Well I tried - I set off to do "the food shop" armed with meal plan, list, coupons. I searched out the offers, chose the "value" options where possible, and resisted all the lovely goodies calling out to me. Result? £1 more than last week :rotfl: Oh well, back to the drawing board !

Oh Chumpy I'm sorry but your post did make me chuckle. Hopefully it was just a more expensive week in that you bought more than last week, or got more longer life things?

I love Muller yogurts...they are a tad addictive though!

I find that bog roll always ups my spend. Normally because I buy in bulk so it might be anywhere up to an extra £8 (that was when i was at Asd@ though - it's not as expensive at Ald!.
And I spent another £7 on diet coke today. The 30 packs are on offer for £7 and they didnt have any yesterday so seeing as I had no coke at all I bought a pack of 15. Went back in today for some mystery shopping and checked and they had a 30 pack so I bought it seeing as it's on offer. So, now I have 44 cans of diet coke :rotfl:

    Hello Sue,

Sorry to hear about DDs job, hope she finds something great soon.

Costing out the food shop was a great idea, keeping the food bill down is the thing I find most difficult. Picturing you and your dog sharing the melon made me smile.

Hope the plans you are making for the next bear fair on the bank holiday make it really successful for you.

    headache tablets.8.52

I have put a few notes on and did multiply the headaches wrong on original but we do suffer migraines frequently (yes we have GP'd it and they were useless)

    Hi Sue

I love the idea of breaking down the food shop - I might be sad but I find it really interesting.:rotfl:

I just wanted to pick up on the migraine tablets - my DH had suffered with a continuous migraine for nearly 5 years, he has been very poorly at times and despite GP's, consultants etc we never really got anywhere.

Then we found the National Migraine Centre and paid for a private consultation - I thank that lovely consultant every day who has basically fixed my DH - he will be on medication for life but he is no longer in pain and his mental health has improved.

Anyway what I wanted to say is that when my DH's head pain was soooo bad he would take Migraleve which did take the edge off slightly but when we saw the consultant he said he would never recommend specialist tablets and the best thing for a migraine was 3 dispersible aspirin in a glass of coke - well a few weeks later (before the new tablets kicked in) DH got a really bad migraine and we did what the consultant said and it was amazing, within 15 mins DH could feel the pain subsiding and within 30mins it was back to his normal levels - this is faster than he recovers with Migraleve.

Obviously I am not a doctor so DYOR.

    Thanks

chumpy you made me smile too

    eager_elephant thanks for the tip

Weekend update.............well OH had a paddy on Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday. He only snapped out of it Sunday am because I was upset and he asked why and when I said it was mother's day, he thought I was upset DD wasn't there, I had to remind him that both our children weren't there..............he was dutifully very guilty (as I said to him "you're so wrapped up in your own world you forget others have hurt too") Well least he was nice for rest of the day

DD had a go at me Saturday because we were supposed to visit but I felt ill with a migraine and this cold.......she said a very hurtful thing but in true "me" style it was over in a flash.

OH's phone has gone wrong, can't work it out he can only call me and receive incoming from me (both phones are in my name!!!) He went to replace the drive belt on the car on Sunday and the parts people had sent the wrong one :mad: am waiting an email from them to see what they say, not sure what to do about phone.

Start of a new week and to be honest I just wish this cold would bug off :(:( getting very fed up of it.

Have decided that I need to be tougher, so I need your help, tell me to be firmer, they have spent years with me caving in that it's such a shock when I get angry/upset SOOOOOO I need to take baby steps to reverse that.

On the money front, I just had £11.65 from TCB so will OP £10. March is about rebuilding February's disaster and I should have all holiday funds by end of March, so that's good

Following on from this mornings post..................as you can see I'm pretty busy and I have been pondering the food dilemma quite a bit.

I have two choices, to cut or not to cut (having made an inventory of items needed it is clearer to see where I can go with this)

I already brand swop lots of items, in fact all items that I can. I use the supermarket app to see where things are the cheapest and shop at local bargains shops once a month for quite a bit.

My question is..........................do I leave it at that, it takes time and energy (fighting with OH) to try to get food down by £100 a month, it has been a constant struggle for many a year and in truth I feel I am wasting my time on a hopeless task.................would my energy be better spent elsewhere, concentrating on earning additional income...flebay or improving my current self employed business.

I'm not suggesting I loose grip on the food, that would be a disaster BUT now I know what I need a month (minimum) to just get those things at best price.:huh:

It's about knowing what to pursue and what to not pursue, that is the question
