  • Hello. I have updated the form to £9833.53. I have paid my direct debits this month and still have my overpayments to do. I feel delighted that my mortgage is now less than 10000. I am planning to pay off my mortgage in May 2017. It is challenging for me. I very much wish to stay on target.

You'll do it and inspire us all. And if it takes an extra month or 2, so what!

  • Hello. Yes, it helps to have an end date in mind. In November I managed to do a £2000 overpayment for my mortgage. I am glad I am being inspiring to you and others.

I've just submitted my update and thought I'd bump the thread as it had fallen several pages down the list.

Just submitted my first update of the challenge (infrequent statements from our mortgage provider means I will probably only be able to update 6 monthly). Some way off target at the moment, but that's because we only just started being able to make over-payments. £10k to go to achieve our goal and, even if we don't quite make it, any extra paid is always a bonus and this board definitely helps with that motivation!

We are a little ahead of schedule right now, which is great in itself, but this year will see OH on maternity leave right the way through - it's going to be a lot tougher this year!

    Well done all :T
  • Sent in my update, Mortgage balance now £23,000.00 - so getting there, slowly but surely.

Have 2 targets in mind  either Dec 2019 or original date when I started this journey of 29.2.20 (leap year and 8 years to the day I took out my mortgage - still like this one best, but who knows . . . . .)

    Plod on :)
Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's

I have updated but I'm way behind target. :(
We have 2 sub accounts and the interest seems way more on these accounts than the main account but they are all on same rate.
