I rang these guys at equita today in panic before I looked here
I have a £200 fine that needs to be paid by 24th December (apparently) but if I make an arrangement they want £50 upfront to consider and then everything within 3months,
£200 though? I don't remember getting the fine!
The girl on the phone actually said these types aren't normally enforced anyway so not to worry as long as I pay £50 on xmas eve.
OH DEAR you do not ring these parking idiots or debt collectors, it's sure way to get harassed and you have just opened yourself up to these scammers. Suggest you block them on your phone, they can be worse than the phone scammers wanting your bank details.
DO NOT OFFER ANY PAYMENTS WHATSOVER if they have not proved to you that you owe them money.
What a stupid girl saying that, hey Equita, sack that lady before xmas eve, she is losing your scam money EQUITA/CAPITA ????
Do you like being scammed ??? If not, then ask for proof you owe the money.
They love people like you, "give us £50 now and the rest on tick"
WHAT A SCAM
DON'T DO IT ..... LET THEM PROVE TO YOU FIRST THAT YOU OWE THEM MONEY .... IT IS NOT UP TO YOU TO PROVE YOU DON'T
CAPITA ..... (these are the people who own Parking Eye/ Equita)
WHY DO YOU ALLOW THIS MAJOR SCAM ???????

Hi
This is my first post as I have come looking for advice like many before me!
Basically, I received some correspondence from PE last year where they were fining me £60 for being at Newport Pagnell services for over 2 hours. I thought it was ludicrous as I was helping my Girlfriend change her tyre, so pretty much ignored.
Then DRP started chasing and I foolishly called them asking for proof, which they did not provide me with. I then started getting texts, which I ignored after then taking advice from this site. They made me offers of £60, £120, £100 etc which I have ignored.
This debt is now been taken on by Equita and they sent me the same letter many in this thread have received, again with no evidence, entitled "TAKE FORMAL NOTICE" asking for £150. Oddly, my girlfriend ignored hers, but we hae recently found she had been summoned to Northampton CC and has been issued with a CCJ which came up on her credit score.
If anyone can give me any advice it would really put my mind at ease. I feel it is too late too appeal, but at first I thought it was a con to be honest.
Thanks

Unsure what this means. Just seeking some advice...? I think you are suggesting I work for Parking Eye.0 -
You may need to expand on the girlfriend's CCJ, as we are not aware of any CCJs as a result of these recent Equita letters (too short a timeframe for that) so is this part of something different?
A previously ignored Court Claim/Court Claim sent to incorrect address, etc?Je Suis Cecil.0 -

Thank you for responding.
She was pursued by DRP, similar to how I was and has had no correspondence with Equita. She was summoned to a small claims court in Northampton but it didnt give her a way of paying anything so she thought it was rubbish and did not attend and heard nothing else. She did a credit check and this showed up. From reading through this forum, it makes me feel like something fishy is going on as nobody else has had this experience and the info I have from her is second hand.
I find it strange that we were parked side by side, committed the same "offence" but she has had a different outcome to me (so far). Basically I want to contest this but I am wondering if it has gone too far. I will ignore Equita because they have given no evidence and quite frankly this letter isnt worth the paper its written on. Also, quite unsure how they can justify ticketing someone with a flat tyre in a service station on the M1 and I think that is why I have been rubbish at dealing with this because it seems so ridiculous to me.0 -

Also suggest if ANPR cameras recorded your visit, that you write to your local authority's planning department and check if planning approval is required and was it obtained for the ANPR cameras. Watch out for a new thread on here in January - I will post under ANPR without planning approval.
