You are going to try a mere ten Linux distros? When there are hundreds and hundreds available?

I'm sure that you aren't in a hurry.

I may have to settle for W7 for the time being..... the xmas tree going up later will restrict physical access to the keyboard and mouse

..... the good thing is with the tree up I can't see the tv properly from my seat, so won't have to put up with all the "xmas specials" they insist on showing this time of year :p

Oh....I see that I've given the BIOS update for the GX270. You have the [STRIKE]SX270[/STRIKE]SX260. This is why we like Service Tags. :) So...let's start again with the Service Tag.

I have just PM'd you Nifty :) Anyhows, Service Tag is F24MM0J.

BIOS is now at A03 (latest I could find for the 260, updated sometime in 2011), W7 32-bit installed, SP1 is in, and it's on the post-SP1 updates....the waiting has begun.....

I don't want to be the one to state the blindingly obvious...but your Service Tag indicates the GX260 for which the latest BIOS is the A09.
I'm beginning to get a headache. :rotfl:
