Wow!! What weight yarn is it in? I've just had the stupid idea to make a mitred square 4ply blanket on 3.75mm. It'll probably never get finished. I started a chunky Double bed blanket 3.5yrs ago and lost the will to live.

Scary isn't that people have NO idea how long things take to knit. Or how expensive the yarn can be. Or how complicated, I love intarsia but it's soo complicated to knit especially if it's more than 2 colours.

It's DK (8-ply). The front is the hieroglyphs (30 10.5"x10.5" squares with a multi striped border) and the back is blue/gold striped. In fairness it's a mix of intarsia and stranded work. Already losing the will to live with the back, though.

A 4ply blanket sounds like hell. Good luck :rotfl:

ETA: this is an old progress photo. I've only got 2 squares to go on the front now but yeah. Thing's huge.

  • Thanks for the link to the pic, lexbubbles:T. What a fabulous piece of work. I'm in awe:A

I'm OK with the basics but none of my Mum's artistry and skill rubbed off on me:o

How do you cope doing intricate work like that when your home is so cold? My hands go almost numb sometimes and it's hard enough to type let alone handle needles and yarns:eek:.

Thanks! I actually find knitting keeps my hands warm - both from moving fingers constantly (also stops the joints locking) and handling soft wooly yarn.

It does start to hurt sooner, though. Blanket on hold at the moment whilst I work on this jumper I started 3 days ago: http://36.media.tumblr.com/d8be052b5a7acacd5dbdbe0118de3947/tumblr_nyphblMDv21r0geqqo1_1280.jpg

Sadly no knitting for me today, as I have a large essay to write which is due in at 5 and I haven't started :rotfl:

No money actually in today:( but may get a pleasant surprise when I pop into Co-op later and discover if my annual dividend bonus has been credited to my Dividend Card. Can't remember if it was this thread I posted on about it but my local Co-op group is paying an extra bonus of 85% of all dividend accrued during the year. Last year I ended up with £62 extra:j and that was @ 75%. I think I must have spent considerably less at the Co-op this year as have been using Morrisons more but should still get a nice amount. Unusually we haven't had letters telling us the exact amount that we're getting so it's going to be a nice surprise. Has to be spent at the Co-op though but it saves having to take money from the grocery budget:j

Have just parcelled up a toothbrush with a letter of complaint to the company who make them. I'm becoming such a cheapskate these days:o. It was brand new and in the package and when I opened it, applied toothpaste and put it once to my front teeth the head totally snapped off (the toothbrush's not mine!). Not an electric one, I still like manual, but it wasn't a cheapie, it's the top brand. Can't recall what I paid for it and can't find receipt but I don't suppose it was much more than the cost to return it when jiffy bag is included;). Still, it's the principle I'm fighting for, shoddy manufacture shouldn't be allowed especially when the package bore the information 'German technology':rotfl:

You go for it CBC. Usually find these are very good at replacing things. You might get a voucher as well.

Am stood in the telephony shop waiting to collect my tablet which they swear is not here. I am due to do an Ms half hour ago and have to be home by 1pm.......

Looks like am going to be late home or will have to Cancel Ms. And I have been hit for another ms who is refusing to payout.

Love the incompetence of this telephony. Am taking our pac codes and going. Cannot be dealing with such inept customer service. I even got told I had to ring the repair centre to ask where the tablet was.....I don't think so.

Is it EE by any chance :rotfl:

Made the mistake of switching to them last year. Only lasted a week before I returned to my beloved o2

iPhone i bought was locked to EE and I didn't realise, but they refused to unlock it. since I'm PAYG I just thought "well I'll switch over doesn't bother me". Bought a SIM-card with a sort-of bolt on type deal of mins/data/texts for a tenner and had to make FIVE separate phone calls to actually get the stuff I paid for with them repeatedly insisting that what I'd bought doesn't exist (because obviously I'm going to pay £10 for a SIM card with nothing on it right?). They couldn't even locate my order despite having the order number

Took me 3 phone calls to change a delivery address, as well.

I sold that phone, bought another one on o2, and went back to my old SIM card. Ritualistically burned the EE one :rotfl:

    Bloody useless.

Just called EON - I was £80.18 in credit and because of my usage and where my payments are at they suggested paying it back into my bank. I hate to so argue....

Also, just got a £7 voucher off a T Finest joint which I will use (min spend and I can get a nice beef one for the slow cooker for less than £8) so I'm counting that and putting the cash I would have spent in the pot.
Did a Waitrose order this morning (not anywhere near as expensive as you'd think if you are savvy) - Got an £122 order for £90 delivered. I'm counting the £10 code I used but not the other savings as those are ongoing discounts / savings etc on the food ideas (i.e half price etc).

That makes my December total to date... £106.18

Hi all, I'm a bit behind signing up this month but would be grateful if you could put me down for £10. Still need to check exactly how well I did last month but definitely hit my original target of £5 (maybe even reached £10).

Will be back later to catch up on what I've missed so far this month x

I'm just popping in to declare an almost-on-target payment of £18 that hit my account this morning from a MS job I did last Monday! Very efficient!
  • Congratulations to everyone who has already made any money this month. Only day 2 and you're up to £116.18, Nicki_Sue. Keep it up!:T:beer:

Not been to Co-op as postman brought my Bonus statement today. There's a lovely £55 credited to my dividend account all ready for spending:j

He also brought me a £5 Love2Shop voucher from a postal survey.
I know it's not much but it's a nice regular earner and there's barely any effort or work involved:j

So a lovely round £60 to get December off to a nice start.

Aesop, commiserations about your ongoing telephony company issues. It's bad enough when they're so inept and inefficient but it's even worse when you are made to lose money through it if you have to cancel a MS job. Big hugs:)
