You're right, it was a simple question and required a simple answer... 'no, it won't be reimbursed'...

    OP
I do hope your purse has been found by someone who is honest enough to hand it in.

I know what a sickening feeling it can be.

When I was first married (over 40 years ago) my husband lost his last wage packet before Christmas (no payment into bank accounts then :)).
It was unopened, with his full name and place of work on the wage slip but was never handed in.

We had less of a good Christmas than we'd originally planned and we both expressed the thought that it would be poetic justice if the dishonest oik who pocketed it got the turkey wishbone stuck in his throat. smiley-rolleyes010.gif

    What a strange thread.

None of it makes sense to me.
  • Some people love kicking people when they are down.

You don't know the OP's life, so how do you know how she runs her finances?
    Moving on up :o SPC #382 ~ £40 banked
    12k in 2016 #15. £541.91/£3000
  • What a load of judgemental posts in response to a simple question. As long as OP's child(ren) are supported it's no ones business what they spend their money on.

In the legal sense you are wrong.

Would you care to elaborate on this?
  • OP had 2 purses on her, one purse with 'her' money in and another with her daughters DLA, she stopped in the shop to do whatever she needed to do and paid with her own money, she then took a stroll home, upon emptying her bag she found the purse with the £150 in had disappeared..

that is the important bit here, the talk about lumping it in with other finances is wrong, what if their car is one proveded by motability and they need to pay their contributions on it else risk having it removed meaning OH cant work and they cant get the kids to school, there are lots of uses for her daughters DLA which would impact the whole family. the DLA is needed to provide food and yes thatll mean lumping it in with the general finances (the daughter may need specialised food)
dont judge, OP wanted to know if theyll be reinbursed, no not usually. if you ring benefits they may do an advanced payment of what they deem you need to live on untill your next payment, however they may just say you need to contact a food bank. As per advice youve been given previously contact anyone expecting money theyll usually understand

I was appointed by the DWP as 'an appointee' for a family member. It was made clear that any money paid 'legally' belonged to the claiment and not the appointee. This being the case, I ensured that detailed records were kept detailing expenditure.

There is most certainly a legal obligation on the part of the appointee to make sure that money is spent in the correct manner.

Motability get their money directly from the DWP.

My mother is an appointee for my disabled sister and was told the same. The money is used to fund the additional costs which result from her disability.
