hi and thanks for the feedback and gee getting charged at checkout , glad you stood your ground and had the *little victory* so to speak good on you !:T
we are flying out of edinburgh ( we have a connection in newark) and we are going with united airlines.
any info on this flyertalk?no idea of whom they are sadly(going to do some research though)
thanks again
Flyertalk United airlines Lounge meet up
If you have a long layover (2-3 hours ) then maybe lounges are worth it.
Do research first to see what's on offer for the money as the paying lounges can be very hit and miss with what they do\don't offer.
There used to be some offers around re discounts on lounge pass costs.
Maybe worth a Google search for the lounge you want.
Now if you were flying from Gatwick on Aug 21st you could share the Virgin UC lounge with me :cool:0 -
I wouldn't say 2-3 hours is a long layover.
Most of that time will be spent doing immigration and security check.
We had a 2+ hour layover on a trip a couple of years ago,and due to problems with the carousel,by the time we finally got our bags, done immigration and security checks, our Connecting flight had gone.
We always feel that 2 hours is the " comfortable" amount of time to catch a connecting flight without worrying about missing the connection....providing incidents like I have mentioned above don't happen.0 -

.
I wasn't clear there
I meant if your expected time to be waiting air side is 2-3 hrs.
I have not done a layover where I need to collect\recheck bags and go through immigration for a very long time
If the OP has time\credit card viability one can apply for the Amex Gold card and get a two free entries
Into these lounges
Or maybe thats a step too far.0 -
Ok thanks for the feedback and i am weighing up the pros and cons of everything, just as Winter Jasmine said above I also feel airport prices are a bit ott(im sure there are deals to be had though)
but thanks for feedback
and to everyone whom has given me advice, just need to try work out how to get resort fees waived-reduced now !!
On a side note before i forget, Im sure i read somewhere that in your *welcome pack* when you stay at a hotel you sometimes get comp buffets(maybe other things too?) am i dreaming this? im sure we have never gotten this? we are staying at the mgm grand
On another bit of a side note aout comps and im sure 3-4months ago there were some advice, but is it worth ASKING for them? for us nothing fancy just a few buffet passes( ye ye greedy so and so s we are:D)
If you have asked for them how have you done? whom did you ask?
thanks again !:T
Getting Free buffets has never happened just by asking again IMO
you may find a bogof or discount coupons with your key card
on the other hand if you have been playing a fair bit on your players card, there is no harm in going to the (Mlife desk in your case at MGM) with your players card and asking for whatever you can get0 -
IMO getting resort fees waived just by asking is a thing of the past,

We have had discount coupons in the past, only for 10 to 25% discounts though. Last one was at PH two years ago.0 -
we haven't had the page of vouchers at check in in years, either...used to have several - never free, but some decent discounts for a few things (many you can get elsewhere, but still a nice thing).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

also, a couple of weeks before you go, start looking Vegas Values to see if there's anything of interest.
http://www.americancasinoguide.com/vegas-values
and the ongoing promotions

Most of them will not be of interest, but you never know what might pop out.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

You can ask.
You can get a new card from any casino with an M life desk by showing ID, express comps dont stay on your account for ever, i think they vanish after 12 months of inactivity, so it will depend when you last went to Vegas, if less than 12 months ago you may get a nice surprise
you can log in to Mlife and see, surprised you havent checked on there as you may have some comp nights
best to use your express comps on the last day of your visit,0
