  • £2.29 yesterday in Sainsburys (used £10of Nectar points as forgot them at Christmas). Currently feeding 5 adults as ds2's girlfriend is here. Dh has invited people round for drinks and party food tonight so am challenging myself to do as much out of the fridge as possible. Leftover peas have become bhajis with gram flour, baking powder and curry powder. Called into Tesco after work and got 3 cheese pizzas for 19p each plus other stuff with coupons that will be used.

Something I found useful was to write down all the stuff I was planning on serving -when it was written out it was a ridiculous amount for 9 people so lots of it is staying in the freezer/ fridge. Overcatering can be an issue for me -especially since ds1 went to uni.

    Current spend to date - £28.01. :T

Wishing you all a Thrifty New Year and lots of YS bargains :)

Hello to all the newbies and the returners good to have you on board.
A big thank you to all that run the thread.
Still on the Dec budget till the 31st (nothing spent since 22nd Dec but please count me in for £180 for JAN however we have a fair amount of left overs - beef, ham, veg, mince pies, sausage rolls etc so am hoping for less.
Hubby is having a dry January except for a bottle of cava that we will have New Years day and the money we save is going to Douglas Macmillan hospice in memory of our daughter. He doesn't drink a lot so will be adding extra to it.

Good luck everyone I hope you ALL do well.
    MARCH £62.38/250

    Hi,
Thankyou to the people who run this thread.
I would like to declare £216.50 per month please.

Last year, I declared £400 per month and even though I did not declare every month, I wittled it down to £75.00 per week (£324 per month). I had the extra cost of nappies for my granddaughter and that has now finished. so I am going to try for £216.50 per month(£50 per week) and that is 2 adults 2 dogs and 1 cat and 1 tortoise.

  • £300 1st-31st January please. :)

We're back - we hate waste and like cooking at home which helps us keep costs at a level comfortable for us, but I've got a new job and due to increased income we've not blown our grocery budget but have been eating out far more than we used to and we want to stop this for health and eating out budget reasons! :) Here's to a happy, healthy and frugal 2016.

Complete newbie, won't be setting a budget this month as I'm already making some big changes this year including living alone.

Making recipe lists for the month from which to make shopping lists, will be tracking my spending in January, and trying to work it down from there in Feb and March.
  • I must get browsing the recipes - I have loads of pasta but no idea what to use for sauces - unfortunately I can't have tomato now & most of the sauces I've used in the past have them in

Made Turkey rissoles for dinner which were quite yummy!

Was a bit naughty as went to the SM today (challenge starts tomorrow for me) but usually I'd have gone on Saturday so it was my normal weekly shop.

Got a few bargains (huge tin of shortbread for £1, even bigger box of assorted crackers for £2) & stocked up on a few toiletries on offer too.
