  • Would it be worth your while buying a printer? I couldn't live without mine as I use it for so many things. Don't you have to print stuff out for your course or do you have access to Uni ones? There are some bargains to be had at the moment. Mine was even more of a bargain because my last one died and I just didn't have the funds to replace it when I needed one urgently:o. I requested one on Freecycle and had a choice of 3 or 4, all supposedly in tip-top order and being passed on because of upgrading. I only went to see one and was really chuffed with it. It's wireless and everything and even had a few spare ink cartidges (originals not the generics I usually buy;)) thrown in:j

Nah, not really. I used to have one but hardly ever used it and when it died 4 or 5 years ago I never replaced it.

There are printers at uni. I only have to print my assignments (I don't even HAVE to do that - I could email them) which amounts to maybe 30 pages a year. I put £10 print credit on when I started in Sep last year and still have some of it left - and last year I was printing masses of material before I got my own library together (I don't like reading long articles / book extracts on a screen so I'd print it all). Now that I have books I'll spend maybe £2 a year on printing.

I could use them to print off labels but it's a 2.5 mile walk each way so I am 100% not willing to do that outside of class hours :rotfl: I mean hey if someone happens to order and pay for something on Monday through... oh before about 5pm on Thursday during term times I could print a label next/same day. Other than that they're outta luck ;)

@Kanta - pretty much everything over and above normal expected income is fair game. Including but not limited to tips, overtime, eBay profits, gift vouchers, competition winnings etc etc

Spreeing again. Can I use your Freds next year to save over a year Aesop or does it have to be monthly? I was on the Save 12k in 2015 with my measly £3k but the amounts people save yearly on there (someone saved £92k!) frighten me senseless (and it's not very friendly). I mean who on earth can save £92k in a year??
Why don't you try the Sealed Pot challenge together with this one.

I make what I can on here and put £250 a month into a regular savings account. Then I put the rest into my sealed pot account.

It has already started so you could join now if you wanted. That's another friendly and supportive thread (I was thinking about the save 12K thread but after reading some recent comment, which seem very competitive .....)

Didn't want to presume Lex :D

I'll probably be here anyway - but what can we talk about to stay reasonably on theme? Maybe tell a little potted history and highlights of our money-making for the year - stretching it out to 19 posts each :rotfl:

I totally agree about the Sealed pot Challenge. It's my first year of doing it and I can vouch for the friendliness and support on there:T. Great fun. Not saved much so far as only able to pot small loose change but things can only get better;)

You seem to be doing quite well with the tips CP. Have you many more evenings to be worked until the end of the year. I imagine there will be some big groups for Chrissy and end of the year get-togethers.

Working everyday till Christmas now. TBH, its the little families who leave the best tips. They love it when I make a fuss of the kids and calm them down if they want to relax.... :rotfl:
