Just ignore all the pulpit bashers and anti claiming brigade (wonder what they would do were they the innocent passenger in their friend's car who crashed and left them in pain/disabled/dead!)

It's been less than 24 hrs and although this is only likely to be a short term injury the OP is already planing on claiming. If he is genuinely going to suffer a long term injury then fair enough but it sounds more like someone taking advantage and grabbing some free money, that the rest of us pay through our premiums.

My friend will admit responsibility so there should be no issues in that regard.

Your friend's insurer will not allow him to accept responsibility on their behalf.

You will be claiming against your friend, not his insurer. He will pass your claim on to his insurer, and they will decide how to defend the claim, and meet it if required, but only if handed they way they want it handled. His insurer will take a dim view of him accepting any liability.

Her stationary car was hit by a car doing 30mph, that's a hell of a jolt, she most probably has got whiplash and maybe other injuries, she maybe better in a week or two but she may suffer the consequences for a lot longer, she may also have other conditions that are impacted by the crash who knows...I was stationary at lights and was hit by a car doing no more than 15mph the jolt tore my neck muscles....I claimed but I didn't make the decision until 6 weeks after, as I was still in a necklace brace and a lot of pain, if it only lasted a couple of weeks or so I wouldn't of bothered...
Why can't injury claims such as this be subject to a grace period?

You are the one spouting nonsense, I don't know a single person who would be looking to slam in a chaim in so quickly. Most of us are honest and don't go round making claims for non existent injuries.
  • I cannot go to work with current pain I have, so I am genuinely losing money through this, through no fault of my own. I do not think this is unjust whatsoever.
  • Be honest, you don't know many people do you?
