Daily Thread Tuesday 28th August 2007

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all..........((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) if you need one.........

Another bad night, not been to sleep yet, decided to make a drink and have a few moments on here, looks like I will have to go back onto the seditol if this keeps up.........I had been doing so well.

Mr T's today plus need to make a carrot cake and finish packing for our little trip tomorrow.........have raked out the cool boxes and the big shopping bags, clothes laid out ready to go into the travel bag..........double checked that I have all the documents we need and that the Tom Tom is still behaving.......

Rain was forecast overnight, but so far its still dry..........which means we have to pul in a trip to the lottie to water and pick anything thats ready....

By the way did anyone else see the Micheal Ball Prom last night......it was wonderful.............almost reduced me to tears at the end when he sang 'Love conquers everything' what an inspiration........and the place was packed to the rafters, a real slap in the face for the critics who said it would be a flop...............I hope they stuck them in the cheapest seats in the gods!!!!!

Better finish my drink and see if I can get some sleep.........
September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

Tesco £57.13
Petrol £10.00

Good morning csarinaknight and all to follow,

csarina, have a good trip, hope you managed to get a bit of sleep.

well here i am again at a silly hour !!! ive been awake for an hour and a half. another hedgiehog wandered into my garden yesterday afternoon and i dont think that its 100%, they only come out in the day if they are ill, it was starving , it polished of a big bowl of catfood then went to sleep for a few hours then started to wander around again in the evening, its full of ticks and i cant stop worring about it. its still wandering around on the lawn at the moment as ive been looking with a torch ! my local wildlife rescue centre is closing down so i cant take it there which only leves the vets, no doubt they are going to charge me an arm and a leg to see it, my oh is moaning and my dd was in floods over it.As you all know we allready have a family of hedgies that we feed. why do they keep finding us ?its definatly not one of our babies as its too big but its still only half grown. i have to go to work from 7.30 till 9.30 so if its still wandering around then i will have to do something also id better get some anti tick stuff to put on my cat just incase.

we watched the film Road Hogs last night with John Travolta in ... it was sooo funny, well worth watching

Me my dd and my mum are going out for chinese buffet lunch and then a walk along the seafront today. So we wont be wanting a dinner tonight just something light, maybe a boiled egg and soilders !!! oh is staying at his mums tonight.

well have a good day everyone, hugs to you all

Morning CSARINA and AMIE. have a great trip, CSARINA.
AMIE - there must be a hotline for the hedgehogs to tell all their mates about your house! Is there a local PDSA in you area? I think they treat animals for just a donation so they might be worth investigating.

Well, I didn't sleep very well because DH has to leave early to catch the ferry to France; I had set all the alarms, including the mobiles phones and the BT call reminder but I still didn't trust myself to wake up in time so I was up at about 4.30. I've planned to do loads once he's gone but I'll be tired by about 9.30 this morning! I definitely intend to visit the gym - I haven't been since last Monday because of my back problem and I've really missed it. I also need to have a good clean up - with all the packing yesterday plus tidying up the garden, it looks like a bomb has hit the house. Dinner tonight wil be easy for just me - it's all leftovers from yesterday.

Anyway, too early to tell what the weather will be like today but I don't think they've forecast any rain.

Better go now and have my shower before I get DH up for his breakfast. Will have more time to come on here for the next week or so now once he's gone to France. He's working out there on a house belonging to friends of ours so it will be interesting to see it when I fly out on 6th September - it was quite uninhabitable when they first bought it and they've managed to survive in it for three years whilst they saved up enough to start working on it. The only downside is that this will be the first time I've flown on my own. I HATE flying and, even though it's only an hour's flight, I'm starting to get the heebie-jeebies about it already!

Must go - will catch up with you all later. Hope everyone has a great day.

    Morning everyone.
Up at silly oclock today due to i realised as i got into bed last night that i hadnt washed dh work uniform!! So poped it in washer and had to get up to put in drier, its spining away as i speak but it must have been playing on my mind as iv not slept well at all!!

Today is the `TAKE 4 KIDS TO THE SHOE SHOP DAY` AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Im not looking forward to this one, i need 5 pairs in all 3 pairs of school shoes and 2 pairs of trainers, one of which has to be indoor non marking sole ones!! The kids hate shoe shopping as much as me but guarenteed as soon as we get to the shop the boys will all go off their seperate ways to look at things they like which will be totally impractical and to expensive, then will get the face on when i pick what they are having and sulk for the rest of the day!!!!
But i will feel better tonight knowing iv got them and that job is out the way.

Dh has a new `project` as we were kindly given some beautiful wooden garden furniture yesterday, 4 chairs that all fit together in a semi circle with little drinks tables inbetween with parasal slots. They need some repairing and rubbing down and staining, but im really pleased with them already and will keep dh busy for a while!

Right im off for more coffee and to check dh uniform have a great day all

  • Hi everyone

Amie - I may be wrong, but I think vets will treat wild animals for free - poor little thing. Ticks are horrible.

Mioliere - you have my sympathy about flying. I don't do flying any more - or more to the point, I don't do airports.

And of course, my sympathies to poor sleepless Csarinaknight - hope you did eventually get to sleep. I'm up early, but at least I slept pretty well.

I'm going to see my Mum again today - I said yesterday about how I was worried about her mental state. I really hope she is feeling less confused.

The postgraduate admissions tutor at Salford Uni is back from holiday today - fingers crossed that he gets on with considering my application. I've decided that if I don't get in I will do an Open University course, but the closing date for that is 7 September, so I will need to have an answer from Salford soon.

Have a good day everyone xxx

    Morning everyone.

I'm up with the larks today, well up with the cats. They both got me up at 5.45am and I did go back to bed, but gave up and got up. This'll give me longer to get my packed lunch done, have a leisurely breakfast, and maybe get into work early for a headstart. (Watch me get held up now.)

I have a very busy day ahead but I'm feeling recharged and refreshed from 3 days of doing nothing more exerting than knit or sew. May have to give the knitting a rest for a couple of days, though, as my thumb's aching from the weight.

At lunchtime today I'm off to bank the first of my pin money savings and to put back the cash I got out for shopping. As my Tesco credit card is currently empty, I'm going to go back to shopping with that so the cash needs to be back in the bank to pay the bill next month. I'm going to try and do what Queenie does, stick to my weekly shopping budget, pay it off every month, get the extra half a point per pound, and use the money back off my vouchers towards my ballet pot. I'm also going to check my online survey account, see if I can make a claim there yet. I'll use that towards my ballet pot too.

Hope you all have a great day.

Morning. Bit late today, I was busy answering e-mails. Work at 1300 today, so I will potter about the house all morning and drink coffee I expect.
Nice to read about Amie's hedgehogs. Is there not some cheap flea and tick stuff you can put on them?
I don't think I have seen one ever in my garden and we are quite rural too.
Not much else to report really. Glad to see that it's dry for a change. Have a nice day everyone.

    Morning all

Didn't get chance to post over the weekend, so hope everyone had a good one

Going to see dgd today who is now 2 1/2 weeks old, and keeping everyone awake at nights

I have lots of plums off my tree in the garden, so might have a go at jam later, and I have lots of apples, so think I might make some chutney as well. All this free food that I would have wasted before I became OS :T

Hope everyone has a good day x

Morning all and greetings from my Lillypad

Looking forward to today as my friends are coming down from Manchester for the week. Haven't seen them for two years so will have alot of catching up to do. They have wanted to come for ages but I kept putting them off as the last time we saw each other I was thin. It will be so embarassing as I'm 9 st heavier now. GREAT.

I have warned them as I couldn't cope with the look of shock on their faces. They are both very motivational so I'm hoping they will be able to talk some sense into me again!

not doing anything that costs money ~ going to Felixstowe as it's only 6 miles down the road and going for a walk to Dunwich too. Have got all my cheap meals ready so wont have to worry about spending too much this week.:T

Still thinking about that silly B***H and what happened yesterday. One thing, I think some of you might be thinking she is a young slip of a thing, she's 46! so yes, she should know better!!! I have been stewing over and over the things she said. She has only been going out with my BIL for a couple of months and she acts as if she's been in the family for years ~ I'm very threatened by her. My DH laughed and said " trust me you don't have anything to worry about" but it still hurts. People like her are my biggest nightmare!

Right Frogga, enough already! Can you tell I slightly obsess about things?!!!:rotfl:

Hope you all have a really good day , speak later , hopping off now to tidy the lillypad xxxx
