Perhaps it's a KMS (kernel mode setting) issue, what is the GPU, Intel IGP ?

Not worth spending £7 for (2x1GB) DDR-333 PC2700 Non-ECC low density RAM?

SX270 Nifty, that ram suits, thx Was saving upgrading ram for a last resort....but might have to bite the bullet before I go round the bend

I have a pile of old RAM in the draw, assumed it was worthless because the price plummets when new stuff comes out. But then after a while it picks up again and then plummets again as nobody wants it.

Have children ?

Then why not attach them to a couple of sticks with some string and now you have a high tech ceiling mobile to entertain them for hours that's zero cost and environment friendly.
