    Day 28

This one is for all you lurkers out there, on Day 27 I made my first mortgage overpayment and I just thought I would tell you how it felt.

Firstly having made the decision to do this it took me 27 days to take the plunge, why.......................it's called feel the fear and do it anyway. We, as a human race, have this inbuilt psychology that tells us we will fail and as such we hesitate, those missed opportunities are endless, decisions we didn't make and signs we ignored are littered in our past.
I took the first 15 days trying to decide how much I planned to pay off a year, simple right, you would think so. Income less expenses with contingencies for events thrown in equals OP's BUT it's not easy, to get to that bit is quite straight forward, what happens then is you think wow how much followed by the first "I can't" the first of many

Fast forward to Days 23-26 By reading the great diaries on here you start to believe that you can, the can't's start to fade and eventually you think if they can I can

Day 27 arrives, nothing unusual about this day, it could be day 15 or 54 just an ordinary day except your head starts to whir and you can feel that you are about to step out into the light, then it just happens very quickly suddenly taking you by surprise. You make your first OP.

Afterwards it's like you have been fighting a mass of brambles and they just fall away and you step out onto a beautiful path of brightly coloured flowers and sunshine, you can see the prize at the end of this road, yeah it's a long way off but you can see it, taste it The road to mortgage freedom :A

That is what it feels like to me :D

:dance:Great read, and fantastic feel good start to the New Year:j, and maybe it did take 28 days - so what? You managed it within your 1st Month - took me around 3 months to get my @rse in gear and get a new deal:o:(

Loved reading the post - made me feel as good as you do.:A

Now this is where all the odds and sods come in,
    • interest on your account,
    • ebay sales
    • fat piggy(loose change mounted up)
    • anything saved with vouchers

small and often for me, feeds the addiction:D

Good Luck and in no time at all you'll be popping in and out of that mortgage o/p account more than once a month:rotfl::A

Fantastic news :) and I totally agree about how great it feels.

I thought I would go nuts waiting for my last pay day so I could make my first OP. Now I'm impatiently waiting for my next pay day. I've never been impatient to pay anything before :).

    Congratulations again :)
