I have just purchased on-line, a rather expensive cycling top from a major supplier. When it has arrived it didn't look right, it didn't have the usual collection of information danglies connected with the plastic ties, only a tag from the shop with the item code and the price. On further inspection there was a (well used) bandanna tucked away in the pocket. I know I can get my money back but would you expect any form of compensation for this awful level of service?
thanks
thanks

I'd expect them to be apologetic but not to give compensation.I have just purchased on-line, a rather expensive cycling top from a major supplier. I don't think you will get any compensation. It is possible if you complain you may get some goodwill gesture, especially if you have given them a lot of custom previously.
However I now tend to just avoid using companies that have given me bad service.0 -
Obviously I have suffered no loss or hardship, just a bit peeved off that they have tried to pass something off as new which has, not only been used but had something in the pocket!! I guess you could argue that a used shirt is only worth half or 2/3 the value of a new one.0

You certainly could. However when the sensible option is to send it back at their expense for a refund, there's no real loss that you've suffered. It's highly unlikely they'll offer you compensation for what is a simple mistake, not an attempt to 'pass something off as new'.0 -

I doubt they have done this intentionally.
It is clearly a product someone has returned and someone has accepted the return, not been vigilant enough about checking the pockets and and placed it back into stock.
Returns are sold as 'new' in most cases. Obviously this should not have, but what do you think happens to returns people have tried on and sent back? You didnt say it smelt or was dirty, just a bandana in the pocket...0 -
I don't claim to know the law here but I would guess that the point that you cut the tags off it becomes yours, otherwise you don't know where it been or for how long, it is possible it could have been washed and then returned.0

Well you don't know what has happened, there may not have been 'danglies' on this shirt for some reason. Ive seen it happen with a few. You said the shops tags were still attached.
You have every right to send it back for a refund, no one is arguing that, but this is not a big deal, its not an attempt to scam or 'pass off as new' if the bandana wasn't in there you would have been none the wiser. It would be unlikely to have been washed and returned if the shop tags are still attached. I cant imagine them surviving a wash.
Its a mistake, treat it as such, and don't be silly about 'compo.'0 -
Compensation? You get to keepa (well used) bandanna.0
