I'm off out this morning to get the fresh veggies for Christmas Day and also the other bits needed for this week and next (and hopefully the week after that!)
My hope is that we have some meat left over then I will freeze the beef packed in small packs of slices or in trays in gravy. The turkey and gammon I will possibly make in to a couple of small pies with a white sauce and pastry or potato top to freeze.
We need a musclefood order doing of meat (chicken and chicken sausage mostly as we bulk ordered mince from them when it was last on offer) but not until mid January or later. Though boyfriend does that and pays for it through his athlete fund
As my eating plan covers my breakfast and lunch everyday outside of the GC and on the days she's in nursery for the morning or all day littlie gets lunch provided todays list looks like this:
wholemeal bread
ham
cheese
milk
soya milk
eggs
cereal for boyfriend
crisps
crackers
biscuits for lunchboxes
fromage frais/yogurts
bin bags
pasta
baked beans
washing up sponges
bleach
Bolognese sauce
soup
the Christmas list I have is:
double cream
brandy butter
wholemeal bread
pate
melon
frozen forest fruits
peas
potatoes
Yorkshire puddings
carrots
cauliflower
brussel sprouts
stuffing mix
stock cubes
horseradish
wholegrain mustard
pickle
napkins
fruit juice
red onion chutney
parsnips
jam
flavoured water (dad can't drink alcohol or pop much so this gives him a little something fresh but not as fizzy and not just squash!)
Ice cream
cornflour
Can't wait to see how I get on!************************************

Hello all.
As part of a general re-think of our budget and home organisation, I'm hoping to reduce our grocery budget.
As far as I can tell from looking at our bank statements over the last few months, we have been spending something like £500 a month in the supermarket.
My plan is to reduce that to £300 to start with, this will include cat food and cleaning bits for all of January.
Our household consists of two adults, a 9yo child, and a cat. I'll give that a go this month and see about lowering it next month - having looked at the previous posts on this thread £300 still seems like a lot for our small family!0 -
I'd like to be added for a monthly - started from December 15th and will run to January 15th. This is an expensive one, with Xmas and my birthday, so I'll go for £160 for 2 of us + 2 kitties. So far spent £55.50February Grocery Challenge - £120.63/1500

Can I please join. My month will run 1-31st, 5 Saturday's when I do my weekly shop so 5 x £50 = £2500
-
I'd like to join this month too. It's a 5 weekend month for us too from the 12th Dec to 12th Jan. I'd like to start my year trying to reduce the groceries.
Can I please be put down for £250 too.
I'm well stocked up for the holidays and sure this will be stretched to keep meals reasonably frugal - hopefully. Our meals will be a lot healthier come January after the xmas treats, so lots of fruit, veggies, salady things and vegetarian options will be added to the plan.0 -
:santa2:
Good morning,
It's been a while since I did a grocery challenge but I need to as my spending is creeping up to rediculous levels, I've got in to the routine of just going to the Co-op for all of my shopping  ... I'm hoping to leave teaching and go and train as a nurse in the next 18months and need to get my spending under control before then and also some sort of meal plan for time and budgeting.
Could you please put me down for £350 thank you.
Have a great day.

Hiya all
Another poster sneaking back in.
2014 was a great year for me with the grocery challenge but just completely lost it last year. But with this challenge and YNAB I am hoping to keep my spending on track again.
Could you please put me down for £250. My month runs from the 1st to the 31st, I think this will be more than enough as I still have vouchers etc left from my Christmas savings to spend, but as a previous poster said, any left over I will put towards meat/frozen bits for the following months, just to ease the load further down the line, good luck to all, and a big thanks to all that run the thread.

I'm back in again for January please after my horrendous December. Have just bought a larder fridge, but as yet no replacements for the two big fridge freezers lost in the flood, so I'll be shopping weekly....oh joy...
£350 budget to cover 2 adults, 4 children, 3 giant dogs, 6 spoilt chickens and a tankful of goldfish. All food, toiletries and cleaning products to be included in this total. Will be running from the 1st please Coxy x0 -
Yay! Shiny new challenge for a shiny new year! I'll be starting my January GC on 1st January, and I'd like to aim for £280, please. December has been a bit of a shocker - I'm hosting Christmas (as well as doing a second Christmas dinner on new year's eve with my chap) and I just don't know where the money has gone. If I'm honest, it'll be booze, but I don't like to count on anyone turning up with anything to add to the "bar", so I always overbuy. This has been my first Christmas on the GC, so I'm really going to learn from this one and see where I can trim back next year. Hopefully there will still be plenty in the freezer to get me through January. I've been setting myself £300 up until now, but October and November were just over £200. £280 should be a walk in the park.3-6 month EF Challenge Member #19: £3590/£6000.[/B] Craft destash from 22.5.22: 46/200. Please may I join?
I seriously need to manage my spending. I have a very well stocked freezer and grocery cupboard so I am aiming for £100 for 1 -31 January. Hoping this will give me the kickup the bottom I need.
