiday than I've spent on that day :rotfl:.

It was an amazing day, totally exhausting, well worth the money.

Investigate well in advance where the mini bus will collect you, we found it somewhere down in the basement.

There are less expensive options for visiting the South Rim, for example rent a car and drive, with an overnight stop in a motel in Williams.

But a less expensive option might not be a better overall choice for you.

Thanks, we're on a three week tour with only three or four days in Las Vegas so wanted to have the optimum trip in the shortest time. I'm in awe of those of you who go to LV for a few weeks at a time, I've never been but know I don't have the stamina for that :rotfl:.

I think there is quite a bit of snobbery about the canyon. There are those that say the West rim is not the "real canyon" and you must go to the South rim.

Sorry but the west is part of the canyon, and to be honest I bet most people would want to just say they have been to the GC. West rim ticks that box.

We did it, we landed via helicopter deep into the canyon on a ridge. Got out, looked down at the Colorado river, had a glass of champagne and flew back again.

Fine with me, it didn't eat into my Vegas time or my pocket and I got to say I went to the canyon.

We also got a real adventure out of it. Our copter developed a fault light when we landed, 3 pilots huddled around the engine for a bit, took it up and back a few times to check it out, then we had to board "hot" (while the blades are turning), quite exciting.
