Hi all,
Just popping back in to say Aldi have their 2 pack of soup mugs in from Thursday - I bought a couple last year, and will pick another pair up this week.
I,m nothing to do with Aldi and other soup mugs are available :rotfl:
They go from freezer to microwave and I take frozen soup most work days and it's half defrosted by lunch, and takes a couple of minutes in the micro, has saved me a fortune in bacon butties from the work canteenNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Afternoon
Reporting in to post my totals so far. Yesterday was a lovely NSD with quite a bit of useful using up achieved. I had 1/3 carton of passata, 1/3 can of baked beans and a slice of leftover gammon to use up, so I made a minestrone for my lunch with a stock cube, some water and bashed up value pasta twists. It made a lovely couple of meals and I'll take the remaining bowlful to work tomorrow - I don't have a soup mug (yet) so I'll take it in a glass jar and pour it into something pingable at work.
Today I'm really please with how I've stuck to the shopping list. I've spent £6.81 today on a bit of a top up shop as there's lots in from Christmas still, some cold meds for DH, and a carton of ice cream for him as a treat. There's never any good YS stuff when I go to Mr M before work, but I may get lucky one day.
Tea tonight is the second half of a minced beef and onion pie I made for last night - I've previously made some potato croquettes from leftover mashed potato and a bit of cheese, dipped in egg and then breadcrumbs, so we'll have those with the pie. All in all it shouldn't take very long to cook. Which is great after the first day back at work!
Have a lovely evening.

Hi,
I'm a bit late joining this, hope that's ok?
Once again our grocery spending has totally got out of control, so I'm needing lots of motivation! Ideally I'd love to be able to get our grocery spend down to abou £300, there is 4 of us (2 adults, a 10 yr old & a 9 yr old), 2 dogs & 3 cats, I'm going to try including the pet food in this budget & see how it goes, but I tend to buy it online in bulk every couple of months, so we'll see how that goes!
We've still got quite a bit of food from Christmas lurking around, which I'm gradually using up!
Our first shop for the new year was yesterday, an online Mr T shop, for £65.86. I've meal planned for this week & the kids are back to having sandwiches for lunch at school instead of school dinners, so should save some money there
Anyway good luck everyone. x0 -
Really pleased that I haven't actually spent anything yet this year, I need coffee but I'll use the ground stuff we opened at Christmas before I get any more instant - that's me being really good as I normally run on instant coffee. I do need salad and sarni fillers for the pack ups and some milk so will nip shop tonight.
Found out I'm back to job sharing from tomorrow as my 'other half' is feeling better so fit for work. I enjoyed doing full time and the money was really handy but two full days and my playground stuff plus lunch cover for job sharee on the other three days gives me time to do my stuff at home. And I didn't like to be benefiting from her illness.
Christmas is all boxed up now and I've had a quick sweep through so in going to go and see about that mushroom stroganoff now.SPC~12 ot 124
