Yay - I'm in! £150 please to run from today until January 25th.
My GC includes all food for two adults and one child, drink, cleaning and baby products.
First spends today and its: £30 in Sainsbury's which includes nappies (2x78 @ £6 each - should see us through the month), some Duck toilet thingy refills (box of 2 usually £5 on offer at £3 - expensive but very good and last ages!) and then the things to make the gifts for little ones nursery workers and two small choc Scottie dogs for the other ladies in my office
Will be going on Monday to do the Christmas/early January shop so hoping to be able to save some money on that!************************************

Oh I am definitely in for this one. After keeping track of how much I spent over 2015, I am horrified! I am going to aim for £320 per month for each month of 2016 and any money I have leftover from that will go towards bulk buying meat and other food. I am going to keep track in YNAB so every penny will be accounted for.
I have a new freezer coming on Sunday, which will help with saving leftovers and batch cooking.
The £320 will cover just food and is for two adults, me and DS2 (18) and two kids DS3 (15) and DD (12), plus OH at the weekends and the occasional HM dinners I send to DS1 (20) who lives alone and works a lot:) Oh and will run from 1st-31st Jan.
Cant wait to get started, bring it on!!!November NSD's - 70 -
Hello All,
I definitely need to do better in 2016, so please count me in for January. Please can you put me down for £180.
This covers all food and non food household items for two adults, and will run from the 28th December to 27th January.
Many thanks.

For 2015 I managed on less than £200 a month for all groceries and cleaning stuff and soap etc except for one month when I filled the freezer with beef and went over by £28. So this year will go for £200 a month except for January as I won't need as much and will try for £100 or less. :j0

Hello there, I thought I would sign up before the mad rush starts in January. My husband has just been paid and it's less than normal plus we have a 6 week month until he gets paid again.
I will go from the 1st January till the 29th for the challenge and I would like to try for £150 a week. It seems a lot I know but we have been spending nearer £200 a week including a takeaway.
We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 teenagers with hollow legs. We also have a dog and a cat whose food also comes out of the budget. I enjoy baking and will be trying more recipes from the start of this thread. Wish me luck!0 -
Well after an awful spend in December, I now have a big fat overdraft:o. So NEED to get back on the wagon.
Can you put me down for £250 for the month.
That's for 3 and a half adults (DD only eats here 2/3 times a week and 4 greedy cats:DNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Hi folks :hello:I've not done this for a very long time but after being ridiculously frivalous with money in 2015 (I haven't even written spends down:o which I've not done for years ) I really need to buckle down and get things back on track.
Unfortunately I have some dietary issues which mean things like milk (£1.33 / litre ) add up to a fairly heft grocery bill but I must try to rein it back in a bit!
Easying in gently for my 1st month and going for £35 / week (milk will be £8 of that!) so going for £175 (28th Dec-31st Jan)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

Hi everyone
I would love to join please. My income will be reducing by quite a lot in the summer of 2016 when my youngest leaves sixth form,I will lose child tax credits, child benefit, child maintenance and council tax reduction! I really don't want to up my hours at work (currently work 18 hrs a week) as my eldest is disabled and I am her main carer we have weekly hospital appointments.
So any ways to save money will be great, I enjoy cooking and am quite frugal but this year have not been sticking to a food budget.
My budget for each month will be £250 for three adults and a fat cat!
:grinheart Thanks :grinheart0 -
I've watched and admired the Grocery Challenge for a long time, but for 2016 I've decided it's time to stop sitting on the fence and to get stuck in! (Also just horrified myself with the cost of the Christmas supermarket shop) so for January put me down for £160 to last until the 27th.0
