Afternoon to everyone. I just want to say thank you for all the positive encouragement re my fear of flying. I'm guaranteed to get support on this thread - it always helps to voice your worries on here; I'm definitely feeling better about the prospect, so thank you all very much.

DLB - kids - don't you just love 'em? I well remember 'shoe-buying' day and one in particular when my DS1 was about 14 years old and kept lagging behind. When I asked him why, he said he needed to walk at least two steps behind - he didn't want any of his mates seeing him out shopping with his mum! My DS2 decided to run away when he was about 7 years old because I wouldn't let him have a TV in his room! He packed his rucksack - with nothing very practical to live on in it - then sat on top of the stairs for about an hour. In the end I had to ask why he was sat there and he said 'I've thunk and thunk and can't think of anywhere to go''; so I said 'well, have some dinner - it will help you think better. I've made enough for you even though you said you wouldn't be here'. So, he had his dinner and then said 'I've had a think and decided I'll stay here' and that was the end of that. He didn't get the TV in his room for about another ten years and didn't even ask again!

DLB - don't worry about lying to Crazychik's exOH - you did it for her sake.

STRESSEDOUT - with perserverence it won't be long before you are able to recognise the stitch you are knitting into by the way the yarn sits on the needle before you insert the other needle. Knit and purl always sit slightly differently from each other. Make sure you always have a good light - whether daylight from sitting near the window or a good lamp next to where you sit and knit in the evenings - there is nothing worse than trying to knit in a bad light. Once you are more confident you'll be racing away! I find knitting one of the most relaxing soul-soothing things to do. You'll soon have to change your name to NOTQUITESOSTRESSEDOUT! Good luck - it's worth the perserverence now.

Well, I think I'll go and get the washing off the line - looks like it's dried quite well despite the poor showing by the sun. I have also just remembered that I have the dentist tomorrow afternoon! I'm having white fillings put on the tops of six bottom teeth where they're a bit worn. I've been saving up for it - the dentist wants to do them in one go - at £44 each!! He says it will be a forty minute appointment. Nice work if you can get it! Still, no injection - so he says. I know it'll be worth it but I could get a month's food shopping with that sort of money!

    Anyway, will call in later.

Thanks for all the welcomes, and the hugs. I'm sorry for such a horrendous early post!

I'd like to say I'm feeling better, but I'm not really. I managed to get myself up and dressed, and visited my friend and her teeny tiny baby which was lovely. I've spent the afternoon going round all the local bridal shops/florists/photographers and marketing myself and my business which has taken my mind off things and made me feel like I'm still getting stuff done.

Have got a load of washing done and on the line - sat staring at piles of clean washing now though!

I've got some homegrown blackberries in the freezer and a bag of cooking apples. Told OH I'd be making a crumble today but not sure I have the energy anymore!

MIOLIERE - You're right about ME and it certainly is easier said than done...it's so hard to know how much is too much until it hits you! Sorry to hear your sister has it too. And thanks for the welcome :)

SCUZZ - Fab news about the flat! It's a fantastic feeling isn't it!

ANNIE - fingers crossed your DS starts to get better soon!
  • Afternoon all (well it's 17.41 so may well be evening before i hit the submit button)

I went to the gp this morning and he did a few checks and is happy for me to stay at home for a couple of days to see if the pain subsides on it's own.

I have been informed if it continues of gets any worse to go straight back to hospital, so fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

I cant even give birth in hospital i have to do it at home, so last nights ordeal has made me panicy i might need to go back. I need to chill out and relax i think.

My arms and wrists are looking like i am a heroin addict :rotfl: due to being used as a pin cushion last night.

    Well enough about me :T

Csarina - i really hope you get a better nights sleep tonight.

Dlb - glad you have done your shoe shopping and got it out the way, it is always soo expensive but i always find more economical in the long run to buy more expensive shoes as mine get holes in them after a week if i buy cheap!

Penelope - wow, what a handy thing you are, i'm sure they are going to knock 'em dead wearing those, i really must look my sewing machine out.

Scuzz - huge congratulations to you on the flat, lets us all know when it goes through and we can have a virtual house warming for you :T

Mrs mix - so sorry to hear about your knee, but i did have to chuckle when me being the dope i am read about your knee then hubby came in asked me something and when i carried on reading thought oh my god its a bit grey and nasty, she needs to see a doctor not wash it and air it!

Natz - Thinking of your mum and hope her op goes ok.

Annie book - hugs for you and ds hope he is feeling better soon.

Bitty - i dont think we have met, firstly hello and huge hugs to you.
ME must be one of the worst illnesses to live with, my mother was diagnosed last year with fibromyalgia last year which i believe is similar but less severe(correct me if i'm wrong) and i know the hardest thing for her is not knowing from night to night how she is going to feel in the morning. And like ME because there are no outward signs and she looks well some other people find it hard to understand and appreciate the pain and tiredness she feels.

I looked this out for Frogga last night (before my trip to a+e) but reading the posts today there seems a few who need it so for frogga and anyone else feeling a little deflated:

    Evening all
I've finally prised hubby away from the pc, weather's been quite good here, hubby & I went for a canalside walk today & stopped at a pub for a drink, (£2.57) so that was a nice cheap outing.
I don't have much other news, hugs to all that need them, welcome to Bibbity & WB Math

    Hiya!

heavenleigh What a horrible hospital experience! Make sure you take it easy.

scuzz Congratuations on the new flat!

Big hugs to anyone who needs one.

Not much to report today. Kids went over to their friend's house today for lunch so DH went into town shopping and I went grocery shopping. I bought a new wooden bread bin today from Argos and couldn't believe it was flat packed and needed assembling! Also, it's smaller than my old (tatty) one so it looks nice but isn't as functional as the last one!
Tonight's tea was sausages, mash with veg and melon and muffins for afters.
Well that's my 'exciting' day, have a good evening.
  •      disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to Manchester Aquatic Centre with my 2, Big Sis and her 2. DS has had his ipod and mobile phone (all 0f 3 weeks old) stolen from the locker. Am waiting for police to come roud and massive rage from DH as the locker was left unattended, but only for a few seconds. Feel like world is ending, dreading homecoming of DH.

  • Awww Debtphobic,

I know it doesnt help much at the moment but i am so sorry.

I know what it's like to dread the wrath of dh, but i'm sure once he has calmed down he will see it wasnt your fault.

Easier said than done but it was only a phone and an ipod, at this moment i'm sure it feels like the world has ended but these are material things and at least you and ds are ok.

I feel like i am not really helping here, i know what i want to say but for some reason cant put it into words!

Was there any cctv? hopefully the police can help you out.

I'm going to go rack my brain and come back with something more constructive and less foot in the mouth advice but i really am thinking of you and hope it works its self out.
